Iraqi Cleric Suspends Feared Militia
Updated: 14:52, Wednesday August 29, 2007

Shi'ite cleric Muqtada al Sadr has ordered a six-month suspension of activities by his Mehdi Army militia in order to reorganise the force, an aide has said.

Members of the Mehdi Army militiaSpeaking on Iraqi state TV, Sheik Hazim al Araji said the goal was to "rehabilitate" the organisation.

Hi lex1000
james 1 - 29 Aug 2007 14:07 - 56

Posting to you beats talking to myself majority of the time.Little interest in PET on MoneyAM.Surprises me.

Long as it stops you making rash calcs about the sp carry on.
I remember in the year 04 when Pet was no1 thread on here some guy called Tokyo was the resident Guru then PET was always top of the thread day & night.
Where are they now ?

lex1000 - 29 Aug 2007 16:38 - 65 of 1154

james 1 , very active thread on advfn. Overflowing with professional investors who know what they are talking about.Posting here to spread the word which may help a few share in making money.

Here's a hint take a look at charts for IEC & CNE.

My research tells me that if anything near what was discussed and disclosed at recent AGM pick a number between 10 and up to 100.In my view PET will at least match CNE 20+. Potential billions barrels of oil in it for PET, far in excess of CNE.

Share price 2-5 is for starters. You have to be in it to win holding long term to make big $bucks.aimvho.dyor.

2517GEORGE - 29 Aug 2007 17:13 - 66 of 1154

Lex1000------I see you anticipate holding for 2-5 years, do you have a view on post 26 of 65 by Pinnacles ref the possibility of a Russian, Chinese & Iranian conglomerate forming their own non dollar oil market. Pinnacle has put a time on this happening sometime after the Olympic games next august. PS your posts make encouraging reading, had these for well over 3 years now and will continue for a while yet. Watcher----- you must be ultra bullish to have 2 whole shares ha! ha! methinks you may be missing off some noughts.

David Horgan said 2007 is the year of the Pet and he is not wrong. Who would have thought it a couple of weeks ago, here we are sitting just a tad under 150 and its only Wednesday? Forget all the rubbish you hear about PE ratios and all the other mumbo jumbo, this share is controlled by the first law of economics: supply and demand. Who in their right mind is going to sell this short when the HCL is getting closer every day. Every day we are getting closer to the Big One: 16 billion barrels of the black stuff. Yes sirree, you heard me right: 16 BILLION Barrels and the economists and analysts are talking about $100 per barrel by the end of this year. Mind you, they were also talking about $30 per barrel not so long ago! That just shows you how much they know doesn't it. Lol

How many cars are the Chinese and Indians going to put on the road as they charge at full speed towards Americanisation and how much oil will they need to keep them on the road?

Oil does not grow on trees! Lol

Thanks for drawing my attention to post.Short answer is nothing would surprise.I have read something talking about PET wanting to list in Dubai. To qualify PET need higher market cap than todays i.e despite rises.Forget exact qualifying m/c. Conclusion PETs share price expected to go much higher! Please do not take my word for it,DYOR.

Gervaise Williams, who runs Gartmore's UK and Irish small companies fund, says the key test now is whether the administration that emerges recognises Petrel's claims.

Gartmore owns 8 per cent of Petrel. It and Scottish Value Managers are the largest institutional holders.

Mr Williams says: "It was important that they managed to secure a licence in the western desert. Under civil law, I think that would be enforceable. There will probably be much more competition in the Basra area."

Douglas Wright, a private investor who owns 2 per cent of Petrel, estimates the company could be worth 10 a share if it gets the go-ahead on the Basra fields.

However, Barrie Newton, of Rowan Dartington, Petrel's broker, is more cautious. "There are so many question marks. This is a very small company with virtually no assets. It has very good contacts in Iraq but there has been a major political change. We just don't know what the attitude of the new administration is going to be. It's foolish to speculate."

Analysis for PET

Hi COJONES,

PET - 134.00p .. PET is an exceptional stock .. cos I reckon that everyone that has the slightest interest in the 'stock market', is going to be fully aware of its story.

Everyone knows, that with the right news, PET has the potential to 'take-off like a rocket', and I have seen numerous posts predicting rises of anywhere between 5 - 100 (I haven't seen 1000 per share predicted yet, but I'm sure that it won't be long .. LOL)

It is 'high volume' that creates strong moves, and it only needs the 'hint of good news', for everyone to 'dive straight in' for fear of 'missing the boat'.

As a result, PET has the potential to virtually double in a couple of days .. if not in a few hours .. as can be seen by the near vertical rises that occurred during 2004/05.

The problem with such sharp rises, is the fact that good profits are made very quickly, and as soon as there is any hesitation in the rising price, investors look to 'lock in those profits', and the subsequent 'sell-off', can often see the price 'plummet' just as quickly, so you need to be aware of this.

I also reckon that PET must be viewed as a 'gamble', using money that you are prepared to lose .. because although the conscensus of opinion seems to be that a 'deal' will be forthcoming, and its just a matter of time .. there are no guarantees, and if the 'deal' should fall through for any reason, then the price would immediately collapse.

Anyway, I am 'rabitting' .. you asked about the charts, so let's see what they have to say ..

As a 'chart fanatic', as far as I am concerned, the charts are a very useful tool .. even with a stock such as PET which is so obviously news driven .. and I am sure that mosts 'chartists' will agree .. those who say that charts are irrelevant, are most likely 'non-chartists'.

