The ITN RNS confirms blnx is the best in the market and is growing fast:-

Leading News Organization ITN Extends Advertising Deal with blinkx Based on Proven Campaign Success

blinkx Selected to Power Advertising across ITN Website and Syndication Partner Sites

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIF. - July 2, 2008 - blinkx, the world's largest and most advanced video search engine, today announced that it has won an extension contract that will augment the scope of its advertising partnership with ITN, one of the world's leading news and multimedia content companies. Under the terms of the new agreement, ITN will use AdHoc, blinkx's patented contextual advertising platform for online TV and video, to serve advertisements on the ITN website and its syndication partner sites, including Bebo.

Through AdHoc, ITN has already been effectively monetizing its premium news content on the blinkx.com network for over six months. During this time, ITN achieved a significantly better return, greater search volume, and higher monetization through blinkx than through other syndication partners.

AdHoc uses blinkx's patented speech-to-text transcription and visual analysis technology to understand video content more thoroughly and effectively than any other service today, and can therefore dynamically place the most pertinent advertising against it. The AdHoc platform offers media companies and advertisers a unique value proposition -- video advertising which combines the emotive power of TV promotion, with the relevance and utility of contextual search advertising.

The confluence of ITN's premium TV content, blinkx's extensive syndication network, and AdHoc's uniquely powerful targeting capabilities was a formula for success. By extending its partnership with blinkx, ITN aims to achieve similar returns by leveraging the AdHoc platform to deliver contextually relevant video advertising on its own website and across its distribution partner sites.

'We're thrilled to be broadening our relationship with ITN,' said Suranga Chandratillake, founder and CEO of blinkx. 'News content is one of the most popular categories of online video and there's clearly a tremendous opportunity for monetization. The success of our partnership with ITN is evidence that the blinkx AdHoc platform is a uniquely powerful solution for online video advertising today.'

'We've been delighted with the results of our partnership with blinkx and are looking forward to implementing the AdHoc technology on our site,' said Nicholas Wheeler, managing director, ITN On. 'blinkx AdHoc has proven that it can achieve significant monetization of our content, effective marketing for advertisers and, most importantly, a useful, non-disruptive experience for our audience.'

As a pioneer in video search technology, blinkx has built a reputation as the most effective way to search new forms of online content such as video. With more than 350 partners and 26 million hours of indexed video and audio content, including favorite TV moments, news clips, short documentaries, music videos, video blogs and more, blinkx uses advanced speech recognition technology to deliver results that are more accurate and reliable than standard metadata-based keyword searches.

I like to be an optimist. That is why the prospect of trying to sell a company down the river is a philosophy that I could never embrace. In my view it is just not right.
I would put them in the same category as estate agents.

Estate Agent joke
You are in a lift In there with you are your worst enemy in the world,Saddaam Hussein and an estate agent. You have a gun,but only 2 bullets. What do you do???
ANSWER Shoot the estate agent twice!!

cynic - 07 Dec 2010 12:25 - 3383 of 6187

shorting is a perfectly legitimate tool for making money, which is what we are all here for ..... to say that shorting is "selling the company down the river" is a load of rubbish and indeed, there (usually) has to be a counter-party who will lend the stock for that transaction to take place even with s/b or CFDs

chessplayer - 07 Dec 2010 12:45 - 3384 of 6187

So I have heard However,it is not a strategy that appeals to me.I am sure that the majority feel this way.Like it or not

tabasco - 07 Dec 2010 12:52 - 3385 of 6187

The City regulator has announced a ban on short-selling - in which traders bet on share prices falling - in a bid to tackle market instability" If it is necessarywhy ban it"The FSA's clampdown applies only to 29 leading financial stocks, and not to shares in all listed firms.

