THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

soul traders - 28 Aug 2006 10:55 - 5253 of 81564

LMAO!!

Just becaue I'm paranoid, it doesn't mean they're not really out to get me!

soul traders - 28 Aug 2006 11:00 - 5254 of 81564

Kim, it means you'll be able to get draught beer for 90p a litre (or however much petrol costs in the UK at the moment) from the pumps at your local BP forecourt.

The line-up of products on offer will be: LRP, Unleaded, Super-unleaded, Bitter-unleaded and Export. Mix Export with Coca-Cola (1.99 for two litres from the kiosk) and you can have Diesel!

So, in answer to your question: yes, and cheaper too!

hewittalan6 - 28 Aug 2006 11:19 - 5255 of 81564

Does that mean we will have a load of brewery lorries backing up the M1 when tax on beer goes up, and hippies hanging from trees demanding the brewerys research alternative drinks that get you pi$$ed using hydrogen or solar power.
Tetleys could sponsor an annual event to get tanked up on alternative beer and see how far you can crawl after 12 pints of it, and pubs everywhere can sell flowers and sunglasses.
We can have our registration numbers noted before we get served, so we don't sup up and disappear without paying, and pub toilets can be fitted with devices for emmissions tests.
Finally, every time you walk into a boozer that is not your regular, the barman can open your mouth, peer in and shake his head. Drawing his breath in sharply he can say," What rubbish you been putting in here then? Some bloody cowboy been looking after this. It's gonna cost you".
The possibilities are endless.

90p a litre ST?! When were you last over here? Is it worth me going over to Germany to fill my tank?! 99p/1 is the average here at the moment. As for serving beer at the pumps, I'm not sure.....I filled my tank with unleaded instead of diesel once so I might well get my Coke mixed up with my Export. But with all this "don't drink and drive" advice it will be nice to able able to finish my drink at the pumps before driving off. D'you think there will be a proper bar there with a runner to rest my foot as I slurp? I suppose the more trendy ones will have shiny accelerator pedals to rest feet on, with brake pedals for the ladies.

Great ideas, Kim and Al! Kim, you're right, it's been a very long time since I bought fuel in Britain (at least 2.5 years). It's almost worth coming over to Germany to fill your tank - if you bring back some fags as well you've just about paid for the channel crossing, I reckon. I think petrol over here costs just around 1.00 a litre, but I wouldn't swear to it as I am not a car owner (due to public transport being so good here that a city-dweller finds a car becomes far more of a liability than an asset).

The cheapest fuel I have ever seen was in South Africa in 2000 - 30p a litre! It was so cheap, people were buying bottles of whisky in Duty-Free, pouring away the whisky and filling up with unleaded and bringing it back to the UK ;O)

Although it was probably still cheaper in the US at the time . . .

Back from Italy if you haven't done Mount Vesuvius and Pompeii put it on your list well worth a visit.

Mount Vesuvius you get to go right to the lip of the crater.

OOOhhh-eeerrrrr, No Missus. Don't titter.

bosley - 28 Aug 2006 21:12 - 5268 of 81564

definately worth a read , driver. it's about an aqueduct engineer sent to pompeii to find out why the aqua augusta has stopped flowing.

hewittalan6 - 28 Aug 2006 21:16 - 5269 of 81564

Don't want to spoil the story, but its full of magma, and the engineer ends up a pork scratching.

driver - 28 Aug 2006 23:14 - 5270 of 81564

Why is it that people say they "slept like a baby" when babies wake up every two hours?

hewittalan6 - 29 Aug 2006 08:59 - 5271 of 81564

Hows the currency trading going, Bos.
I've scratched around my office drawers and found 7 UAE Dirhams, $14USD, 46 Mexican Peso, and 3 eurocents. I was going to sell it all and buy Thailand Bhat, but when I phoned the broker he said something very unprofessional to me and slammed the phone down!!
I'll send 'em on to you, if they will help you.
