SEFTON RESOURCES INC - UNDERRATED OIL PRODUCER (SER)

ptholden - 04 Aug 2006 19:53

???

Sefton Resources is an independent AIM quoted Oil and Gas company operating in the US. The companys principal current assets are two producing oilfields in California (Tapia Canyon Field and Eureka Canyon Field); it is also in the process of buying up prospective coal bed methane acreage (CBM) in Kansas.

Update from July 2007 AGM

Finance

I revealed in my annual statement that discussions were well advanced with
Banking institutions. The final phase of the agreement with a suitable bank
without complex and restrictive terms is now very near. This is weeks away
rather than months.

Oil

Oil production at Tapia has averaged 4,100 BO during the last five months. Which
is in line with last years levels. Once this finance is in place we will be able
to move ahead with drilling.

Drilling

We have stayed close to drilling contractors and we are ready to move forward
quickly when this finance is available.

Steam generation

The equipment is now in place at Tapia. Preparation time is needed to connect
the equipment and carry out the necessary trials required to get the main work
started. We anticipate this steaming will start in the next couple of months. If
successful a significant amount of oil resources will move into the Proven
Producing Reserves category.

Joint Ventures

Discussions continue with a number of interested parties to develop our Anderson
counties gas assets.

New finance team

A new CFO has been appointed with good knowledge and experience of the oil
industry. A new assistant to undertake all the daily needs has also been
appointed.

SWOT ANALYSIS

STRENGTHS:

Sefton has two oil fields, both producing. One is already profitable, and the other is breaking even. This should generate good cashflow for the company over the medium term.
Sefton owns 100% of both its major oil interests and is now demerging its non-controlled oil interests in order to concentrate on those where it has full control (Sefton has recently disposed of its Canadian assets for CDN450k cash).
Sefton is establishing a track record of using modern extraction technologies to improve the efficiency of its fields.

WEAKNESSES:

Sefton has suffered from a number of one-off factors. While these were out of the companys control the problems it has faced since 2002 have held back development and taken up management time. Investor disenchantment may account for the current low rating.

OPPORTUNITIES:

Sefton has acquired acreage for CBM (coal bed methane) in Kansas. CBM gas production is a thriving market and Sefton believes it has acquired the acreage at advantageous prices. While this is a longer term prospect it is an exciting one and could eventually eclipse the oil interests.
There are a number of other fields in the Ventura Basin and more generally in California as a whole that Sefton may look to target now its cash flows are stronger.
Eureka is a semi-exploration play which may contain further upside. This cannot yet be evaluated.
At this valuation the company may prove an attractive target for a larger player.

THREATS

Owing to its geographical location the company continues to be exposed to the threat of bush fires, canyon floods and geological interruption (earthquake risk). Sefton is taking steps to mitigate this risk by investing in Kansas and although Forest Basin area is susceptible to tornados - gas facilities have a minimal surface footprint.

Anyone who bought in like myself at the first "Buy indicator of 4.75 ( based on a simple 10 and 50 day eda ) i would feel inclined to sell as s/p is growing a little soft and coupled with mms determination to pick them up cheaply they will have a little tree shake . ln my assesment this will prob retrace on mon/tue . Thus allowing you to buy back cheaper still .Long term this is a corker .- very bullish .................Anyone who is in at these current levels i advise stick with it ! ,,To borrow a phrase ,You dont need a weather vane to know which way the wind is blowing ..... B/ chance et sois sages ,,,,a'bientot ...................Being a tec illiterate i am delighted as this is the first time i haave used my WAP fone since i bought it 2years ago to send a message to a board ...................A nice sunny weekend to you all from La Rochelle / well Niort but no-one has a ferkin clue where that is lol !!! @+ J

RAS - 13 Apr 2007 16:02 - 422 of 2350

Look it's quite simple.

JUST HOLD!

Sit on your hands until this is well into double figures IMO.

Greyhound - 13 Apr 2007 16:06 - 423 of 2350

Going nowhere!

TheFrenchConnection - 13 Apr 2007 16:10 - 424 of 2350

Rob have a peep @ VML or UMN -both U308 players ,,,,,,,Both have risen sharply. UMN was 50p when i bought in sept-- now 284 ....and VML was 8.75 not so long ago and after today and yesterdays leap it has risen from 22p to the touch at 33p ...Sound overbought BUT there is such a dearth of both uranium and stock that mms are falling over themselves to get YOUR shares . Both will at least double/ triple /quadruple before next annuals ,,,U308 is the real honey pot !!! Better even than the prolific oil rise between 2002 and 2006 and even better than copper in commodoties boom . Also nickel is talked about as being rerated as a precious metal . As are all the platinum/rhodium family ...... b/chance @+ J

robertalexander - 13 Apr 2007 16:27 - 425 of 2350

tfc
looking at vml but not sure what SP to buy in at as has risen sharply in last few days. have i missed the boat?
Alex

RAS - 13 Apr 2007 16:29 - 426 of 2350

Look at URA and INDY for good uranium stocks. VML good but has moved a lot in recent days.

TheFrenchConnection - 13 Apr 2007 18:03 - 427 of 2350

no my good man u havent missed the boat .......all 4-URA,VML,URM, AND lNDY are excellent stock ,and all have great prospects ...l like VML the most because its already cash generative and have specialists in GEIGER Ltd injecting both cash via convertable loan note and by purchasing stock . But as RAS says all of them are decent stock...Plus i dont think u will find u308 stock that is quality that hasnt gone up . Another is Summit of Oz but its not cheap either . And probably the "daddy" of them all. ....Wait for a lull ......Last time VML went up from 18 to 24.5 they retraced to 21p a week later so perhaps they may retract and consolidate at 28 or so ,,,,,...But thats a guess and would suggest u put your thinking cap on and pick the stock that that gives u the most leverage , and is appropriate as to your fiscal means .....Perhaps VML ...People still buying at 32/33p so u wont be alone; or lNDY which is yet to come of age trading at about 1.3p,,, The others are a tad more expensive but have excellent prospects ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Anyway good luck with SER which is what this thread is all about . ... .B/chance @+ ,,,J

Good grief, go out for the day and look what happens, must go out more often :)

Have to check my account, but might even be back in profit by now. Still wondering what is fuelling the SP. For anyone who has been watching the trades over the last few weeks, this didn't start today or yesterday, but some time ago. All we need to know now is wtf is going on! Not complaining though :)

(Go on then TFC, I do like to study charts, so I would like to know why the 10 & 50 eda (?) prompted you to buy at 4.75p and when. I'm always willing to learn from an expert, so would appreciate some advice, thank you in advance).

Interesting changes on the website:

Front page there is a big blue box - looks like ready for something they want to show off perhaps?

Presentation section - old link removed (to pres. from 2005), and now says "Presentation being updated.."

ptholden - 16 Apr 2007 13:13 - 431 of 2350

I sent SER an email last week, not exactly berating them for the lack of progress, but enquiring as to when we could expect some progress, or at the very least evidence of progress. I received the following rather short reply:

"There will be an update released shortly; possibly as soon as next week.

Thanks you your continued interest in Sefton"

Coupled with the recent surge in the SP, looks like we might have a right to expect some good news, fingers crossed!

That spread's widening again.

MM's happy to take shares at 7.5p today.

People are missing out on big short-term gains selling now, and obviously haven't done their research, they are just 'traders' or at least think they are LOL.

More fool them.
