New Biom Technologies (BIOM)

hangon - 16 Jul 2010 15:31

DYOR - - - - - - - - - Biom Technologies mid-July 2010 AIM
This is the new resting place for Stanelco, the wonder producer of starch-based food-trays...only they didn't catch on.Over the last 10 years to 2010 the 0.1p shares traded abour 2.5p then shot up to 24p during 2005 with promise of Tray-Trials I understand. Within a year or so, they fell to new depths and finished at 0.2p Of course they were full-list then and some were held in ISA's hoping there would be a big profit...only now these are distressed sales as the Company slunk off to AIM, presumably "...to provide better shareholder-value"
Perhaps someone closer to the Co. can explain why the new name is Biome
....rhymes with Home. Often it is done to remove the previous sp-history.
Could it be..so new investors can bask in ignorance, etc. I'm not aware of any "change" in fortune for SEO, rather the reverse.
In my limited experience, the longer the name of a company the longer you have to wait for any return...Huh . . . . . .
. SEO had been a terrible investment.
DYOR.
Can Biome be any worse...?
EDIT ( 24April2017)- "just woken up" -me not BIOME - sp is 154, but I note about June 2013 there was what looks like a CONsolidation . . do I recall many LT investors were sold-short?... as I believe the (new share) numbers were terrible! . . . Anyone?

Biome Technologies rated at a fraction of projected revenues, says Edison

Biome Technologies (LON:BIOM) is growing a profitable bioplastics operation yet it is being rated at a fraction of its projected revenues, according to City research house Edison.

Following the publication of the firm's first-half results last week, Edison, in an upbeat note, says Biome has taken further strides towards a break-even position - with progress made in each division.

Although Edison is not currently projecting break even before full year 2013, it has raised its estimates following the first half results and further upgrades are not out of the question, noted analyst Toby Thorrington.

For full year 2011, Edison has raised its estimates (or reduced the expected pre-tax loss) by around 0.3 million, said the analyst.

For the first half this year to June 30, Biomes revenues increased 55 per cent to 10.4 million (HI 2010: 6.7 million), with the operating loss reduced to 0.4 million (H1 2010: 1.2 million loss).

The firm's main activity is the development and sale of biodegradable natural polymers that replace and enhance products made conventionally from oil-based materials through its Bioplastics division. This includes two companies: Southampton-based Biome Bioplastics and Biotec.

Biome Bioplastics is responsible for the marketing and distribution of Biomes bioplastic products, as well as research and development, while Biotec acts as the firms manufacturing unit.

The company also owns Stanelco RF Technologies - a legacy business that designs, builds and services advanced radio frequency systems.

"Biome delivered improved revenues and associated contributions from all three of its constituent companies, with increasing acceptance of its bioplastic formulations being particularly notable," said Thorrington.

"Careful management restricted cash outflow in the period and left a reasonable cash position from which to reach an overall group profit position on a realistic time horizon," he added.

Edison said that Biome's share price had underperformed the wider market (-20 percent compared to -14 percent) since its note on May 11 about the company.

Edison reckons that the firm's key Biome Bioplastics business is being valued at just one third of FY11 sales - growing faster than previously anticipated.

"The profit model is not yet proven, but the company is moving more rapidly towards this position," said the note

The above states that they do not expect the company to break even until full year 2013 and then states that the company is moving more rapidly to a proven profit model.

Well if thats a rapid move bearing in mind they have been trying to prove this model for quite some time, then I would hate to see how long it would take a slow moving company.

Mind you, I suppose anything is rapid after being static for many a year.

robinhood - 08 Sep 2011 10:46 - 208 of 644

hangon - 15 Sep 2011 15:11 - 218 of 644

What? Another one . . . .
ten to one is possible, this will give the hangers-on a fat Fee and still leave room for another CONsolidation in a year or two.... along with a name-change like New Techno Bio Plastics International (NINY for short).

- Grief this is about as DUD as anyone can find.....
Do the executives take the bricks home, to be sure they still have an office the next morning - or are they out and about (doing the Rounds- Ho-Ho) =and too tired to get any business done?

Did anyone go to the ProActive Presentations....?
(7 Sept 2011, London).
This has been a woeful investment.

Anyone know what the legal situation in France courts regarding appeals? i.e. time permitted before fault/lapse.
It has been 18 months since the French judgment in favour of Biome/Biotec and as there has been no appeal in said French Court {line from email this morning; "With regard to the Novamont litigation against Biotec, there has been no movement on this case from either party since the Court findings in early 2010}" does this mean that they {Novamont} have given up on France case?
