janetbennison - 31 Oct 2008 17:46 - 172 of 714

I was unlucky with this one I bought at 1.6860, put a stop loss at 1.60 and got closed out at the lowest price of the day. they are now trading at 1.78 after hours do you think they will drop back down on monday.

janetbennison - 31 Oct 2008 17:52 - 173 of 714

sorry about my post on bt.a page but it was a barclays trade sorry I made a mistake I will now put it on the barclays post.

janetbennison - 31 Oct 2008 17:58 - 174 of 714

I bought 5000 bt.a at 1.04 and sold at 1.145 so at least that has made up for the barclays loss and my other losses of the day. about broke even on the day.

spitfire43 - 31 Oct 2008 19:44 - 175 of 714

Good trade Janet, that was my plan today but my limit buy at 102p wasn't triggered when it spiked to 100p. Will try again Monday.

janetbennison - 31 Oct 2008 22:41 - 176 of 714

closed in america 1.17 this share could be well worth buying if still cheap on monday they pay excellent dividend.

mitzy - 01 Nov 2008 07:33 - 177 of 714

well done janet to make 10% in one day I might trade this as a day trade now its almost a penny share.

In 2 weeks its possible to double your money.

471271 - 04 Nov 2008 10:48 - 178 of 714

which one is less resk is it to buy shares or spread betting ?

HARRYCAT - 04 Nov 2008 11:43 - 179 of 714

The fact that you are asking means that you don't really understand how they both work.
The quick answer is 'shares' as you should get a dividend & long term the price should rise.

471271 - 05 Nov 2008 10:25 - 180 of 714

Thanks you. as I only use to hold few shares and never use to buy and sale.
i Just start to buy and sale but I all ready lost 6772.00. now i am just hold them.

HARRYCAT - 05 Nov 2008 10:47 - 181 of 714

No offense intended. I think you should find yourself a book which simply explains the different investment methods. Don't lose what you can't afford & certainly don't lose it because you don't understand what you are doing. Good luck.

471271 - 10 Nov 2008 11:14 - 182 of 714

Thanks Harry. but I 30000 bought barclays @1.75 on 6/11/08 and sold today 1.94
which i all most recover my bt lost.

mitzy - 10 Nov 2008 13:29 - 183 of 714

I am not confident these will remain above 100p in the short term.

polska - 10 Nov 2008 14:11 - 184 of 714

mitzy - 10 Nov 2008 15:02 - 185 of 714

No surprises here the company is in decline they had it good for 25 years and have missed the chance of capitalising on their No 1 position ita all a bit sad really.