The first chart below, is a WEEKLY movement chart, covering an 18 mth period, and it shows the tight 'price ranges that have been in place throughout.

Obviously by using charts to identify these 'ranges', any price movement outside of the 'range', provides a clear visual signal that the price is getting ready to make its move, and it also provides an indication of the direction of that move.

If the breakout is accompanied by 'above average volume', and results in a 'close' outside of the range .. then this often provides confirmation of the breakout, and the signal that there is more to follow.

Zooming into this years DAILY movement chart, the recent upward movement 'signals' are clearly there to see .. although having said that, they are easy to see when looking back with hindsight .. but the signals are not always so easy to read as they occur ..

.. It started with the strong move from the floor of the 'range' during July, accompanied by 'above average' volume.

.. The price held those gains and consolidated for a week, before making another strong range breakout move .. typical of a confirmed breakout

.. The 100.00p 'psychological' level, was an obvious resistance level, and a good time to 'lock-in' some profits.

.. the subsequent 'back-testing' of the support of its previous range ceiling, is a common occurence, before continuing on upwards .. and the bounce that occurred from the 'support' level, was another good signal.

.. the strong rise straight up through the 100.00p level, with increasing volume, was yet another 'positive' signal, suggesting more upside to follow.

So what next?

Strong moves, and high volume, is also a good indication of growing 'market' interest, and anticipation of good news .. as long as the 'high volume' continues, the price will continue upwards .. as the volume drops, so will the price.

In the short term, 150.00p is another 'psychological' resistance level, and may result in some profit taking, and retracement .. if so, to the downside, look for support at 125.00p.

If the price should close below 125.00p, then look for 'support' and a possible 'bounce' around 112.50p.

To the upside, watch for a sharp move up through 150.00p, accompanied by 'high volume', and a 'close' above .. this would suggest to me that 175.00p is its next target, with the 162.50p 'mid price' level also having an influence upon the price movement.

Overall, it is an exciting stock to follow, with huge upside potential .. both in the short term, and the long term .. but just be wary of the 'downside' risks .. as usual, just a few of my thoughts & observations.

Cynic,

Let's see how PET trades.

10k bought @ 87.6p this morning total 8,860.10 gross - your fantasy portfolio.

At close @ 94p worth 9,387.50 net. profit = 527.40 net.+5.95% profit in one day.

p.s if day trading profit possible @ 97p bid = 827.40 net.+9.33% profit in one day.

In my humble opinion PET long term hold for highest gains - that "feeling grows & grows...."

My posts pre-open today one could say have been proven "timely." For an alternative contrarian view see post below-you did bring MPH into it.LOL ;o)

Hi DCD.....I think the MM's are happy to move the SP North as there are a lot of buyers about at all levels.

The SP is of no concern to them, they make their money on the Spread & the massive (for PET) Volume has been a bonus for us all.

We can see by the online limits that the MMs want stock & us PIs often have to pay a premium if we want any quantity.

Many congratulations on your profit.

Still quite a way to go SP wise I feel.

LOL!

That gentleman was never positive about PET's prospects (complete f**king arrogant ar**hole), even though responsible for PET as their broker. Rowan Dartington were taken over where he was the boss. He was demoted to a small office in Bath. I hope he falls down the plug-hole.

Here are a few of my thoughts, hope that they are of help/interest.

Back towards the end of July 2007 PET had a mid price of 59p & it looked as though the Iraqi Parliament were about to disband for a one month recess.

Things did not look great for PET's SP in the short term.

Then out of the blue a German Tipster mag put a 14e (9.48p) SP target on PET & we were off.

This was followed by a very bullish AGM statement a few days ago from PET. Combined with a London repeat.

A number of PET BB contributors attended & gave excellent reports back.

These last few days reports from Iraq sugges that the HCL is very likely to pass in the near future (anything from 1-6 weeks). Sooner is IMO more likely.

-------------

So thats he past....What about the future.....

Well I see the HCL passing in September 2007, when is fairly irrelevant...

I expect the SP to rise as PIs feel the event is getting closer.

When the HCL passes (lets assume it does)....I'd expect there to be a dramatic rush for PET shares as rumours & facts suggest that PET is about to win (a) contract(s).

Block 6 & an upgrade on S&L are expected.

If this transpires I expect the SP to rise further.....

Then there is HALFAYA.....!!!!!

We are not sure about this one are we. It will be stunning if we get it.

Telephone numbers SP wise Mr Teeling said......maybe as a joke, maybe not, the telephone numbers that is.

I feel the PET management think they are in with a very good chance of getting it.....& it is on the Website....

So fingers crossed on that one.

-------------

I don't like putting any SP figures on it but I intend to keep all my PET holdings till our Halfaya fate is known one way or another & then review.

Hi Elmfield....I think long term growth it is for me for my bought & paid for.

A lot of my PET was purchased between 60p & 95p...

If I were to sell this year I'd lose 40% of my profit which is xxx,xxx-xxp to the taxman.

I know CGT is a bad reason not to sell normally but in PETs case there are bonuses for a longer hold.

Hatto - 29 Aug'07 - 23:39 - 95883 of 95891

Someone mentioned earlier that they thought that the PET BB contributors held 8 million PET shares.

Personally I feel that figure is around 20 million, if lurkers are included.

PET has only 69 million shares in issue, if there is a rush for PET shares then the SP rise will be very dramatic.
