New Biom Technologies (BIOM)

hangon - 16 Jul 2010 15:31

DYOR - - - - - - - - - Biom Technologies mid-July 2010 AIM
This is the new resting place for Stanelco, the wonder producer of starch-based food-trays...only they didn't catch on.Over the last 10 years to 2010 the 0.1p shares traded abour 2.5p then shot up to 24p during 2005 with promise of Tray-Trials I understand. Within a year or so, they fell to new depths and finished at 0.2p Of course they were full-list then and some were held in ISA's hoping there would be a big profit...only now these are distressed sales as the Company slunk off to AIM, presumably "...to provide better shareholder-value"
Perhaps someone closer to the Co. can explain why the new name is Biome
....rhymes with Home. Often it is done to remove the previous sp-history.
Could it be..so new investors can bask in ignorance, etc. I'm not aware of any "change" in fortune for SEO, rather the reverse.
In my limited experience, the longer the name of a company the longer you have to wait for any return...Huh . . . . . .
. SEO had been a terrible investment.
DYOR.
Can Biome be any worse...?
EDIT ( 24April2017)- "just woken up" -me not BIOME - sp is 154, but I note about June 2013 there was what looks like a CONsolidation . . do I recall many LT investors were sold-short?... as I believe the (new share) numbers were terrible! . . . Anyone?

greekman - 23 Jul 2014 17:34 - 568 of 644

No point, as far as Biome is concerned the plug to their cash drain is bio-degradable.

kimoldfield - 23 Jul 2014 19:15 - 569 of 644

Well, if it is they can't sell that either!

greekman - 24 Jul 2014 08:23 - 570 of 644

So update tomorrow,

My questions and predictions are,

1 Will they beat expectations, (theirs or ours), there is no answer to that as we never know what their expectations are.

2 Will new contract/contracts signed be mentioned (no).

3 Will there be a mention re 'The way forward and we expect the following 3/6/9 months to bring increased interest in Biome products, (yes).

4 Will cash in back have increased/decreased, (I go for the later).

5 Will there be disappointment on the part of the company (no) on the part of shareholders, (you bet).

6 Will the words, difficult trading period, deep in negotiations be mentioned (odds on).

And pre update, will holder be able to sleep tonight re the excitement of anticipation.

kimoldfield - 24 Jul 2014 10:27 - 571 of 644

I won't be losing any sleep because I am certain that I will be disappointed anyway so that when they release their disappointing news I won't be disappointed.

Well, I know what I mean! :o)

Trading update

kimoldfield - 24 Jul 2014 15:48 - 575 of 644

The Group's revenues and cash are slightly ahead of the Board's expectations at the mid-year point with the reporting of the interim results scheduled for 3 September 2014.

This has been a positive first half for the Group and the Board is confident that this progress can be maintained for the full year.

What! Seriously?!

Quick....buy, buy, buy! :o)

Shortie - 24 Jul 2014 16:24 - 576 of 644

The board is confident that progress can be maintained for the full year... I'm lost, what progress?!?... Lets ask the board??

kimoldfield - 24 Jul 2014 17:32 - 577 of 644

Lol!

greekman - 24 Jul 2014 18:17 - 578 of 644

Well I admit to being wrong on point 1

Point 2, correct re No new contract or contracts signed, but as per point 3 usual hints without substance.

Point 3 wrong there as well as No mention of 'the way forward and we expect etc,

Point 4 Correct re cash, but only just.

Point 5, without more detail which will hopefully be mentioned in results, hard to say.

Point 6 Wrong as again words mentioned were not used.

So in all a decent TU although I will await more substance before I start praising Biome and their management and I will not be jumping back in as still thrice bitten (and more) twice shy.

kimoldfield - 25 Jul 2014 00:42 - 579 of 644

Oh ye of little faith.......but a sensible head! :o)

greekman - 25 Jul 2014 10:08 - 580 of 644

Morning Kim,

Looking at the trades since the TU was released, it looks like most are waiting to see proof one way or another as to presence or lack of substance.

kimoldfield - 25 Jul 2014 12:42 - 581 of 644

Could well be the case Greek, we are used to waiting! :o)

Over the last couple of months there has been much in the media re bio degradable coffee pods especially since Nespresso settled with the French regulator in early September to lift the monopoly on their coffee pods.

Oxfam fair trade, Adam Kickstart, Caffe Pod, Carte Norie, Bellarom are just a few that are gathering pace in the coffee pod boom and with more and more manufacturers getting in on the act, where are Biome.

I would have though that anyone still confident in Biome would by now have expected a decent update on where the company is in the scheme of things, mind you I among no doubt many others are not surprised and feel that Biome once again have missed the boat.

So revenues down in the third quarter to £0.5m from £0.6m earned in the same quarter of last year.

OK revenue up for the nine months to 30 September 2014 to £2.8m, 85% ahead of the same period in 2013 of £1.5m. But the Group's cash position as at 30 September 2014 was £2.8m down from the £3,1m on the 30th June 2014.

Unless they have been investing of which we have heard nothing, presumably the difference has gone on wages.

Reduction to the single-serve coffee market in the USA as the main customer (does that mean they have more than one) responded to technical challenges in the market place and ran down stocks ahead of re-launches.

The Board believes that these effects are temporary and that revenue growth will resume in the near future (surprise surprise).

Revenue increases are pointless unless there are investments, its bottom line profits that count, also the last quarter is always more important when it comes to showing progress than previous quarters.

Same same spin.

greekman - 04 Nov 2014 16:48 - 584 of 644

If you look at the following will it be any different from previous with progress being made in development with customer trials ect.

Further progress was made in the development of the pipeline of new bio plastic polymers with technical and customer trials continuing in both the food service and paper-board coating sectors. The business launched a new product in September, formulated to improve both speed and performance in 3D printing applications, whilst retaining impeccable environmental credentials. This is the division's first foray into this emerging sector and initial response from end-use customers is encouraging.

Call me a cynic, but how many times have we heard this from the company 'initial response from end-use customers is encouraging', remember ASDA and the tray lids, bio-degradable cig filters and chewing gum to name but 3 never heard of again products.

Why should investors believe anything will be different this time.

greekman - 28 Nov 2014 07:51 - 585 of 644

I wonder if Biome are going to have a black Friday.

kimoldfield - 28 Nov 2014 08:05 - 586 of 644

Lol!

greekman - 09 Dec 2014 07:11 - 587 of 644

Will Biome be a Santa this Xmas or will it be Scrooge, mind you I bet Mines and Co will be receiving Xmas bonuses.

Shame they are not paid by results, if they were they would be paying money back.
