New Biom Technologies (BIOM)

hangon - 16 Jul 2010 15:31

DYOR - - - - - - - - - Biom Technologies mid-July 2010 AIM
This is the new resting place for Stanelco, the wonder producer of starch-based food-trays...only they didn't catch on.Over the last 10 years to 2010 the 0.1p shares traded abour 2.5p then shot up to 24p during 2005 with promise of Tray-Trials I understand. Within a year or so, they fell to new depths and finished at 0.2p Of course they were full-list then and some were held in ISA's hoping there would be a big profit...only now these are distressed sales as the Company slunk off to AIM, presumably "...to provide better shareholder-value"
Perhaps someone closer to the Co. can explain why the new name is Biome
....rhymes with Home. Often it is done to remove the previous sp-history.
Could it be..so new investors can bask in ignorance, etc. I'm not aware of any "change" in fortune for SEO, rather the reverse.
In my limited experience, the longer the name of a company the longer you have to wait for any return...Huh . . . . . .
. SEO had been a terrible investment.
DYOR.
Can Biome be any worse...?
EDIT ( 24April2017)- "just woken up" -me not BIOME - sp is 154, but I note about June 2013 there was what looks like a CONsolidation . . do I recall many LT investors were sold-short?... as I believe the (new share) numbers were terrible! . . . Anyone?

Results due on Thursday, is that why they released this RNS today, to soften the blow maybe?! :o)

I did not think anyone out there was still in this, if it does come back into fruition I think I will have a go about claiming my losses.!!! ----Not that I will stand a chance.

Any contract albeit a small one is better than none, although I would not call a contract of £1.5 million substantive.

Balerboy - 24 Mar 2014 17:37 - 539 of 644

Do you think it will move the sp to 4700p??

Overall world revenue for biodegradable plastic packaging will reach $2.38bn in 2014.
Our work profiles leading companies, assessing their technologies and products. You will see which technologies and organisations hold greatest potential.
In particular, we profile these leading 19 companies
• BASF
• The Dow Chemical Company
• NatureWorks
• Braskem
• Cereplast
• Novamont
• Metabolix
• Kaneka Corporation

I think we all believe that the market is there, problem is that the Biome management could not give water away to a man dying of thirst.

With overall world revenue for biodegradable plastic packaging predicted to reach $2.38bn (£1,419,510,000) in 2014 and that in 2013 Biome's group revenues were £2.0m with £1.0m of that from the RF Technologies division, which is 1/1419th of this years forcast, they can hardly be called 'a leading company'.

kimoldfield - 17 Apr 2014 18:14 - 542 of 644

Oh ye of little faith! :o) Well, never say never. If BIOM manage to struggle on for another couple of years they may still be included in the list of19 leading companies! Cue Skinny with a cartoon of a pig flying!

greekman - 18 Apr 2014 06:58 - 543 of 644

Talking about faith, although I am an atheist, I think there is more chance of Jesus being reborn than Biome being resurrected (well it is Easter).

As to Biome struggling on for another couple of years, now that would be a miracle.

Todays trading update.

Without knowing what profit they are making on the revenue reported it is difficult to know if they are turning the corner or not.

I do appreciate that in trading updates, profit is not usually mentioned, but I hope for those still holding, that they have not reduced any profit margins in order to be able to sell their products.

The question has to be, 'Why no RNS's re increase orders or new contracts'

Looking at the lack of interest on here, they will have to do a lot better during the rest of the year

kimoldfield - 23 Apr 2014 08:43 - 545 of 644

Up 17.54%. Reminds me of the SEO days!

greekman - 23 Apr 2014 08:47 - 546 of 644

Ah, SEO, the ghost of Biom's past.

robinhood - 23 Apr 2014 09:00 - 547 of 644

Whatever next.............Divvies coming up???????????????

greekman - 23 Apr 2014 09:13 - 548 of 644

Probably a salary increase for the board.

kimoldfield - 23 Apr 2014 09:17 - 549 of 644

£50 by Christmas, that's what is next! :o)

greekman - 29 May 2014 09:35 - 550 of 644

Rumour,

I understand that Nick Clegg is joining the board as head of strategy.

kimoldfield - 29 May 2014 12:42 - 551 of 644

Excellent! He's bound to make some liberal changes! On the other hand....... :o)

greekman - 29 May 2014 16:29 - 552 of 644

Touché

greekman - 04 Jul 2014 16:32 - 553 of 644

No trades as yet all week, and yet some people still insist that there is a stake builder out there.

Seen more steak in a half eaten burger king.

kimoldfield - 04 Jul 2014 16:54 - 554 of 644

Really big news coming on Monday. Not sure which Monday or even which year but it is going to come as sure as eggs are acorns! :o)

greekman - 04 Jul 2014 17:09 - 555 of 644

Ah, Kim, I bet you are the shorter of Biome shares that's causing all the trouble.

I suppose you are waiting for them to reach that old 1p figure then you will buy up all the shares and become sole owner.
