Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).
Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.
cheers GF.

The way things are going at present could encourage a return to Old Testament actions due to the vacuum in the justice system caused by to lack of punishment of real crime as opposed to the punishment of non crime.
----
It would seem that the return to Old Testament actions would be OK and certainly appealing, when judging other the crimes of other individuals, but I am not certain I would like my actions to be judged by, or punishment implemented by the mob or rabble rousers.
-------
But, I am probably less secure than many in what I believe to be wrong and right, but dont consider it should be based on judgement made out of convenience.

Tinker,
I would think that would depend on your legal status in the individual countries and their health systems.
It would depend on how those countries distribute the tax pot they raise.
Different priorities.
It seems to me that the general health of the Eurozone has been raised due to the interferences of the various states "State Public Health" services and therefore its "basic needs".
The eradication of TB needing more resources than the common cold.
How the individual countries implement the services is at present up to them, but with greater integration of Fiscal and Economic policies within the EU, many of the "dysfunctions" may be ruled out,
Of course if the UK remains a Pariah state that won't effect us and you had better get insured.

Surely you can appreciate that our NHS is the 'British' way of doing things?
That's why other countries do it differently, just like they speak a different language and have different customs, etc.
That's also, why when you are staying in a hotel in Tenerife and ring down to reception to tell them you want a doctor, they put 2 and 2 together and guess that you're a tourist, and as such, most probably have your own Holiday and Medical Insurance.
Now a doctor will pay the hotel an 'introductory commission' and that, as well as a few other factors, eg, the speed with which a particular doctor pays said commission, will determine even which private doctor they send for.
Now he'll come out to your room, charge you a fee, give you an invoice, and you'll be able to claim it all back on your holiday medical insurance. So it will be 'Free' for you, won't it?
Of course, there's always the 'non-private' way of getting some health care abroad for the average Briotish Tourist, eg, the EHIC card method in the EU zone.
But who'd want to go bothering with it, when 'you can go private' and for FREE?

no i was not .
my question to fred was .
if our workers wanted to work in spain they would not get free health care
and if they have to pay insurance iin most cases it would not be a good idea to go
yet they can come to the uk and it is free ,so not a level playing field is it .
i am retired but if spain had a nhs for me then i would go to spain for good

ExecLine,
I also have great deal on my insurance when abroad, through my previous profession, so I am not questioning if the deal is good or not, I was just stating that any cover via insurance is not free.
Tanker is also right in that the cover foreigners get here is not the same as we get when abroad, although in the countries that are members of the EHIC system it should be.
Many year ago, whilst in Greece I required emergency medical treatment, and the palaver that followed almost made it better to go private than to go through the reciprocal scheme.
No doubt if a Greek had required similar treatment in the UK, it would have been far more straight forward.
Earlier this year I read a report on the amount of money owed to the NHS by foreigners who had been treated in the UK whilst on holiday (or those who come purely for such treatments, then disappear without paying).
For a UK resident aboard, it is not so easy, as they often delay none life threatening treatments until they are certain of receiving the money.
As said, it is not a level playing field.
Mind you, the blame is entirely with our Government, as always being too quick to roll over and accept things, whereas foreign governments put themselves first, foreigners second, as it should be.

The term -==--- comes to mind!
================
Just drop in on the following:

Francis Maude accused of 'lies' by union's Mark Serwotka:
Very interesting.
You can see the problems when you see a government states it is the final offer and then states they are still in negotiating.
Put you pride aside is arrogance and one can understand the distrust between unions and the said leadership of the country.

IDIOT SIGHTING no. 3
I live in a semi rural area. We recently had fred1new call the local town council office to request the removal of the "DEER CROSSING" sign on our road.
He said the reason was: 'Too many deer are being hit by cars out here! I don't think this is a good place for them to be crossing anymore.'

Jeremy Clarkson
The controversy over Jeremy Clarkson's latest comments does not seem to be going away. In order to add to the debate and annoy certain people all over again here are a few of Jeremy's previous musings. Enjoy...
"Im sorry, but having a DB9 on the drive and not driving it is a bit like having Keira Knightley in your bed and sleeping on the couch.
the last time someone was as wrong as you, was when a politician stepped off an aeroplane in 1939 waving a piece of paper in the air saying there will be no war with Germany
Illustrating the lack of power of a Boxster: It couldnt pull a greased
stick out of a pigs bottom
On the Vauxhall Vectra VXR: there is a word to describe this car: it begins with s and ends with t and it isnt soot"
The Suzuki Wagon R should be avoided like unprotected sex with an Ethiopian transvestite
The air conditioning in a Lambos used to be an asthmatic sitting in the dashboard blowing at you through a straw.
Koenigsegg are saying that the CCX is more comfortable. More comfortable than what BEING STABBED?
This is the Renault Espace, probably the best of the people carriers. Not that thats much to shout about. Thats like saying Ooh good Ive got syphilis, the BEST of the sexually transmitted diseases.
I dont understand bus lanes. Why do poor people have to get to places quicker than I do?
Clarksons highway code on cyclists: Trespassers in the motorcars domain, they do not pay road tax and therefore have no right to be on the road, some of them even believe they are going fast enough to not be an obstruction. Run them down to prove them wrong.
Britains nuclear submarines have been deemed unsafeprobably because they dont have wheel-chair access.
On Mandelas claim that Cuba is a good advert for democracy: Well Mr Mandela why dont you go and ask one of the 12 year old Cuban prostitutes which way her parents voted?
Now we get quite a lot of complaints that we dont feature enough affordable cars on the showso well kick off tonight with the cheapest Ferrari of them all!
On the Lotus Elise: This car is more fun than the entire French air force crashing into a firework factory.
Sure its quiet, for a diesel. But thats like being well-behaved for a murderer.
I dont often agree with the RSPCA as I believe it is an animals duty to be on my plate at supper time.
There are footballers wives that would be happy with this quality of stitching on their face.
Much more of a hoot to drive than you might imagine. Think of it if you like, as a librarian with a G-string under her tweed pants. I do, and it helps.
You cannot have this car with a diesel. Its like saying, I wont go to Stringfellows tonight, Ill get my mum to give me a lapdance, shes a woman!
Tonight, the new Viper, which is the American equivalent of a sportscar in the same way, I guess, that George Bush is the equivalent of a President.
On the Porsche Cayenne: Honestly, I have seen more attractive gangrenous wounds than this. It has the sex appeal of a camel with gingivitis.

I have got to admit it , he is a very funny and witty man , the Frankie Boyle of the motoring world . A lot of what he say's is what other people think but are afraid to say it in public , and of course he plays to his public image.
