Marchpole - Nice New Clothes (MPH)

Socrates - 30 May 2003 18:58

Marchpole is one of those stocks which have had a really bad time. Boardroom battles, losses, price collapse, profit warnings up the ying yang.

Now all of those things seem to be sorted out, new management are getting to grips, new contracts and the price is on the up. So much so that Monday ought to see a 50/200 day MA golden cross.

DYOR of course, but I think I will be putting a few of these away at the open.

tesco ..... 20p is starting to look more likely than 200p! ...... to be less frivolous, i don't think MPH will go belly up, but it's certainly in the wrong sector and, as i have said before, fails to look after its key staff ..... i guess one might ask whether MM has the wherewithal to take the company back private, as i think was mooted some time ago, or if there is of sufficient substance to the company to make it a target for someone (at the right price!)

cynic - 29 Nov 2007 14:23 - 669 of 715

now feel really ill .......

Whilst not wishing to rub salt into Tesco's wounds, a very good call Richard - dead impressed :)

cynic - 29 Nov 2007 14:38 - 671 of 715

i think it was quite an easy call ...... high street has been in a dire state for many months and when you link that with known bad management and a certain lack of transparency in the figures with regard to future trading followed by a downgrade at the next set, there is only so long that the city will be patient

tesco888 - 30 Nov 2007 15:48 - 672 of 715

cynic looks like you have called it right, well done and I had it wrong, good job that I refused the bet. Ps sold all holdings in mph and will just keep an eye on proceedings........regards...tesco

cynic - 30 Nov 2007 17:14 - 673 of 715

sorry if you lost a bundle Mr T, but we all make wrong calls and just have to hope that the good ones outweigh ...... guess i lacked the balls to short here though

tesco888 - 03 Dec 2007 08:56 - 674 of 715

cynic bought from 75p upwards but lost 20% of capital and wasted years following that man morris, who as you stated many times is not to be trusted. Out now and moving on, have you anything worth investing in to recoup my losses and .....................lol, ........tesco

cynic - 03 Dec 2007 09:33 - 675 of 715

depends on what sector you fancy and whether you want to buy quality or blue sky

tesco888 - 03 Dec 2007 15:36 - 676 of 715

thinking of oil rather than retail and blue sky...................................tesco

cynic - 03 Dec 2007 15:38 - 677 of 715

PMO or IEC or PFC

tesco888 - 03 Dec 2007 16:43 - 678 of 715

thanks ill take a look, have a good christmas and new year..............tesco

MR T .... promoise not having a dig, but you might care to look at the MPH web site and sits vac .... you will find MPH is still looking for a menswear knitwear specialist designer, 3-4 months after the last one left ..... it is a somewhat and unusual and specialised field, underlining MPH's appalling man-management skills whereby they carelessly lose key staff by failing to look after them properly .... all basic stuff!

cynic - 01 Feb 2008 17:12 - 680 of 715

oh dear oh dear oh dear ..... the chickens have come home to roost ..... MPH now admits that it will be showing a LOSS with it's FY figures

required field - 01 Feb 2008 18:41 - 681 of 715

Blimey cynic, this used to be a stockmarket darling along with Vanco, (used to own shares in both), both gone down the sinkhole... the ever changing world of the stockmarket... unthinkable a few years ago !

cynic - 01 Feb 2008 19:18 - 682 of 715

read back and you will see what i think of the management ..... MM has reaped what he has sown .... little to no sympathy for him

Marchpole Shareholders Action Group
c/o Marben

email: mphagrp@live.co.uk

Investigating the possibility abuse of market procedure by the company directors and possible redress. Real names etc not required at this stage, just expression of interest and some idea of losses.

cynic - 09 Feb 2008 13:19 - 684 of 715

shareholders' brains or lack of them need investigating

Thank you for your contribution, tosser.

Do you have to work hard at it or does it, as seems to be the case, come naturally?

BTW, the judgement of someone who uses AOL as an ISP has to be seriously questioned. It is generally the refuge of those too incompetent to tie their own shoelaces.

your Neanderthal behaviour and rantings highlight your own shortcomings.
i have been posting for many months as to why i considered in inevitable that MPH would come to a sticky end, and so it has proved.
you chose to ignore that, as is your prerogative but de facto you have only yourself to blame for your losses.
try taking it like man, or at least one step up the evolutionary ladder, as a Cro-Magnon
my only surprise is that MPH's demise has happened so quickly.
my only regret is a lack of balls to short the stock.

"Biography:

an opinionated pain who neverthless refuses to take himself too seriously and rarely gets upset by acid retort from those whose feathers he has ruffled."

Failed that little test of your own too then.

Perhaps rather than hiding around the backstreets of moneyam, you might want to visit one of its competitors where you might find a few more informed views. I am not a holder and have not been for several months, the action group info was cross posted here as a courtesy.

The (I'll see your neanderthal and raise you a) childish response hardly added to any discussion here. Perhaps you are related to Morris, he said shareholders were "out of their brains" for selling (see FT)!

I think you may need a few counselling sessions to get over yourself.