You see Cynicwe can all run 100 metres in 20 secsUsain Bolt run it in 9.69 secondsit is far easy to be a loser than a winner
Betfair have only ever had trouble on the selling sideagain it is far easier to make something losethan it is to make something winand far easier to fix

cynic - 07 Dec 2010 12:59 - 3386 of 6187

whether or not it appeals to you or not, is irrelevant ..... i rarely short stocks, but primarily because i lack the balls so to do

chessplayer - 07 Dec 2010 13:00 - 3387 of 6187

Also,it is certainly not without reason that Germany have been seeking to curtail the practice.

tabasco - 07 Dec 2010 13:07 - 3388 of 6187

The FSA know how corrupt short selling can bebut it is a money makerlike all British lawit is designed to work for the chosen few!but the World nearly tumbledand the subsequent VW sting made the mafia take noteshort selling is not a fixed item!

cynic - 07 Dec 2010 13:13 - 3389 of 6187

stock markets are a casino by any other name and there's no point in getting all precious about it and pretending that investing/trading is some altruistic exercise to help oil the wheels of industry ..... it's solely a way to try to make money, and if shorting or other derivatives are a legit way of doing so, then that's fine by me

is avoiding tax legitimate?
of course it is
is it immoral to do so?
some would say so, but usually only those who are jealous of those who can and do so

tabasco - 07 Dec 2010 13:26 - 3390 of 6187

Cynicsomebody has to make a standPhilip Green flies to work by private jet to avoid paying taxwe all know itthe government knows itPhilip Green the multiple billionaire knows itthe law will penalise you or me for a few quidbut that fat bastard gets away with ityou might want to turn a blind eyeI would like to shoot his jet down!!!

Cynicplease dont say I am jealousI have everything I want and a whole lot moreeven if you took all my dough away!
And I cant buy my Mother back!

cynic - 07 Dec 2010 14:03 - 3392 of 6187

would you like my mother as a surrogate?

the rules on non-doms or ex-pat residents are actually pretty strict, but if someone can use the rules to avoid to paying tax, then that's fine by me ..... i know i'ld do the same and you probably do so at the moment, perhaps using tax-efficient pension schemes or similar

now if you want to get me onto the crooked systems in EU Parliament, that is a different matter, as the guys on that solid gold bonanza are controlled by and are answerable to no one except themselves

tabasco - 07 Dec 2010 14:11 - 3393 of 6187

You only get one Mother matecherish her!

Cynicsurprising as it might seemI would not do the same as that fat bastard I am straight!and my wife is even straighter!

cynic - 07 Dec 2010 14:17 - 3394 of 6187

it's not a case of being or not being straight ..... as is always said, to avoid tax is legal; to evade tax is not

anyway, if you don't stop being nasty i'll accuse you of being anti-semitic lol!

tabasco - 07 Dec 2010 14:24 - 3395 of 6187

Im losing street cred by the minuteI really am Mr. Nastyggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...Like a pussycat

tabasco - 07 Dec 2010 14:27 - 3396 of 6187

And just as an interesthow do you define morality?

Fred1new - 07 Dec 2010 14:33 - 3397 of 6187

Something stinks, when you are not prepared to pay the taxes of the country in which you make the money in, and also spend a large proportion of your life in.

But it is difficult to see where and what level you draw the lines.

But, I think in regards to NEXT it does appear to be looting the country of money on a business and exporting it to another.

Ummmmmm.

tabasco - 07 Dec 2010 14:38 - 3398 of 6187

Fredwe nearly always agree in some way or anotherthe reason?we talk from the heartnot a script!

tabasco - 07 Dec 2010 15:07 - 3399 of 6187

Incidentallythe Fat Bastard was recruited by David Cameron as a government spending adviserlolhis business empirethe Arcadia group is mostly owned in the name of his wife Tinawho works tirelessly from the poolside at her Monaco home.. and does break sweat when the sun passes over her parasol!I do believe that scenario needs a morality check?

cynic - 07 Dec 2010 15:23 - 3400 of 6187

by the way, i would not recommend buying Next shares ..... bad company to work for

morality
an interesting philosophical point for discussion, not least because morals are set by society and change with time
