Marchpole is one of those stocks which have had a really bad time. Boardroom battles, losses, price collapse, profit warnings up the ying yang.
Now all of those things seem to be sorted out, new management are getting to grips, new contracts and the price is on the up. So much so that Monday ought to see a 50/200 day MA golden cross.
DYOR of course, but I think I will be putting a few of these away at the open.

Seems to be a bit of confusion as to the conclusive outcome of this case:-
From Tuesdays FT:
'A complex legal battle between Marchpole Holdings, the men's fashion group, and designer Ozwald Boateng and his company, Bespoke Couture, drew to a close yesterday with both sides claiming a "successful conclusion".
Marchpole has distributed a Boateng range of suits, at about half the price of his couture line, since September 2003. The contract runs to 2009, but David Crickmore, Bespoke's managing director, said last night that the relationship was "under incredible strain at the moment".'
From Tuesdays Times:
'Ozwald Boeteng, the Savile Row tailor, has claimed victory in his legal battle with Marchpole Holdings, the fashion retailer. Mr Boateng instigated the action claiming that Mrchpole had failed to pay 150,000 compensation for ending sales of the O-Z clothing range at Debenhams.'

Looks to have stabilised. Anyway, two years in business is a long time, so plenty of scope for further endeavours. And time to persuade YSL to stick with Marchpole. All to play for.

Why has this been so shorted,is there something that we don't know?
Their move into South Korea hardly rippled the sp.Became interested in Hardy Amies as well.Great brand name!
The buying opportunity gets better but at the same time,I don't like to see them lose ground.
Look at Socrates's first posting which introduces this thread...have we been here before?Hope someone buys them out...who could that be?
Matalan, who claim to be the biggest sellers of men's suits in the UK?So,Matalan buys Marchpole at 35p?
But,is'nt Tesco interested in Matalan according to gossip...Tesco buys Matalan at 300p,my dream, because I bought Matalan simply on takeover rumours before I realised how well they have done considering the present climate on the high street.
And so it goes on.Whatever,I have always liked a man in a well cut suit.

ethel - I don't quite understand your third sentence. Was it you or Marchpole that became interested in Hardy Amies?

Quietly picking up on small volume either way. MMs seemed happy to absorb earlier selling, now moving up on small buying interest.

Sonic1,it was me who became interested in Hardy Amies.Sorry to be confusing.
Hardy Amies sp a bit static,by the way.
I was playing around with ideas last night and have no idea what is really happening with MPH whose results are out on the 8th of June.A lot can happen in the meantime and I can't see the sp reaching previous highs without some decent rns.The quarrel with Oswald Boateng really put the wind up people, plus the uncertainty about YSL.
Moss Bros has done much better this year,Austin Reed have not.Marchpole stands out as a supplier of more expensive bespoke tailoring.Very hard to tell what will happen, but the rich keep spending.Let's hope the results are good.

ethel - Thanks. That's a shame though, I thought you may have uncovered a tie-up between Marchpole and Hardy Amies.

Very close to breaking out of a double bottom reversal, any volume in the next couple of days should see it break into an uptrend.
Results due next Wednesday, expect EPS of 3p +

Heard a good report on Radio 5 this morn. There is a slight slowing down in the economy. White goods and tvs, stereos are normally the first to stop selling but clothes and food take a long time before they are hit particularly at the high end of the market, hope they are right.

Hard to explain, could be some uncertainty about the acquisition and how they intend to pay for it. Also this years order book isn't showing a great increase on last years. Management seems very optimistic and all brands seem to be doing well though.
Sold this am @23.25, think marchpole is a cracking company but sentiment is against it at the mo and that doesn't bode well for the sp.
Good luck to all holders, if your long i'm sure this will just be a temp blip.
