Being new to this stock (and already in the red, but holding out long term) I have been looking at the graphs above, do any of you think that it will break out of its 200 day MA ?? The 50 day MA has a peak and trough pattern to it, so if theres any experienced chartists out there, please explain.

if you look back at the last 12 months yo can see the chart has a distiinctly lochness monsterish profile at the SP 20 and 40 dma level, marked consistently by distinctive double tops and double bottoms at each major peaks/troughs.
I'm currently watching the recent double bottom at 18p as my signal level. If the SP drops through here on almost any volume at all, I shall take a break form this stock, as I think it may be in the mood to go a fair bit lower towards the strong support level of 14p from Dec/Jan and May. I don't see any intervening stopping place. By the time this happens 18p willl be pretty much coincident with the 200dma - another sell signal if this is broken. A double break below both support and 200dms would strengthen my resolve to sell until we get to a point of stasis lower down from where to take advantage of the next rally.
However, given that it has weathered hurricanes in GoM and a military coup in Mauritania in its stride and Chinguetti produciton is scheduled for Spring 2006, I sincerely hope the minor rally of the llast few days continues to flourish back up towards the 20.25p and 20.5op resistance levels of last quarter. Although, I think we will need Chinguetti in full flood to break above here. For that I can wait a few months.

Is today 'bail-out' day? Large trades but no movement south. Have I missed some news?

By the drop today, expect bad news?

Well, true to my decision, I sold out at 17p this morning. I couldn't get an on-line quote for more than 10,000, so had to phone my order through. Why so many people are selling this morning, I have no idea, but I'm one of them. Immediately after my sale was listed, I saw the first buy of the day go through - just my luck to have sold at the bottom!

Just what do people think they are doing?
Giving the stock away is ridiculous at these prices.
I see the least anyone can sell for now is 16.5p.
Once the offer drops as well I am in for more.
Even the worst news must be well in the price now.

Wilma???
If that's what caused this, it's a definite buy.
nkirkup speculation like yours is stupid and made by a stupid person.
Save it for ADVFN.

SWW - I very much hope to be back in at some stage. However, the chart is a definite sell for the moment.
What's your view as to the sudden rush for the door this morning?

It started last week, today is the lemming-like resultant panic. Buying opportunity I think.

Look at the numbers stockie.
Not high today really, plus the sp is on it's way back up.
I think Wilma is the cause.
FWIW I had a few just now 25K, to add to my pool @ 17.3.
I am against the trend, however I intend to hold now till the Company is bought, or 3 years minimum so I don't really care.
This is a sober board compared to others where there are lots of comments.
My biggest worry is that proptrade has not commented this morning.
Could he be drunk with success over at ESY?

SWW and Nam - thanks for your responses. I'm currebtly trying to bring a bit of much needed discipline to my portfolio ann dspent the weekend setting stop lss policies for all holdings. I'm sad (exactly - emotionas are OUT from now on!) that SEY is one of the first to get stoppped out, since I have great hopes for Q1 2006. Let's hope I can get back in when the downside risk has abated, even if it costs me a few quid on the spread.

Stockie - you have done thr right thing for you, so that's all right.
Keep an eye in here stockie.
Your comments are always welcome.
Good luck with the others, I have been doing a similar thing to you, but I am buying from the lows of late so that's all right for me. My average on ths new holding is under 18p so at the moment I am happy.
All the best

No room for sentiment. Lesson learned the hard way. You must trust your own judgement and roll with the punches. After all, it your hard earned!
