New Biom Technologies (BIOM)

hangon - 16 Jul 2010 15:31

DYOR - - - - - - - - - Biom Technologies mid-July 2010 AIM
This is the new resting place for Stanelco, the wonder producer of starch-based food-trays...only they didn't catch on.Over the last 10 years to 2010 the 0.1p shares traded abour 2.5p then shot up to 24p during 2005 with promise of Tray-Trials I understand. Within a year or so, they fell to new depths and finished at 0.2p Of course they were full-list then and some were held in ISA's hoping there would be a big profit...only now these are distressed sales as the Company slunk off to AIM, presumably "...to provide better shareholder-value"
Perhaps someone closer to the Co. can explain why the new name is Biome
....rhymes with Home. Often it is done to remove the previous sp-history.
Could it be..so new investors can bask in ignorance, etc. I'm not aware of any "change" in fortune for SEO, rather the reverse.
In my limited experience, the longer the name of a company the longer you have to wait for any return...Huh . . . . . .
. SEO had been a terrible investment.
DYOR.
Can Biome be any worse...?
EDIT ( 24April2017)- "just woken up" -me not BIOME - sp is 154, but I note about June 2013 there was what looks like a CONsolidation . . do I recall many LT investors were sold-short?... as I believe the (new share) numbers were terrible! . . . Anyone?

Blah blah blah.

Prototype Delivery for Stanelco RF Technologies

Biome Technologies is pleased to announce that its Stanelco RF Technologies ("Stanelco RF") division has successfully delivered the first prototype portable welding device to Durapipe UK Ltd as required under the development contract announced on 10 January 2012.

greekman - 29 Aug 2012 08:01 - 307 of 644

Possible revenue of over £2 mill spread over 3 to 4 years.
Not knocking any sales contract but this on its own won't save Biome on their cash burn!

kimoldfield - 29 Aug 2012 08:27 - 308 of 644

Hmm. Their wonderful Greenseal machine was a prototype too!

Interim Results

Highlights
· Group Revenues reached £7.5m; loss from operations £1.1m
· Cash position £1.2m
· Loss per share 0.022p
· Stanelco RF delivered its first prototype portable welding device to Durapipe UK
· BiomeHT signed up for pre launch evaluation testing with a leading single use foodservice products manufacturer
· Actions to reduce costs by c£600k per year have been completed
· Turin court ruled in favour of Biotec, Biome's joint venture with Sphere, in the first instance with regards to the Novamont litigation

Paul Mines, Chief Executive Officer said:

"I am pleased to report that despite a challenging market both divisions have made significant progress in bringing our innovative products a step closer to commercialisation. The RF division is developing a portable induction welding system with Durapipe and has delivered the first prototype. In addition, bioplastics division has signed a pre launch agreement with a leading manufacturer of single use foodservice products for BiomeHT, which is our innovative range of temperature stable bioplastics. During the period we have also aligned the cost base with the subdued demand in the bioplastics market in Europe."

Obviously not looked at the detail yet (do we need to) as I feel the first couple of figures says it all.
Over the last 6 months revenue down well down, losses well up.

Losses in last 6 months £1.1mill.
Cash in bank £1.2mill.

And whats the wording of this supposed to convey, 'Group Revenues reached £7.5m', as it makes it sound like revenues are climbing upward. There not!

That step closer to commercialisation will have to be a very big and very quick one, as if they burn cash at the present rate, after another six months they will only have £100,000 left.
Just about enough for a closing down party.

The end must be nigh!

Greek - I've effectively written these off.

cynic - 03 Sep 2012 08:04 - 312 of 644

what is it with you muppets? ...... SEO was always a joke stock, but instead of dumping them 2/3 years ago, you stayed on board and even got mugged when the name was changed ..... oy weh!

greekman - 03 Sep 2012 08:20 - 313 of 644

Cynic,

Yet again you generalise.
I for one did sell out years ago.
Biome are the only stock I have held and then continue to post after selling.
My reasoning being that apart from my investment in the company resulting in a big loss, I still can't understand why they are still allowed to be quoted or/and trade on the LSE.
Some on here may remember that myself and others reported what was then Stanelco to the FSA, detailing multiple times when in our opinions they had mislead the market.
Multiple deadlines were passed, trials that just faded into the ether, with no explanations, or if there were explanations they were months later than was acceptable.
My main reasons to still post are hoping to see others start to consider official actions against the company as the only difference between Stanelco and Biome is the name.
I have never been one to gloat when investors loose money, but I presumably like you feel that those still in will end up with 'nothing'.

Because you still post on here, do you include yourself in the Muppet bracket!

skinny - 03 Sep 2012 08:25 - 314 of 644

cynic - it must be lonely in that Ivory Tower.

Greek - as posted somewhere on the thread - I bought these as a gamble last year and as posted above, I've effectively written them off.

cynic - 03 Sep 2012 08:33 - 315 of 644

not at all ...... i often make bad mistakes, but have learnt to crystalise those losses, even if belatedly, to create a c/f loss ....... to nurse a running sore is just plain dumb

No comment, other than I should change my name to "Miss Piggy".

did not recollect that she wore rose-tinted glasses

3 monkies - 03 Sep 2012 19:12 - 320 of 644

Looks like Conzo, Fozzie Bear and the rest of the muppet gang bought some today - Which Christmas kim? - not in my life time, Badabada.

halifax - 03 Sep 2012 20:15 - 321 of 644

who said never say never?!

cynic - 03 Sep 2012 20:23 - 322 of 644

greek - i am often a total muppet and happily own up as same ..... i do not gloat when others lose money, but most assuredly i will thrown buckets of iced water on those who proclaim company X is a hidden gem when the facts and history blindingly indicate otherwise ..... this stock should leave me speechless, but clearly does not

images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSCx1F9OY6fO66vTRz8m_AProposed Sale of stake in Biotec Holding GmbH

Highlights

· Sale of 50% stake in Biotec, the Group's manufacturing joint venture with Sphere
· Biome will receive a cash consideration of £5.2m
· The sale will allow the Group to focus on its strategy to develop high margin, application led products.

greekman - 12 Oct 2012 13:32 - 324 of 644

Hi Skinny,

From 7th Sept, 'The sale will allow the Group to focus on its strategy to develop high margin, application led products'.

Nothing moving as yet apart from the share price.

Looking at todays trades, it appears the 'penny (or should that be 0.08p) has finally dropped'.
If this share was in a limbo dance contest it would win hands down!
