cynic, take a look at James Fisher (FSJ) - might be your kind of stock?? Very good long term hold/prospects - not the day to buy but certainly on dips. Support services in marine area, also covering oil. Locations near Carlisle/Plymouth and Norway. Cash generative and excellent management.

Seems entirely reasonable to me, Citi taking a whack too and leading today's volatility. That and the Fed, dollar flexing a little muscle.

Amazing that Gordon Brown sold vast amounts of gold at the bottom of the market, and now he's running the country, what a guy!

And gold hits $800, 27 year high - POG bucking the trend today.

Good article in FTfm yesterday which is worth a read on the gold bull market only just starting...

Well the activity with Rio Tinto is pulling us up suddenly. Who's to say in the next few years if we get bought out substantially higher.

Just doubled up here as I figure we are heading a lot higher in the medium/long term.

i like this stock too, as well publicised ..... i bought more on 6th at 1482 and am now substantially o'weight here, but am happy to be so while gold remains so strong ..... i too think there is a lot of upside as still some way short of the all time high of 1700 reached in mid 2006.

I think we only have to sit and wait. Taken some Rio profit as it's money in the bank that counts these days. Not sure if you follow Hambledon Cynic but news due and as it's in the hot sector, just could start ticking higher again very soon....

Another good start today, really making strides to start testing those all time highs - approx 1710p. I'd like to try and find out more about Malomir and the auction win. I haven't checked the website lately in case there's anything there, but perhaps we'll get an update before the year's out?

all good stuff so far, but bear in the back of your mind that things change and stock prices will ultimately get too far ahead of themselves (or fall too far in bad markets)

true, I'd rather we just stay steady for a few months around 1700p but the fact that we've had 2 down years has been weighing here for ages holding it back. Hopefully therefore just a period of correction now getting it back to where it should be.

"where it should be" is pretty subjective ...... that said, i have liked POG for a long time primarily because it is probably the cheapest significant gold producer in the world ..... from time to time, the russky hierarchy gets sticky fingers and causes trouble, but as the Hambro family have had over a century of dealing in Russia and also predominantly employ locals in their projects (i think that is correct), they have always overcome these glitches ..... nevertheless, sp will always take this "Russian factor" into account

lol, let's hope some come good! Who was it who said about forecasts, "they're all right, it's the timing they get wrong".
