Rockhopper was established in 2004 with a strategy to invest in and undertake an offshore oil exploration programme in the North Falkland Basin. It was floated on AIM in August 2005. Rockhopper was the first company to make a commercial oil discovery in the Falklands. Today Rockhopper is the largest acreage holder in the North Falkland Basin, with interests in the Greater Mediterranean region.

bullseye! .... at the moment no one has any idea at all what rkh may have found, though there are realistic expectations of >170mb ..... however, they still have to get it on stream (rf - i think the cost of that is actually irrelevant), and that will take at least a further 3 years .... on the other hand, black bush in the hand (so to speak!) is far preferable to just being onto an unfulfilled promise

If you want to talk about GKP...switch over to that thread....

chav - 28 May 2010 11:42 - 1287 of 6294

Currently the signs are very good for RKH/DES and fingers crossed that the 'signs' will be proved up into mmbb's on their books.

chav - 28 May 2010 11:42 - 1288 of 6294

rf ...I have no interest in GKP but you brought their name to this thread!

I'm delighted about RKH.....just pissed off about selling most too early...but now I'm boring everybody about that and I will be gutted if this goes to ten quid in a day...

chav - 28 May 2010 11:45 - 1290 of 6294

rf...very true....you are boring everyone on here about your opinions on RKH...at least you are me!

HARRYCAT - 28 May 2010 11:46 - 1291 of 6294

If you bought at 250p (or less), why would you be gutted if it goes to 10??? Get over it & focus on the potential now!

halifax - 28 May 2010 11:46 - 1292 of 6294

rf it will be alright as long as you don't look down whilst standing on the window ledge!

Why do people not see the downside on things ?....we are here to make some dosh...and maximize it...why keep on saying ; it's going to rocket when it might not ?....I was one of the first on here so please...evaluate the pro's and con's...

required field - 28 May 2010 11:50 - 1294 of 6294

Not if you had 100% stock and now only 15%....anyway....it's looking fantastic....

chav - 28 May 2010 11:52 - 1295 of 6294

Look to hard at the negatives and you will never make a move...make the move with the negatives in mind and exposure limit set accordingly.

cynic - 28 May 2010 11:54 - 1296 of 6294

i concur ..... there is a HUGE amount of hype about this stock, and frankly, i think it's impossible at the moment to determine a fair price ...... it won't even be easy for idiots like me once we see the report, for even if the reserves are confirmed at say 300mb, that still leaves a lot of imponderables

that said, i am very happy to be holding a slightly o'weight position by current value, and just might be tempted to top up again at +/-235 if it falls that low late this afternoon

HARRYCAT - 28 May 2010 12:31 - 1297 of 6294

Looks like 07.00 hrs tues is the most likely scenario now for the next RNS. Lots of 'worry time' for you rf.

Talking about RKH on FT Alphaville today, good to hear that it looks like no cash call and potential for a farm out, and also a reserves upgrade with the news..... maybe coming Tuesday.

Good :)

Proselenes - 28 May 2010 13:02 - 1299 of 6294

DES to farm in to Sea Lion perhaps ?

Would make sense for DES, and deliver very good shareholder value to RKH :)

No nasty messing placings like GKP for example, allowing the share price to rise and rise :) !

cynic - 28 May 2010 13:15 - 1300 of 6294

sorry mr p, but this guy is just a punter and poster like the rest of us, so similarly is no better informed

HARRYCAT - 28 May 2010 14:03 - 1301 of 6294

NH = Neil Hume, a FT journalist. (possibly no better informed than us on the subject of RKH).

Balerboy - 28 May 2010 14:03 - 1302 of 6294

still seems strange to me that the big oil's walked away from this massive find all those years ago..... must make you wonder why??

halifax - 28 May 2010 14:18 - 1303 of 6294

BB oil was $10 per barrel then and their discovery was too costly to exploit.

Balerboy - 28 May 2010 14:21 - 1304 of 6294

wouldn't you think they'd put it on the back burner for another day if theres so much oil there??
