Taken as a lift from TMF
Hello everybody:
In 30 years of field drilling experience in Utah, USA, I have NEVER seen a kick that destroyed the hole to be anything but high pressured gas. Only gas, with it's low bulk modulus, has the energy to do such damage....not oil, and not water.
Gas would likely be methane, but who knows, that deep and that old.
It would appear to me that this is what happened, and the Operator cemented the hole (and the lower drillstring with it) back up into the the nine inch casing in order to save the well from a likely catastophic blowout.
Large gas blowouts can easily sink the drillship.
Wonder what weight mud they'll be using for the redrill to hold that pressure through that kicking section? Wonder if the current well will be able to hold that much hydrostatic pressure, or if they'll have to run another, unplanned casing string on top of that blowout formation in order to hold the pressure???
I am sure that THESE are the questions that are bothering Woodie this week...he already knows what he has, plus some of that kick either had to be seen by the MWD equipment or actually have been circulated out of the hole and been seen at the surface.
Comments, anyone?!

This is the second oily that has said a similar thing about the well kick. Any sellers may just have shot themselves in the foot.
As usual, I make the usual disclaimers...........

Nice one SWW. Do you agree with the suggestion that, if the cause of the kick is proved correct, it will be technically extractable and commerically valuable?

Do I agree?
Hmm, more like live in hope.
Even small farts can make a loud noise...........
I'll leave all the experienced knowledge to the experienced who know what they are talking about.
I may have thought what has been said, but lack the experience to say it out loud.

Fair enough.
BTW I always suspected the so-called butterfly effect was in reality a fart from the other side of the world.

Due early next week again.
There are cautions being posted elsewhere, but hang it, I want to be optomistic for a change.

Now you are famous, remember us little guys who started you on the road to success, as for meatballs, I really think they are better served with a tomato and cheese sauce.
Top them off with grated cheddar and put in the oven pre heated at gas mark 4 for 20 minutes.

Yes well beef meatballs are fine, but you should go for the more savoury option for a cooking medium.
I have yet to do it but horseradish can do it for me in my minds eye.
