Haystackat least you post something worth debatingthe Xmas lines are overpriced in the first placeit is not cutting profit heavily thats how it worksthey have made massive amounts on the salesafter Xmas is where the discounts hit profits at 50% or morethey are way ahead of expected sales and have caught the opposition outGausie is right with fundamentalsbut the better stores will survive and prosper and the demise of the weak will further strengthen M&SIMHO
That is why I am an investorthat is why I purchased shares under 2 several years ago and sold at large profitsthat is why I am building my holding and have been since early Novemberand there is plenty of room for those that want to beat each other up along the way.

Why not sign up to use the Traders room BB - only 5 per month? You can read the daily traders thread and learn a bit about trading and see what the traders are doing each day and their punts. For a just a bit more you can get Level 2. I can tell you you will really see what is happening to MKS then. Ask nicely and MoneyAm might let you have a free trial. I can tell you it is very volatile on level 2 for MKS at present.

tabasco - 25 Nov 2008 12:20 - 336 of 974

Haystackwhy would I want to talk to traders most are on the doleI know more about M&S first hand than any on this siteI am on a level at the opposition that is far superior to this siteso I dont really see the pointI can tell you it is very volatile on level 2 for MKS at present. I know!..
Thanks for the concern haystack but I have managed all these years when others around have falteredand I am too shrewd to change my ways for all those jolly good am traders!.I carry on slumming it!crack a bottle of Chateauneuf-du-Pap.with my beans on toast.
Why is everyone so nosey on this site?.

Gausie - 25 Nov 2008 12:26 - 337 of 974

Tabby - you're right as usual. I get my best trading tips in the dole queue.

tabasco - 25 Nov 2008 12:33 - 338 of 974

Gausiedid I say you were on the dole?telegraph published figures last weekI know more about you than you thinkyou lot are so easy to wind up.And then you change tact..... one day Rodney one day!

Haystack - 25 Nov 2008 12:35 - 339 of 974

If you are using ADVFN I can see why you have such a distorted view of MKS. The MKS threads on the dark side are a lot of nonsense.

chocolat - 25 Nov 2008 12:55 - 340 of 974

Future performance is also reflected in the SP - and old Rosie's been pretty candid about that. They're doing anything and everything to keep the show going, and if they fare better than their High Street rivals now - great. But their profit margin will likely still be down relative to their last figures, and the outlook will still be poor.

The markets might be rallying now, but come January - February at the latest - credit card and bank statements will have to be nursed through a very bad dose of flu, and then some.

Gausie - 25 Nov 2008 13:01 - 341 of 974

Tabby - yep, you've googled me, you've certainly quoted from the long defunct profile i wrote for ADVFN when we were getting that BB started, probably also found stuff about the companies I've started, maybe also found the adverts that Etrade ran with my picture on them - maybe also discovered some of the areas in which I provide consulting and/or training - but none of it's any secret. Hell - if you search carefully enough you'll find piccies of me as an 8 year old schoolboy - it's all there.

But you'd have to be a little bit sad to go looking for it.

tabasco - 25 Nov 2008 13:03 - 342 of 974

cynic - 25 Nov 2008 13:07 - 343 of 974

tabby .... apart from the fact that, though you are not abusive, you really do take up an awful lot of column inches with general joshing, i would have thought that M&S weekly figures are not for general dissemination, even to ones spouse

tabasco - 25 Nov 2008 13:13 - 344 of 974

Cynicvery trueand thats why I dont give them out!

:-)

(Just in case it gets edited, must ask M&S what they think about an ex-bookie having access to their sales figs)

Gausie - 25 Nov 2008 14:16 - 346 of 974

shed some more at 224.5 - thats all of today's 208s gone. Still holding a moderate long position from just below 207.

tabasco - 25 Nov 2008 14:44 - 347 of 974

CynicI am just a general josher.Gausie.thats very goodI particularly like the long bitI reckon you have got the hang of this trading malarkygoing for a walkpay a few cheques in.see you later aggravators.

Gausie - 25 Nov 2008 16:10 - 348 of 974

Closed the lot at prices between 217.75 and 219. That selloff was harsh with price supported by fake buy orders of 100k shares - all pulled by computer just before they got hit. I think this will continue to sell off - but not convinced enough to turn short just yet. This is building an ugly candlestick for today.

Wouldn't be surprised if someone's hired an operator to dump a large holding.

Gausie - 25 Nov 2008 16:31 - 349 of 974

looking to reopen a small long @211.5 in the auction, or a bigger short @224.5

edit: neither filled. Closed the day flat MKS.

tabasco - 25 Nov 2008 16:35 - 350 of 974

Gausieyou have given me the lot theregreat running commentaryscandal intrigue.makes hallmark TV look boringwhich of course it isntI rather pay you the tenner than join the traders thread!I think you are right with the candlestick.but I think it was Prof. Plum in the library.

Gausie - 25 Nov 2008 16:39 - 351 of 974

Well I'm flat now so probably wont be trading MKS for a while - which means I wont be posting on this thread, other than to ocasionally take the mickey out of any 'long term' MDX holder who hangs on to the idea that his shares are worth 30p when the market says they're worth 10p.

Over and out.
