don't feel like the lone (loan?) ranger ..... there are few really bright spots today anywhere .... DGO was one and a surprising one VOG, but they are pretty thin on the ground

Few indeed cynic, I notice one of your most loved co's finished blue, namely GOO and your second favourite outperformed the market by remaining unchanged. As for PET it's a waiting game, and the longer the wait for news the more loose holders depart.

Does it matter if they depart as long as the news is positive.

halifax-----I suppose the answer is yes and no, and very dependant on how positive or otherwise the news is, yes in as much that the sp will be starting from a lower point than it would had they not departed, and no because IF the news is very positive then the sp rise would make that fall insignificant. All imo of course.

As someone who generally tries to make an effort into the spelling and grammar of my posts I find it rather churlish of you to find fault, may I suggest you concentrate on your own short comings, there is no such word as whingEing (VOG thread) it is whinging.

you may well be right, for i confess neither spelling looked right to me .... however, i readily confess to being slightly pedantic about things like independent and independant, getting off (not off of) a bus and even more so about different from ..... one really cannot be different to!
have now checked out via internet, and both whinging and whingeing are apparently accepted as correct ..... whether or not these are national perferences - e.g. australian or english or amercan - i cannot tell

Shouldn't that be Australian, English or American???????????
And stop whingeing or whinging :)

Wall Street falls on Iran worries
AFX
NEW YORK (AP) - Wall Street pulled back Monday after the Bush administration warned Iran following an incident involving that country's forces and three U.S. Navy ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
Stocks, which had opened higher amid speculation about future interest rate cuts, turned lower after reports of the administration's comments appeared on news services .
U.S. forces were on the verge of firing on the Iranian boats in the early Sunday incident, when the boats ended the incident. The U.S. government 'will confront Iranian behavior' if it threatens the U.S. or its allies, the State Department said Monday.
In midmorning trading, the Dow Jones industrial average fell 47.97, or 0.37 percent, to 12,752.21.
Broader stock indicators also tumbled. The Standard & Poor's 500 index dropped 5.31, or 0.38 percent, to 1,406.32, and the tech-heavy Nasdaq composite index fell 23.04, or 0.92 percent, to 2,481.61.

Markets Bet Heavily That Oil Will Move to $200
The facts about demand for crude staying strong in India, China, and the US are catching up to the market. So are concerns about unstable governments in Africa, the Middle East, and South America.
The percentage of oil staying within oil producing countries to build their own infrastructures is also being factored into prices.
According to Bloomberg "options to buy oil for $200 on the New York Mercantile Exchange rose 10-fold in the past two months to 5,533 contracts, a record increase for any similar period."
These bets are not being made by under-educated retail investors. They are being made by professional traders who see large profits in putting money down that oil hits $200 by year-end.
Macroeconomic trends favor the bet more each day.

cynic we could start a whole thread on the mangled use of the English language--must confess my weak spot is stationary and stationery but I'm getting better! The saying that really gets my hackles up is bored of--which doesn't make any sense at all each time I read or hear it I long to correct it. Also falling pregnant--instead of becoming pregnant. Ah, now I feel better!!

jammyjimmy-----thanks for that, never too old to learn must update my dictionary ha!ha! I'm not whinging either, have held just a few months longer than yourself so we have both had the opportunity to sell around the 150p mark twice, with luck and the all important positive news, the sp will shoot far beyond 150p. Good luck all.
