I think you'll find they've reduced their holding from 10.58%. Please do your research properly.
Not too concerned as they've been in since the sub-40p days so they're probably just top-slicing.

Boucher sees great Kazakh potential, promises aid to reach goals
Washington: U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, Richard A. Boucher, has said that Kazakhstan has great potential to develop and play a larger role in world energy, regional affairs, and in promoting reform and democracy and pledged the United States will continue to help Kazakhstan along its way.
Boucher, who visited Kazakhstan April 8 to 10, had met with Foreign Minister Kassymzhomart Tokaev, other officials and leaders of political parties and nongovernmental organizations.
His discussions with Tokaev focused on ways of promoting regional security and integration. Earlier this month, they had discussed similar subjects at the conference in Kabul, Afghanistan.
In an April 8 interview with Channel 31 TV in Almaty, Boucher said Kazakhstan has great potential in energy, great potential in agriculture, great potential as a stabilizer in this region.
Our goal is to figure out how to help Kazakhstan realize that. Some of its economic, some of its security, some of its by helping Kazakhstan achieve democracy. All those things go together, and they all support each other, Boucher said.
Our goal is to make sure these countries get the opportunities and the attention they deserve from the United States. One of our goals is to make sure we dont lose all the connections between Central Asia and Europe connections between the Council of Europe, the OSCE, the European Bank, NATO, and the European Union. But well see what we can do to promote the other connections to the south, he added.
Before the recent State Department reorganization, U.S. managed relations with Kazakhstan and four other countries of Central Asia through the 54 nation Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs.
Boucher said in an interview, theres a perception in the United States that Kazakhstan is, first of all, a big country, an important country in a key location Kazakhstan can and will benefit from regional ties. Kazakhstan will benefit from having more options, a variety of ways to sell oil and gas, and electricity.
The U.S. diplomat said the United States has recognized positive movement in Kazakhstan, and noted, Were also looking for movement towards rule of law, fighting corruption, building democratic institutions, so that this kind of change can go into the future.

Soul Traders,
I'm guessing it's people buying ahead of the Well 104 fracture stimulation results (due in May), exploration Well 103 (also due in May) and the appraisal Well 106 completion (expected in April), as per the "Development Update" RNS of 27-03-06.

Strawbs, just to clarify, VOG aren't scheduled to release results for 103 or 106 - it's just the drilling that is due to be completed in April/May.
Rise seems a bit odd if its only related to the completion of 106 drilling. Perhaps there will be additional unexpected news on the asset front. A purchase?

AndrewThomson77,
I don't think they're scheduled to release any information on anything, unless it's likely to affect the share price. I was just pointing out three events happening over the next 6 to 8 weeks, outlined in a recent RNS, that may be a reason for the recent rise. e.g. People buying on the expectation of a good announcement coming from one or more of these events. As ever, just my opinion though.

i like VOG a lot, and it could be argued that i already have far too great a % in my portfolio ..... I have bought above the current price, and i have bought below it, and I have traded in/out very profitably over the last months ...... so that gives you a personal pic.
My own view is that VOG should have quite a long way to go, though for sure there will be scares and alarums en route - as happened a couple of weeks back ..... However, VOG certainly look to be sitting on some very valuable real estate and continue to build a solid reputation in the markets (unlike Regal!) .... IMO, this share is still worth buying even (some may say especially) now, but don't mortgage your house

Frank Williams, welcome to the VOG thread! I think you'll find some very useful information and argument has already been posted on this thread over the last month or two, so please give it the once-over. You'll probably find that most people posting here are in favour of buying - I certainly am - but you should do your own research and be able to stomach sudden price drops as well as sudden rises.
Personally speaking, I would hesitate to tell you what you "should" do, because of the risk that you will be disappointed by an unforeseen drop in the share price, panic and sell at a loss. I would recommend you analyse the company and its prospects thoroughly, as well as peoples' arguments for and against investing, develop a sense of conviction about them and then act accordingly. Having done so, be prepared to stick with it for a while. From my point of view, I am satisfied that this company has outstanding prospects and that its share price will rise considerably, at least in the medium term, if not quite soon. That means I was able to ride out the recent choppy waters without too much bother, even though it meant my recent big investment at 228p was running a loss for several weeks, although my earlier buys at an average of 85p were all still nicely in profit.
You should be aware that other people on the MoneyAM forum consider VOG to be risky - as are all stocks in one way or another.
I'm sorry if you think I'm being obstructive by not giving a yes/no answer, but I do believe in investors being equipped to make their own decisions, especially having been in the position of being an easily-panicked newbie myself! That said, if you have any specific questions then I and/or many of the other punters here will be delighted to answer them.

Frank, to buy a stock based on the comments here would be a mistake my friend. Do your own research. VOG is in its infancy and investors are very reliant on the forthcoming drilling results. Whilst the consensus is they will be positive, there are no certainties. This stock certainly comes with a high amount of risk IMO. That said, our investment club has a substantial VOG holding and we are very overweight on oil stocks. Eggs is one basket, just like Warren Buffett!
