sticky - i'm quite surprised you don't suggest trading certain sectors - e.g. my fave household goods and house construction (hg+hc) = NMX3720 or even banks ...... hg+hc is very heavyweight and subject to significant volatility, but with a care and prudence (don't get too greedy!), i have found it very profitable in recent months

Please promote it Cyners. We could do with your experience on here more often get in and stuck into the sectors.

A lot could learn a lot from you.

Experience is something gained over time, a special commodity.

I like that JDW chart although it looks like it could revert to mean on the shorter term EMA.

strewth mate .... you guys have nothing to learn from me ..... as well publicised, i never do any research but read other peoples' and then just make up my mind whether or not i like what i see

my sole pearly of wisdom is also well-posted - never be afraid to bank a decent profit as a profit isn't a profit until it's in the bank

the only/great advantage of backing (or shorting) sectors or stock indices is that one isn't reliant on the performance of a single share
the disadvantage, is that these sector/index positions can be pretty heavyweight, and the subject itself, fairly volatile

btw, just for general info ..... IG CFD's no longer have any commission attaching .... thus one is dealing solely on what you see on L2, which is of course true and real time prices ....

IG also have another little positive
any trade will be done at the time you click, rather than the instant or few seconds later while the deal is carried out (electronically of course)

cynic - 01 May 2013 15:20 - 291 of 2763

i am not yet of a mind to short either ftse or dow and am now neutral in both .... however, those indices are worth watching carefully - especially ftse methinks - for the tide to turn negative
