i wouldn't touch any iraqi E&P company ...... the chances of anything useful happening there in the next 12+ months is slim in tghe extreme, and who says PET will even get a meaningful or even any slice - other than the rampers (unkind) that is

The sp may well be telling us that perhaps they are about to get a slice of the action. No doubt at some point (soon) all will be revealed.

Bought these when first started investing, nearly panicked and dumped when self19 and hlyeo predicted doom & gloom want to thank those on this board who pointed out their ramping. Am still loosing but at least not as much now. Not predicting wonderous things for this share - don't even have fingers crossed anymore, just trying to point out how easily it is to be sucked in by people who post for their own adgenda.

I am back in profit having bought for memory around 6years ago @ 42p, had several opportunities to sell between 1 - 1.50 but didn't (put it down to greed), it's PET's financial year end tomorrow.

I heard a whisper from that well known stock ramper known as BLT, aka Dougie Wright that Petrel were in advanced talks with a Major oil company (BP?) that would qualify them to bid for a giant oil field when the next bidding round is finalised.

and why wouldn't BP just do that themselves?

gentlemen you are missing the point, at present PET are the only contractor actually working in the south and the majors have said that it is still too dangerous to put their own staff in on the ground, so wouldn't it be better for them to do a JV with the only western company that is already there?

from a chart point of view, it's good to see sp charging through all the dma resistances, so assuming the current level can be held, technically the next hurdle is 55p.

however, the prob with PET as i see it is the horrid location, aka Iraq ..... i actually think Iran is a safer place to be viewing for biz etc

iraq is at its safest level since the war.
and recent newspaper headlines has it that basra is safer than being in manchester for vandalism and violence.....mind u, manchester is a craphole

don't hear of any companies sending their european personnel over there to open up leads etc, and don't think you will for a very long time yet!

europe is a basket case......even obama is not interested in europe and esp uk

stop thinking europe is important.....these days are over, the world has moved on.

these other companies as u mention know nothing of iraq and choose not to do any research let alone anything else......they are ignorant typical westerners
