SEFTON RESOURCES INC - UNDERRATED OIL PRODUCER (SER)

ptholden - 04 Aug 2006 19:53

???

Sefton Resources is an independent AIM quoted Oil and Gas company operating in the US. The companys principal current assets are two producing oilfields in California (Tapia Canyon Field and Eureka Canyon Field); it is also in the process of buying up prospective coal bed methane acreage (CBM) in Kansas.

Update from July 2007 AGM

Finance

I revealed in my annual statement that discussions were well advanced with
Banking institutions. The final phase of the agreement with a suitable bank
without complex and restrictive terms is now very near. This is weeks away
rather than months.

Oil

Oil production at Tapia has averaged 4,100 BO during the last five months. Which
is in line with last years levels. Once this finance is in place we will be able
to move ahead with drilling.

Drilling

We have stayed close to drilling contractors and we are ready to move forward
quickly when this finance is available.

Steam generation

The equipment is now in place at Tapia. Preparation time is needed to connect
the equipment and carry out the necessary trials required to get the main work
started. We anticipate this steaming will start in the next couple of months. If
successful a significant amount of oil resources will move into the Proven
Producing Reserves category.

Joint Ventures

Discussions continue with a number of interested parties to develop our Anderson
counties gas assets.

New finance team

A new CFO has been appointed with good knowledge and experience of the oil
industry. A new assistant to undertake all the daily needs has also been
appointed.

SWOT ANALYSIS

STRENGTHS:

Sefton has two oil fields, both producing. One is already profitable, and the other is breaking even. This should generate good cashflow for the company over the medium term.
Sefton owns 100% of both its major oil interests and is now demerging its non-controlled oil interests in order to concentrate on those where it has full control (Sefton has recently disposed of its Canadian assets for CDN450k cash).
Sefton is establishing a track record of using modern extraction technologies to improve the efficiency of its fields.

WEAKNESSES:

Sefton has suffered from a number of one-off factors. While these were out of the companys control the problems it has faced since 2002 have held back development and taken up management time. Investor disenchantment may account for the current low rating.

OPPORTUNITIES:

Sefton has acquired acreage for CBM (coal bed methane) in Kansas. CBM gas production is a thriving market and Sefton believes it has acquired the acreage at advantageous prices. While this is a longer term prospect it is an exciting one and could eventually eclipse the oil interests.
There are a number of other fields in the Ventura Basin and more generally in California as a whole that Sefton may look to target now its cash flows are stronger.
Eureka is a semi-exploration play which may contain further upside. This cannot yet be evaluated.
At this valuation the company may prove an attractive target for a larger player.

THREATS

Owing to its geographical location the company continues to be exposed to the threat of bush fires, canyon floods and geological interruption (earthquake risk). Sefton is taking steps to mitigate this risk by investing in Kansas and although Forest Basin area is susceptible to tornados - gas facilities have a minimal surface footprint.

It will be very strange if we don't get any news today on the day of the AGM, some flow rates must be due now and if its not so good it would not be a day to release them so am thinking some positive news now

gibby i think you right.it should be bet15p-20p
despite few problems which ser should easily overcome it still managed revenue over $500k p/m..i like the fact that ser point out all problems.nothing to hide, nothing to worry about, and possibly increase production very soon.it sounds like more to come.if they manage to produce monthly cash flow over$500k,overcome problems and develop fields as its planned, ser could be a very good investment

driver - 13 Jun 2008 14:58 - 1943 of 2350

A bit disappointing and on my birthday as well looks like we will have to wait a bit longer for them to sort out the problems the cash flow above $500,000 looks good to me with much more to come as the problems get solved

A much more upbeat statement from Thomson Financial suggest the sp is well over sold IMO.

LONDON (Thomson Financial) - Sefton Resources Inc. said the oil production
for May from the Tapia field in California was 188 barrels of oil per day (bopd)
and the cash flow from its production stream will be greater than $500,000.
The AIM-listed oil and gas company said oil production from its Yule #7 at
Tapia has been encouraging so far, with a rate of 15 to 25 bopd since the steam
injection programme started, from 15 bopd before the programme.
Sefton Resources said it anticipates cash flow to continue at May's level,
which will support the ongoing development programme of the company's assets.

kuzemko - 13 Jun 2008 15:14 - 1945 of 2350

its def oversold.i think the problem is, there was so much hype and unrealistic expectation lot of ppl thought this will probably go thru roof.myself i thought around 20p i think if ser shows they can generate cach flow over 500k next couple months it'll get there.
report today is good the company still looks well undervalued.

driver - 13 Jun 2008 15:46 - 1946 of 2350

kuzemko
I agree I also thought we could see 20p+ today you have to put this in perspective even with all the problems SER still have revenue of $6m 0r $16.5k a day with an M/Cap of only 8m because the flow rates are coming from such a low with some solved problems this could easy double giving $12m+ revenue with more to come the sp now looks cheap IMO

driver - 13 Jun 2008 15:52 - 1947 of 2350

100K @ 7.76 Looks like a lot of the sells are buys.

kuzemko - 13 Jun 2008 19:51 - 1948 of 2350

;)

robertalexander - 16 Jun 2008 08:42 - 1949 of 2350

market really doesn't like the last bit of news.
wish i had some more money to top-up with.
I too think 20p is a reasonable target but it wont happen overnight.
bon chance
