SEFTON RESOURCES INC - UNDERRATED OIL PRODUCER (SER)

ptholden - 04 Aug 2006 19:53

???

Sefton Resources is an independent AIM quoted Oil and Gas company operating in the US. The companys principal current assets are two producing oilfields in California (Tapia Canyon Field and Eureka Canyon Field); it is also in the process of buying up prospective coal bed methane acreage (CBM) in Kansas.

Update from July 2007 AGM

Finance

I revealed in my annual statement that discussions were well advanced with
Banking institutions. The final phase of the agreement with a suitable bank
without complex and restrictive terms is now very near. This is weeks away
rather than months.

Oil

Oil production at Tapia has averaged 4,100 BO during the last five months. Which
is in line with last years levels. Once this finance is in place we will be able
to move ahead with drilling.

Drilling

We have stayed close to drilling contractors and we are ready to move forward
quickly when this finance is available.

Steam generation

The equipment is now in place at Tapia. Preparation time is needed to connect
the equipment and carry out the necessary trials required to get the main work
started. We anticipate this steaming will start in the next couple of months. If
successful a significant amount of oil resources will move into the Proven
Producing Reserves category.

Joint Ventures

Discussions continue with a number of interested parties to develop our Anderson
counties gas assets.

New finance team

A new CFO has been appointed with good knowledge and experience of the oil
industry. A new assistant to undertake all the daily needs has also been
appointed.

SWOT ANALYSIS

STRENGTHS:

Sefton has two oil fields, both producing. One is already profitable, and the other is breaking even. This should generate good cashflow for the company over the medium term.
Sefton owns 100% of both its major oil interests and is now demerging its non-controlled oil interests in order to concentrate on those where it has full control (Sefton has recently disposed of its Canadian assets for CDN450k cash).
Sefton is establishing a track record of using modern extraction technologies to improve the efficiency of its fields.

WEAKNESSES:

Sefton has suffered from a number of one-off factors. While these were out of the companys control the problems it has faced since 2002 have held back development and taken up management time. Investor disenchantment may account for the current low rating.

OPPORTUNITIES:

Sefton has acquired acreage for CBM (coal bed methane) in Kansas. CBM gas production is a thriving market and Sefton believes it has acquired the acreage at advantageous prices. While this is a longer term prospect it is an exciting one and could eventually eclipse the oil interests.
There are a number of other fields in the Ventura Basin and more generally in California as a whole that Sefton may look to target now its cash flows are stronger.
Eureka is a semi-exploration play which may contain further upside. This cannot yet be evaluated.
At this valuation the company may prove an attractive target for a larger player.

THREATS

Owing to its geographical location the company continues to be exposed to the threat of bush fires, canyon floods and geological interruption (earthquake risk). Sefton is taking steps to mitigate this risk by investing in Kansas and although Forest Basin area is susceptible to tornados - gas facilities have a minimal surface footprint.

Cant believe that anyone could be negative on Seftons prospects from here on..

At today's oil prices the break even based on 2007 accounts is 68 barrels a day.
Every barrel of oil over that level contributes $100 to profits.

Operational break even is a mere 60 bopd.. and operational profit before non cash items was nearly $800K.

Cashflow is less an issue than it ever was with Tapia as a cash cow and I am surprised by the low costs for the CBM pilot. Remember if that proves successful then SER can book the possible reserves and increase the core NAV substantially. Every 50 wells will prove up 4-5 BCF if all goes well. In essence this will involve drilling costs of $6.5M to access $50M worth of gas at $10 per mcf.

The already improved cashflow from Jan onwards will have improved the working capital deficit and improvement in the balacne sheet should follow when Sefton build on recent cash strength. Again 800 bopd from Tapia could be a minimum target for successful steam flood. This gives field life of 13-15 years and yearly revenues north of $30M.

To fully access Tapia requires drilling 11 more wells and building a powerplant for steamflood. This would be around $4M for drilling and $8 -$10M for a small powerplant.

The photos really show the improvements made and Tapia looks like a real asset to the company. Of course the bank will stage the release of funds. This is par for the course with commercial lending. Staged drawdowns of debt make sense from a risk management perspective.

Everything is in place to deliver and hopefully it all begins from Thursday."

Nice. Needs to challenge and break 12p (2-year high) and then we will be in new territory.

kkeith2000 - 20 May 2008 14:00 - 1838 of 2350

Due to the mix up with the website Sunday things appearing and then being taken off, apart from the presentation maybe we will get the flow results before the oil barrel just to add a little more spice

Nice recovery today would be nice to see a repeat tomorrow before the conference.

This is my interpretation if I have got it wrong dont blame the messenger.

Just back from the conference Heritage Oil where in front of us a hard act to follow they seem to be in every country except GB very under valued enough of them and so is SER not much we dont already know but these are the key point that I picked up when asked about the steaming results at the Q &A session J.E said the results where phenomenal when asked about production to date he said around about 200bld and after when all 11 wells are up and running with steaming I think, he said around the 800. CBM there are existing pipe lines in place that we could use and the fields are capable of 250 wells he didnt mention JVs or when or how it was going to be funded.

Overall if the 800bls materialise and I do not doubt they wont PLUS CBM then SER is seriously under valued by a factor of 15 I.M.O 50p+ BUY

Cheers driver. I like "asked about the steaming results at the Q &A session J.E said the results where phenomenal"

800bopd when all wells are up and running and steamed? That could easily be before the end of this year.
