Rockhopper was established in 2004 with a strategy to invest in and undertake an offshore oil exploration programme in the North Falkland Basin. It was floated on AIM in August 2005. Rockhopper was the first company to make a commercial oil discovery in the Falklands. Today Rockhopper is the largest acreage holder in the North Falkland Basin, with interests in the Greater Mediterranean region.

Everything is a gamble now--and a dry well result would knock confidence alot and the shares will take a nose dive--i have been here before when small companies were drilling in North Sea,etc--mmm--recovery will then take a long time until further wells are drilled and results known,etc--i would personally sell half my shares if i was still sitting on a healthy profit!!!---its your money though and it is up to you guys!!-i am just an old hand in this oil drilling business!!--i go right back to the Jackson NO 1 oil discovery in Australia in 1980's too!!--when a little unknown company called metals and energy minerals were drilling in Northern Territory and their shares shot up from just 9p to 99p in three weeks !!they hit oil in their first well and it was a major find with over 6000 barrels of oil flowing ,etc--BUT there were subsequent disappointments and we all know what happened to the share price-etc--company had to change its name and it became known as Claremont Petroleum--and so on.etc--take care with RKH guys and never push your luck too far!!

It's only good news if the oil spurts upwards halifax!
gildph, news could be anytime now, though the company indicated that it may not be before Monday. Shareholders will probably be last to hear it however! ;o)

Ah, now we know what your buisness is, your re-stocking your goat herd for organic milk production.....maybe you should try the camels they milk well too and not so much bending.....in between milking you could take them to the local race course and have a flutter.....

I expect the news re Ernest to badly hit the sp on opening, to be followed by it settling lower than yesterdays close.
Many punters feel that the sp will not be knocked due to the Sealion discovery putting a value far above the current sp.
Although I agree to that sentiment, surely the disappointing result from Earnest will knock the sp purely due to the high chance that it was a dry hole, now confirmed.
That is not to knock the company, or it's prospects.
When the final results from Sealion are completed, that is when the sp will be a fair figure over last nights closing price.
So Earnest a disappointment, but thats oil exploration for you.
If investors can't accept the knocks, they should look for safer areas to invest.
I am out at 0800 hrs for most of today, so will be spared the panic that I am sure today will bring.
