BLINX and you've missed it, the next google multi bagger!!! (BLNX)

Still Waiting - 25 Jul 2008 23:22

Chart.aspx?Provider=EODIntra&Code=BLNX&S

With video search set to be the next big growth area BLNX have the software the likes of Microsoft, Google and NewsCorp would love to have.

In fact BLNX have done deals with most of these, the most recent being the UtargetFox deal which has been reported in the USA but not RNS'd in the UK.

Alexa rankings confirm the continued growth in usage as its viral effect spreads:-

The ITN RNS confirms blnx is the best in the market and is growing fast:-

Leading News Organization ITN Extends Advertising Deal with blinkx Based on Proven Campaign Success

blinkx Selected to Power Advertising across ITN Website and Syndication Partner Sites

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIF. - July 2, 2008 - blinkx, the world's largest and most advanced video search engine, today announced that it has won an extension contract that will augment the scope of its advertising partnership with ITN, one of the world's leading news and multimedia content companies. Under the terms of the new agreement, ITN will use AdHoc, blinkx's patented contextual advertising platform for online TV and video, to serve advertisements on the ITN website and its syndication partner sites, including Bebo.

Through AdHoc, ITN has already been effectively monetizing its premium news content on the blinkx.com network for over six months. During this time, ITN achieved a significantly better return, greater search volume, and higher monetization through blinkx than through other syndication partners.

AdHoc uses blinkx's patented speech-to-text transcription and visual analysis technology to understand video content more thoroughly and effectively than any other service today, and can therefore dynamically place the most pertinent advertising against it. The AdHoc platform offers media companies and advertisers a unique value proposition -- video advertising which combines the emotive power of TV promotion, with the relevance and utility of contextual search advertising.

The confluence of ITN's premium TV content, blinkx's extensive syndication network, and AdHoc's uniquely powerful targeting capabilities was a formula for success. By extending its partnership with blinkx, ITN aims to achieve similar returns by leveraging the AdHoc platform to deliver contextually relevant video advertising on its own website and across its distribution partner sites.

'We're thrilled to be broadening our relationship with ITN,' said Suranga Chandratillake, founder and CEO of blinkx. 'News content is one of the most popular categories of online video and there's clearly a tremendous opportunity for monetization. The success of our partnership with ITN is evidence that the blinkx AdHoc platform is a uniquely powerful solution for online video advertising today.'

'We've been delighted with the results of our partnership with blinkx and are looking forward to implementing the AdHoc technology on our site,' said Nicholas Wheeler, managing director, ITN On. 'blinkx AdHoc has proven that it can achieve significant monetization of our content, effective marketing for advertisers and, most importantly, a useful, non-disruptive experience for our audience.'

As a pioneer in video search technology, blinkx has built a reputation as the most effective way to search new forms of online content such as video. With more than 350 partners and 26 million hours of indexed video and audio content, including favorite TV moments, news clips, short documentaries, music videos, video blogs and more, blinkx uses advanced speech recognition technology to deliver results that are more accurate and reliable than standard metadata-based keyword searches.

hmmmm - winterfloods selling an iceberg at 69p

gibby - 29 Nov 2011 15:07 - 4032 of 6187

well glad i didnt buy in the end - one wonders when this will recover - going to stay on the sidelines for now

Gausie - 02 Dec 2011 14:31 - 4033 of 6187

Today's action is sending quite a few technical indicators bullish.

I've been scalping and am loving the volatility. I'm still net short overall with a reasonable size, and am still looking to add on weakness - but this could well be the start of the strong bounce that a few posters have been tipping.

Good luck all.

Scalp this? Who the feck would scalp this? New to this site but this is not what I was looking for! Max

Gausie - 03 Dec 2011 13:49 - 4035 of 6187

Maxxy

Who the feck would scalp this? - anyone who likes to trade volatility - ie every scalper. Do you find scalping more rewarding on stagnant shares?

Gausie - 06 Dec 2011 13:11 - 4036 of 6187

Still getting a fair few away at 75 and higher.

Gausie - 08 Dec 2011 16:15 - 4037 of 6187

... and part covering at 70 and lower.

Gausie - 09 Dec 2011 09:29 - 4038 of 6187

For those who care about fundies (and I'm not really all that interested), analysts are saying that the fall has happened not because there are any financial irregularities or fear of failure or collapse.

Rather, it has dawned on the market that BLINX is actually nothing all that special, and is just another minor player with a moderately successful internet business. They go on to say that if BLINX prosper, they will do so the same way as any other minor player - by struggling with adverts and page impressions to make ends meet. The key reason for the drop is, they say, the sudden realisation that the BLINX model is not easy to monetise and doesn't seem likely to lead to the creation of the fancy brand new revenue streams that many investors were buying into and praying for.

Maybe BLINX is not quite a busted flush - but it's no more than a very weak pair.

If all this is true, in trading terms it means: "forget about the heady days of 1+". Any trade from these levels, long or short is not likely to suffer a sharp move either with or against.

My money is on a slow decline from here, as people holding in hope come back to reality and sell to realise losses, perhaps for tax reasons, perhaps to move their money to better performing stocks. There may be a few spikes up or down from here as the bigger players manipulate against the falling volume to get better exits for their own positions - but long term, so long as nothing changes, a long and slow drift downwards with plenty on the table for those who are on the short side.

This all sounds like a lot of crap.

The simple truth, is that being a highly touted stock, operating on a PE of over 30,there is certain to be more volatility.

It is rather like its parent company, Autonomy, and they didn't do too bad.

You might call it a marmite stock, in that you either love it or hate it.
But, please spare us all the horseradish !

Haystack - 09 Dec 2011 11:36 - 4040 of 6187

Gausie's comments fit my opinion of Blinkx. It has been a lot of fuss about nothing special. Too much hype and ramping. I expect it to settle to a much lower price with very litle long term upside.

Gausie - 09 Dec 2011 17:02 - 4041 of 6187

chess - you post like a man who's long from 150p and stubborn.

Me - I'm short from various prices between 130p and 75p, mainly around 120p-110p.

Do we both have our money where our mouths are?

Haystack - 13 Dec 2011 11:35 - 4042 of 6187

Now sitting on tentative support at 65 from a few days ago. A fall below this should trigger bigger falls now.

aldwickk - 13 Dec 2011 12:41 - 4043 of 6187

Any chance of a bid for Blinkx at these prices ?

cynic - 13 Dec 2011 12:45 - 4044 of 6187

i think it's unlikely, or more to the point, it would not fit google for sure .... in truth, the company either has an excellent future on its own or it does not ..... as this board shows, opinion is sharply divided

Gausie - 13 Dec 2011 14:07 - 4045 of 6187

would love to buy a few more at this price to reverse at over 70 again - but I darent reduce my short - which is where I believe the next big money will be made - it looks like the next big down leg may be imminent.

MightyMicro - 13 Dec 2011 14:33 - 4046 of 6187

I've watched this off and on for a while, and I'm still trying to work out what it gives me that, in the end, Google doesn't.

With an alleged 111 patents (what on earth are they all for?) they may have a promising future as a patent troll, finally being bought just to make them go away.

Gausie - 14 Dec 2011 09:08 - 4047 of 6187

Derek

What does it give you that google doesn't?

An excellent short.

Made a big mistake thinking that this would rebound from 100p....could kick myself.....

chessplayer - 14 Dec 2011 09:34 - 4049 of 6187

60 might be the turning point.
However, the market is the big problem! Not too many in buying mood.
