Anyone know why Torotrak is up 80% in the last two months.

Really?
- - - a run of 2000 units will create a small income that will barely pay one Director's salary. This company is a serial rubbish stock, that really should never have been foisted on investors those 15 years ago (was it?)...and I suspect their original Patents are starting to fade.
Their mistake was to try to flog this to Manufacturers, rather than get the demand from the customer.

The past has gone and Torotrak are moving forward. You'd better check all the latest data, but I believe that the Prelims will reveal a bit more, with even more good news to come aloing this year. Infinitrak now in production, the Tata deal plus Bus + Truck info to hopefully come quite soon. Forklift truck and other car deals in the pipeline. Not forgetting KERS. Trains on the horizon ? Mr Elsey has set the stage.

cjblues - all you say may be true, but it's no different from the words heard in the past. D.E. has been at the helm for so long he's managed to wear out a whole cow (in leather shoes) - by standing perfectly still.
The sp has risen recently on such News as Tata Nano, Tata Buses and KERS, but we saw small increases every time anything looked possible.
TRK will need to generate a lot of Dosh to pay early investors anything....and the same (probably) for recent investors. IMHO the busness model of "Licencing" just fails to deliver for shareholders UNLESS the business is already running and there is reasonable visability, as to future earnings.
If anything is remarkable; - it's that this Co is still here.

Results due on May 25 ..... things appear to be looking up. Much good news and this one could fly. At 23p I believe it's well undervalued and worth a top up.

The results were almost depressing. Maybe deliberate. Have management got something else up their sleeves ?

Very strange buying today, as reported here...DYOR 180k buys against a handful of sales =1k3 shares sold after hours - no wonder the sp has reacted....yet no Co Ann....thought they'd need to...?
Oh well, it'll fall back - always does on no-news.
EDIT(22Jy10)- cjblues, if as you suppose there is something "up" then the Company must tell the Market...otherwise large trades will be down to knowledge not available in the Market, generally (some may say).DYOR. The problem comes when a Co wants to use their AGM as a "platform" for some good news - frankly I don't think they should, as it means the News is being manipulated (= delayed).

I've been holding on and off for years. So far it has always been a jam later share with more downs than ups. They're in a very difficult market with far too many vested interests in the exising technology and especially now, little appetite to switch with the capital investment entailed. Still optimistic though :-)

Another jam tomorrow set of results I'm afraid. The heady days of a decade back when TRK were going to revolutionise volume car auto transmissions have been swopped for buses and lawnmowers and volume production/take up by Tier 1 manufacturers is still just around the corner. The KERS type system sans batteries is promising, the superchargers less so. As the cash burn enables a few more years for breakthrough I'll keep my current small holding but more in hope than expectation.

So-so companies wantr to keep well clear of production, since this provides investors with real figures and either Profits or Losses (Grief they must have racked many up by now!). So any opportunity to "promote" the technology, Patents and other ballyhoo will allow the Execs to jet here and thither. Another signing (what?) and the merry-go-round gains a little speed, putting off the dawning of the Production day.
What's surprising is that anyone is still prepared to listen to these fools and wasters.
If they can't sell it to Lawnmowers, then F1 is "bargepoles" IMHO - the mechanical risks of failure being far too high . . . . and it will become World news, flashed across the World's TV . . . and TRK never to be seen again.....Yet Execs really want to smell the rubber and hear the sounds . . . and might give them a good day out...
Their loose connection with rural busses is about as good as it gets IMHO - run a few and compare fuel with existing busses over the day - I suspect in hilly regions passengers will prefer the IVT bus....for comfort - and so will the bus operator . . . ah, but that might bring Production issues to the fore....and Execs don't like that at all.
I hold a few, about double the current sp.
