New Biom Technologies (BIOM)

hangon - 16 Jul 2010 15:31

DYOR - - - - - - - - - Biom Technologies mid-July 2010 AIM
This is the new resting place for Stanelco, the wonder producer of starch-based food-trays...only they didn't catch on.Over the last 10 years to 2010 the 0.1p shares traded abour 2.5p then shot up to 24p during 2005 with promise of Tray-Trials I understand. Within a year or so, they fell to new depths and finished at 0.2p Of course they were full-list then and some were held in ISA's hoping there would be a big profit...only now these are distressed sales as the Company slunk off to AIM, presumably "...to provide better shareholder-value"
Perhaps someone closer to the Co. can explain why the new name is Biome
....rhymes with Home. Often it is done to remove the previous sp-history.
Could it be..so new investors can bask in ignorance, etc. I'm not aware of any "change" in fortune for SEO, rather the reverse.
In my limited experience, the longer the name of a company the longer you have to wait for any return...Huh . . . . . .
. SEO had been a terrible investment.
DYOR.
Can Biome be any worse...?
EDIT ( 24April2017)- "just woken up" -me not BIOME - sp is 154, but I note about June 2013 there was what looks like a CONsolidation . . do I recall many LT investors were sold-short?... as I believe the (new share) numbers were terrible! . . . Anyone?

Interim results to be announced on 1st September 2011, followed by presentation at Mayfair Hotel on 7th September 2011 (wine and canapes will be served........things must be looking up!)

greekman - 23 Aug 2011 14:53 - 192 of 644

More likely its the last supper!

3 monkies - 23 Aug 2011 18:25 - 193 of 644

Don't suppose they will pay the long time suffering holders our expenses to get to the Mayfair Hotel and a room for the night? I noticed it is wine and canapes (not champagne and canapes)!!!!!! Anything would do to get something out of the company. Obviously I won't be attending haha!!

hangon - 23 Aug 2011 19:11 - 194 of 644

Logically they must think it's worthwhile - yet I guess Retail Shareholders are a small% of holders.
Two Questions:
1)- Is this a genuine get-rich at last? - NO, the Dirs would be buying and the sp would be up, up, up (I think it's down today- isn't it always!).
2), is this a prelude to a Rights Issue - much more likely IMHO. The only time Co's give Retail Shareholders "anything" is when they want money - and find the City a tad frosty.
(Otherwise they'd do a deal in the City, where we are taken as suckers).I -shan't be going, even if asked.
EDIT: (26Aug2011) Yes i see they did have a City deal for 2m - but that doesn't explain the "presentation do" - BTW where is this announcement? As I don't see any recent RNS.

patshere - 24 Aug 2011 08:23 - 195 of 644

baggerbiome - 25 Aug 2011 15:56 - 197 of 644

I expect this to really get a move on next week ..results are going to show a massive upturn in sales and hopefully that has followed through to the bottom line.

"These Interim Results show clearly the benefits of the work Paul and his team have put into developing a pace-setting and robust business for the Group over the last four years. It is very exciting to see both of our businesses in profit for the first time; the excellent 131% growth in our wholly owned Biome Bioplastics business; and the Group operating loss reduced to GBP0.4m.

kimoldfield - 01 Sep 2011 09:04 - 199 of 644

I am very confused. I have read the report and it contains words like "growth", "sales", "profit". What is that all about? This is BIOM after all! ;o)

skinny - 01 Sep 2011 09:06 - 200 of 644

Well the share price is DOWN 6% :-)

kimoldfield - 01 Sep 2011 09:37 - 201 of 644

What I would really like to see is the sentence "The board recommends the payment of a dividend of "!

skinny - 01 Sep 2011 09:41 - 202 of 644

I think I'd prefer a share price that contains 1

greekman - 01 Sep 2011 09:42 - 203 of 644

I think it is down because people are looking at the basic earnings per share of 0.003 and because of the obsessively stupid amount of shares in issue combined with the profit level divided by the number of shares at 5,884,866,333 (2010: 3,326,431,562).
I think now is the ideal time to go for a share consolidation of at least a 10 to 1 ratio, although I feel a ratio of 100 to 1 is more sensible, (I agree with Skinny on this).

Any company that as a share rice of 0.23p and a total shares in issue of nearly 6 billion can't expected the market to take it seriously.

As to the results, I can't knock them although I bought at an average of 15p plus.
To someone who got in at the bottom when the sp was 0.11 this is turning out to be a decent investment.

dealerdear - 01 Sep 2011 11:45 - 204 of 644

What about if you got in at the top?

Biome Technologies rated at a fraction of projected revenues, says Edison
http://www.proactiveinvestors.co.uk/companies/news/32814/biome-technologies-rated-at-a-fraction-of-projected-revenues-says-edison-32814.html

Biome Technologies (LON:BIOM) is growing a profitable bioplastics operation yet it is being rated at a fraction of its projected revenues, according to City research house Edison.

Following the publication of the firm's first-half results last week, Edison, in an upbeat note, says Biome has taken further strides towards a break-even position - with progress made in each division.

Although Edison is not currently projecting break even before full year 2013, it has raised its estimates following the first half results and further upgrades are not out of the question, noted analyst Toby Thorrington.

For full year 2011, Edison has raised its estimates (or reduced the expected pre-tax loss) by around 0.3 million, said the analyst.

For the first half this year to June 30, Biomes revenues increased 55 per cent to 10.4 million (HI 2010: 6.7 million), with the operating loss reduced to 0.4 million (H1 2010: 1.2 million loss).

The firm's main activity is the development and sale of biodegradable natural polymers that replace and enhance products made conventionally from oil-based materials through its Bioplastics division. This includes two companies: Southampton-based Biome Bioplastics and Biotec.

Biome Bioplastics is responsible for the marketing and distribution of Biomes bioplastic products, as well as research and development, while Biotec acts as the firms manufacturing unit.

The company also owns Stanelco RF Technologies - a legacy business that designs, builds and services advanced radio frequency systems.

"Biome delivered improved revenues and associated contributions from all three of its constituent companies, with increasing acceptance of its bioplastic formulations being particularly notable," said Thorrington.

"Careful management restricted cash outflow in the period and left a reasonable cash position from which to reach an overall group profit position on a realistic time horizon," he added.

Edison said that Biome's share price had underperformed the wider market (-20 percent compared to -14 percent) since its note on May 11 about the company.

Edison reckons that the firm's key Biome Bioplastics business is being valued at just one third of FY11 sales - growing faster than previously anticipated.

"The profit model is not yet proven, but the company is moving more rapidly towards this position," said the note

greekman - 07 Sep 2011 17:35 - 207 of 644

The above states that they do not expect the company to break even until full year 2013 and then states that the company is moving more rapidly to a proven profit model.

Well if thats a rapid move bearing in mind they have been trying to prove this model for quite some time, then I would hate to see how long it would take a slow moving company.

Mind you, I suppose anything is rapid after being static for many a year.

robinhood - 08 Sep 2011 10:46 - 208 of 644

reckon 25 p/s in 2025 or 2125?

greekman - 08 Sep 2011 11:35 - 209 of 644

Robinhood,

So if its 2125 with inflation we are looking at a lower price than now.
