If Bt has bought back 2million 5 thousand shares to day. How come it shows on trades as a sell?

MMO2 rose rose 2 per cent to 124.5p as Deutsche Bank advised investors to switch into the mobile operator from BT Group, off 0.5 per cent at 206p.

Deutsche said negative regulatory newsflow was about to start flowing for BT with a consultation on the valuation of the copper network due on March 15.

Lots of weekend coverage of potential breakup of BT

BT battles to avoid wholesale split
By Elizabeth Judge, Telecoms Correspondent

BT, the telecoms giant, will make a last-minute appeal to MPs this week not to be split in two. The group, which has been threatened with the separation of its wholesale and retail divisions by Ofcom, the regulator, will appear before the Trade and Industry Select Committee to defend itself.
In a last-ditch attempt to stave off a break-up, BT will argue that it would create too much upheaval. It will claim that a whole BT is far more beneficial for consumers and that there are no precedents outside the UK for the successful splitting up of an incumbent operator . When it was attempted in the US it failed.......

Would a break-up of BT really be a bad thing for shareholders?

From SG Warrants site -
BT Group: Weakness
In the short term, the MACD is capped by a declining trend line. The downside breakout of 201.75 would trigger a bearish acceleration towards 192.50 initially. Only the break above 212.50 would lower the corrective risk, opening 217.75 as next up target and 226.75 in extension.
In the medium term, the stock is bullish above 177.50.

So far it's held above 201.75

And the latest from SG is

BT Group: Last chance for an upward reversal.

In the short term, the stock bounced off a bullish trendline but lacks momentum. Nevertheless, as long as 200 acts as support, look for a new leg up towards 212 at first, and then 217.8 in extension. Only the break below 200 would higher the corrective risk, opening 195 as next down target.
In the medium term, the stock is bullish above 195.

BT Group: Key support at 197.50

In the short term, the stock bounced off a bullish trendline but lacks momentum. Nevertheless, as long as 197.50 acts as support, look for a new leg up towards 212 at first, and then 217.8 in extension. Only the break below 200 would higher the corrective risk, opening 195 as next down target.
In the medium term, the stock is bullish above 195.

(03/18/2005 15:36) Soc Gen Covered warrants thread.

I thought we had a bullish reversal yesterday which seemed confirmed at the open but bang, down it goes. The RSI also looks very oversold. I've a fair few held for the long term but am also looking to go long using covered warrants - anyone here used them?

daves dazzlers - 22 Mar 2005 09:12 - 58 of 714
