Torotrak (TRK)

Anyone know why Torotrak is up 80% in the last two months.

colin nicoll - 26 Nov 2007 17:35 - 21 of 106

With lots of potential business on the horizon, it's time for Dick Elsy to roll out the good news in the Interims ! A quick look through the news of the past few days has revealed that Aisin (for Toyota) still looks very much in the picture. I also understand that Tata wanted a partner for IVT before proceeding, so I guess that there's another player too, and there's clearly an 'auto trans' link up in India with Fiat .... so just maybe.

colin nicoll - 27 Nov 2007 16:39 - 22 of 106

Disapointing Interims today, with a reasonable sell off and drop in SP as a result. The main issues seem to be the slow progress at Infinitrak and the lack of anything positive at Aisin AW. One new F1 team signed up and that's all ! With a bit of luck the Tata side will be approved by the Indian government soon so there'll be more news on the actual deal.

New Licence Agreement and Engineering Development Agreement with a Major
European Truck and Bus Manufacturer

Following the statement contained in Torotrak's Half-Yearly Results, published
on 27th November 2007, that the Company had entered into a Memorandum of
Understanding with a major European truck and bus manufacturer, Torotrak plc is
pleased to announce that it has now entered into a Licence Agreement and an
Engineering Development Agreement relating to the use of Torotrak's
full-toroidal traction drive technology in this client's commercial vehicle
range.

The total value of the Licence Fee and subsequent payments relating to the
Engineering Development Agreement is in excess of 7.0m, with more than half of
this sum being payable during this financial year. Under the terms of the
Licence Agreement the client has secured the right to use Torotrak's technology
to develop and manufacture transmissions for worldwide sales in their vehicle
range together with a period of exclusivity to develop Torotrak's technology for
use in the field of heavy commercial vehicles.

New Delhi motor show on Jan 9 ..... Tata to unveil new cars. Maybe DE's on a roll !

cjblues - 21 Dec 2007 18:20 - 25 of 106

The rabbit's in the hat ..... curtain call for the magician !
Torotrak look to be going places fast in the 1st qtr '08. No recent mention in Shares, so I hope they've just missed this one. The Tata deal looks like potentially bigger than most people have estimated, and we could have out maiden profit very soon. Hybrid developments just about all look like going CVT/IVT, and we've clearly not seen the big players show their hands yet.

Toya - 21 Dec 2007 20:46 - 26 of 106

I didn't know about the Delhi Motor Show - thanks cj. Certainly could be promising.

cjblues - 08 Feb 2008 16:56 - 27 of 106

Looking around the comments boards it appears that an important announcement is due, and hopefully by the month end. This should reveal the details of the already announced Tata deal, which has been to the PAB in India and should be approved any time. Hoping for a good Feb and March with potential for a doubling of the SP.

cjblues - 06 Mar 2008 09:20 - 28 of 106

Having watched one of my holding SEO start to take off, I'm surprised that TRK is so quiet, especially with the news expected to be announced this month about the Tata deal, and plently of others in the pipeline. A good time to get in now ?

cjblues - 11 Feb 2009 12:14 - 29 of 106

The SP is low, but looking for that bit of blue sky that's been forcast for a while. Time to top up ?

cjblues - 16 Feb 2009 12:50 - 30 of 106

A good positive Interim Statement today. Hopefully this will will start to generate lots of interest in the run up to Prelims in May.

hangon - 17 Feb 2009 00:05 - 31 of 106

Really?
- - - a run of 2000 units will create a small income that will barely pay one Director's salary. This company is a serial rubbish stock, that really should never have been foisted on investors those 15 years ago (was it?)...and I suspect their original Patents are starting to fade.
Their mistake was to try to flog this to Manufacturers, rather than get the demand from the customer.

cjblues - 18 Feb 2009 16:56 - 32 of 106

The past has gone and Torotrak are moving forward. You'd better check all the latest data, but I believe that the Prelims will reveal a bit more, with even more good news to come aloing this year. Infinitrak now in production, the Tata deal plus Bus + Truck info to hopefully come quite soon. Forklift truck and other car deals in the pipeline. Not forgetting KERS. Trains on the horizon ? Mr Elsey has set the stage.

cjblues - 26 Feb 2009 23:30 - 33 of 106

Buying on the increase .... good news to be confirmed soon ?
Could be some really big money to be made here !

emailpat - 17 Mar 2009 16:35 - 34 of 106

CJ-WELL DONE

hangon - 09 Apr 2009 16:18 - 35 of 106

cjblues - all you say may be true, but it's no different from the words heard in the past. D.E. has been at the helm for so long he's managed to wear out a whole cow (in leather shoes) - by standing perfectly still.
The sp has risen recently on such News as Tata Nano, Tata Buses and KERS, but we saw small increases every time anything looked possible.
TRK will need to generate a lot of Dosh to pay early investors anything....and the same (probably) for recent investors. IMHO the busness model of "Licencing" just fails to deliver for shareholders UNLESS the business is already running and there is reasonable visability, as to future earnings.

If anything is remarkable; - it's that this Co is still here.

kernow - 07 Jan 2010 14:33 - 36 of 106

something stirs? Modest accumulation taking place.

cjblues - 17 Mar 2010 12:49 - 37 of 106

Chart shows upwards at last .... results in May and with a bit of luck a few announcements beforehand.

cjblues - 21 May 2010 07:44 - 38 of 106

Results due on May 25 ..... things appear to be looking up. Much good news and this one could fly. At 23p I believe it's well undervalued and worth a top up.

cjblues - 28 May 2010 07:22 - 39 of 106

The results were almost depressing. Maybe deliberate. Have management got something else up their sleeves ?

hangon - 21 Jul 2010 23:04 - 40 of 106

Very strange buying today, as reported here...DYOR 180k buys against a handful of sales =1k3 shares sold after hours - no wonder the sp has reacted....yet no Co Ann....thought they'd need to...?
Oh well, it'll fall back - always does on no-news.
EDIT(22Jy10)- cjblues, if as you suppose there is something "up" then the Company must tell the Market...otherwise large trades will be down to knowledge not available in the Market, generally (some may say).DYOR. The problem comes when a Co wants to use their AGM as a "platform" for some good news - frankly I don't think they should, as it means the News is being manipulated (= delayed).
