Rockhopper was established in 2004 with a strategy to invest in and undertake an offshore oil exploration programme in the North Falkland Basin. It was floated on AIM in August 2005. Rockhopper was the first company to make a commercial oil discovery in the Falklands. Today Rockhopper is the largest acreage holder in the North Falkland Basin, with interests in the Greater Mediterranean region.

You would think if RKH have started an investor roadshow there must be some thing new for them to talk about and it must be postive or it woudnt be worth talking about.

Will there be new brokers notes out soon?

Edison report

"It leaves time for the work required to model the reservoir distribution across the multiple stacked fans in Sea Lion."

I was told from a good source that there was upto 7 stacked fans in sea lion hence i was gutted when the guns did not go off in flow test.

500 mill barrels + time will tell

14/10-4 Appraisal Well Spud
Rockhopper Exploration plc (AIM: RKH), the North Falkland Basin oil and gas exploration company, announces that the 14/10-4 appraisal well was spudded at 0040hrs GMT on 19 February 2011. 14/10-4 is the first appraisal well to be drilled on the Sea Lion feature situated on Licence PL032, which is 100% owned and operated by Rockhopper.

The appraisal well (14/10-4) is located 2.3km away from the Sea Lion 14/10-2 discovery well, in the southern lobe of the Sea Lion fan system. 14/10-4 is designed to investigate reservoir and hydrocarbon columns downdip of the Sea Lion 14/10-2 discovery well. Surprised at the lack of interest.....the sp could double here in a very short space of time......plus, better fill up at the pumps...oil is soaring....

Down......would you believe it ?.....

Time Traveller - 21 Feb 2011 08:50 - 4329 of 6294

I saw the RNS and the prices were up a bit in early trades. Leave my desk for 20 minutes and down she goes. This sluggishness is getting annoying now. Was hoping for a bit more strength as she tries to prove the size of the field.

http://www.proactiveinvestors.co.uk/companies/news/25723/rockhopper-exploration-spuds-sea-lion-appraisal-well-25723.html

It about sums this up

However efforts to build on this initial oil discovery have resulted in something of a riddle for the companies as well as top analysts in the Square Mile.

Despite a lengthy exploration programme that has followed only the original Sea Lion well has provided any concrete results. Both Rockhopper and Desire have had a number of complex well results that whilst not abject failures, have certainly disappointed investors.

Most recently the 14/10-3 well, which was drilled to 2,830 metres, 8 kilometres away from the Sea Lion discovery well, hit four separate reservoir sections, oil and gas shows were detected throughout drilling and live oil was recovered to surface. However on further testing three of the four reservoirs were found to have high water saturation (above 90 percent).
Meanwhile in the remaining reservoir Rockhopper has recovered samples via a mini drill stem test (DST) - with 20 percent live oil, which is indicated to be medium gravity. This reservoir, referred to as Sand 3, had 64 percent water saturation.
Although Rockhopper described the results as encouraging they clearly fell short of expectations. As each well comes and goes it seems that Rockhopper and Desire have been finding more questions than answers.

Rockhopper, and its investors, will be hoping that the Sea Lion appraisal results can re-ignite some confidence in this enigmatic oil frontier.

Repsol-YPF contract UK flagged vessels for Malvinas basin exploration
Repsol-YPF planned exploration for hydrocarbons in the Malvinas basin, off Tierra del Fuego has suffered a major public relations setback following on the Buenos Aires press revelation that the two vessels contracted for the job not only are UK flagged but also have links with the current oil exploration round in Falkland Islands waters.

Well I have sold other stocks today and have just re topped up on RKH whether its stupidity or greed..guess in 30 days I will know if it was good or bad decision.

HARRYCAT - 22 Feb 2011 13:54 - 4338 of 6294

Amazing that we all thought that fair value was c300p! Currently 235p and I am tempted to top up also, just for the bounce when they reach TD. I wonder though if the original expectations of recoverable oil are now starting to disappoint?

required field - 22 Feb 2011 14:22 - 4339 of 6294

I can't quite believe the level it's got to......a discovery is a discovery and tested....but the market doesn't seem to be taking that in....
