Dress as we do, probably not meant literally, but don't dress in clothes that offend us IE the Burka.

I think some "Brits" would look and be less offensive if they wore the Burka!

Hoodie does not cover the full face apart from the eyes if worn correctly, IE not to intentionally hide the full face.
Also, I know of no instance where the hoodie was refused to be removed on religious grounds, whereas the Burka removal if demanded would be at high risk of the requester being sued for damages.

I agree with the sentiments of your posting.

However, there is a problem with the Burka and Hoodies in that they can be and used to hide identity and also sometimes to hide weaponry.

Not sure the most appropriate methods to deal with these problems. Banning the dress supposedly worn on cultural or religious beliefs seems fraught with dangers.

Personally, although I can see the advantage to the wearers of these garbs in the winter, I feel sorry for the women who have to wear the dress in Summer, when we have the latter.

According to my daughters it is very important what I wear and, it seems, that I do not dress the way that I should. Mind you the time that I bought a really trendy outfit they were horrified when I wore it to a school parents day.

er indoors is two decades younger than me and I work to a simple rule let her buy the clothes!! I just wear what she says.

I have no problem what anyone does or wears in this country as long as it does not impede on my/our way of life.
If I go to another country, either as a tourist or as an immigrant, I would expect to abide by their laws.
If I did not agree with these laws (not their punishments), I would not go.

I give 2 scenarios.

A serious crime is committed in the UK.
Several witnesses state that the perpetrator was an eastern looking female who was wearing a Hijab, decent facial descriptions given.
Police search the area and near the scene find a group of Muslim women, some wearing the Hijab and some with the addition of a Burka.
Suspecting that the suspect may be one of the females, now wearing a Burka, they request that these women remove the item in order for the officers to see if any match the description.
Women refuse and are arrested as suspects.
Imagine the questions asked at a later date of the Police involved. Just think of the media coverage and possible compensation claims.

Description is of a white European looking youth, with a hooded jacket, hood down.
Good descriptions re facial features.
Group of similar dressed youth found near scene, all with hood up and scarves covering faces.
Police request (demand more like) that hood/scarves are removed.
Youths refuse.
I am sure you can guess the rest.

I have no problem with beliefs, way of life or anything else that does not effect the UK way of life.
When it does, it should not be allowed.

Tolerance is like free speech, they are both fine until it benefits the minority whilst disadvantaging the majority.
