3rd Quarter Results.

Key points:

Revenue growth of 5% driven by acquisitions and foreign exchange

EBITDA1 decline due to poor performance in BT Global Services and one-off charges

Rest of the business performed ahead of expectations, with EBITDA1 growth of 5% being the best year on year performance for five years

Total one-off charges of 336m as a result of the financial and contract reviews in BT Global Services

Completion of the ongoing contract and operational reviews may result in further substantial one-off charges in the fourth quarter

Decisive action to improve performance in BT Global Services

Free cash flow improved due to lower working capital outflow and lower capital expenditure

Total labour resource reduction of 9,500 in the nine months to 31 December

BT's retail share of the DSL and LLU installed base remained steady at 34% (28% share of net additions in the quarter)

BT Global Services order intake remained steady at 1.8bn in the quarter and 8.3bn over the past 12 months

BT Sees Q3 Profit Tumble By 81% - Sky News

BT has seen its third quarter pre-tax profits tumble by 81% to 113m.

The company blamed the decline on one-off charges and the poor performance of its Global Services division.

The group took a hit of 336m in one-off charges, and warned completion of ongoing contract and operational reviews could result in "substantial" one-off charges in the fourth quarter.

But it said it had taken "decisive action" to improve the performance of BT Global Services.

BT said its other divisions had performed ahead of expectations.

It registered revenue growth of 5% for the period, driven by foreign exchange movements and acquisitions.

BT has lost a lot of business to rivals like Virgin, Talk Talk, AOL, etc.

mitzy - 18 Feb 2009 12:53 - 246 of 714

maextro et al may be correct they may indeed fall to 15/20p.

dealerdear - 18 Feb 2009 13:02 - 247 of 714

won't get that far. The government are ready to Nationalise them if things get worse. I wonder whether along with the banks, all utility companies will end up in gov hands.

mitzy - 18 Feb 2009 15:33 - 248 of 714

well the nav is around 50p which may provide support but the shorters are playing a good tune here.

justyi - 18 Feb 2009 16:23 - 249 of 714

BT is only worth 50p at the most.

Treblewide - 06 Mar 2009 22:22 - 250 of 714
