Still Waiting - 25 Jul 2008 23:22

Chart.aspx?Provider=EODIntra&Code=BLNX&S

With video search set to be the next big growth area BLNX have the software the likes of Microsoft, Google and NewsCorp would love to have.

In fact BLNX have done deals with most of these, the most recent being the UtargetFox deal which has been reported in the USA but not RNS'd in the UK.

Alexa rankings confirm the continued growth in usage as its viral effect spreads:-

The ITN RNS confirms blnx is the best in the market and is growing fast:-

Leading News Organization ITN Extends Advertising Deal with blinkx Based on Proven Campaign Success

blinkx Selected to Power Advertising across ITN Website and Syndication Partner Sites

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIF. - July 2, 2008 - blinkx, the world's largest and most advanced video search engine, today announced that it has won an extension contract that will augment the scope of its advertising partnership with ITN, one of the world's leading news and multimedia content companies. Under the terms of the new agreement, ITN will use AdHoc, blinkx's patented contextual advertising platform for online TV and video, to serve advertisements on the ITN website and its syndication partner sites, including Bebo.

Through AdHoc, ITN has already been effectively monetizing its premium news content on the blinkx.com network for over six months. During this time, ITN achieved a significantly better return, greater search volume, and higher monetization through blinkx than through other syndication partners.

AdHoc uses blinkx's patented speech-to-text transcription and visual analysis technology to understand video content more thoroughly and effectively than any other service today, and can therefore dynamically place the most pertinent advertising against it. The AdHoc platform offers media companies and advertisers a unique value proposition -- video advertising which combines the emotive power of TV promotion, with the relevance and utility of contextual search advertising.

The confluence of ITN's premium TV content, blinkx's extensive syndication network, and AdHoc's uniquely powerful targeting capabilities was a formula for success. By extending its partnership with blinkx, ITN aims to achieve similar returns by leveraging the AdHoc platform to deliver contextually relevant video advertising on its own website and across its distribution partner sites.

'We're thrilled to be broadening our relationship with ITN,' said Suranga Chandratillake, founder and CEO of blinkx. 'News content is one of the most popular categories of online video and there's clearly a tremendous opportunity for monetization. The success of our partnership with ITN is evidence that the blinkx AdHoc platform is a uniquely powerful solution for online video advertising today.'

'We've been delighted with the results of our partnership with blinkx and are looking forward to implementing the AdHoc technology on our site,' said Nicholas Wheeler, managing director, ITN On. 'blinkx AdHoc has proven that it can achieve significant monetization of our content, effective marketing for advertisers and, most importantly, a useful, non-disruptive experience for our audience.'

As a pioneer in video search technology, blinkx has built a reputation as the most effective way to search new forms of online content such as video. With more than 350 partners and 26 million hours of indexed video and audio content, including favorite TV moments, news clips, short documentaries, music videos, video blogs and more, blinkx uses advanced speech recognition technology to deliver results that are more accurate and reliable than standard metadata-based keyword searches.

What do you expect! Cynic has a name to live up to.

cynic - 08 Dec 2010 09:49 - 3425 of 6187

true, but then so was my comment!

tabasco - 08 Dec 2010 12:15 - 3426 of 6187

Hilaryare you still of the opinion that blnx are... a pile of crap.just heard a hunch of a bit of buying on the way?please make note of the timeand your shortoff out later toddle pip!

Gausie - 08 Dec 2010 12:21 - 3427 of 6187

Tabby - will that be the much awaited bear squeeze that you heard/dreamt was imminent a week or so ago? Or is this one from a different fantasy?

tabasco - 08 Dec 2010 12:31 - 3428 of 6187

In your Worldwho knows?.but I dont fancy your or the wifes short!

tabasco - 08 Dec 2010 12:33 - 3429 of 6187

Do yourself a bit of goodlisten to Chess

hilary - 08 Dec 2010 12:44 - 3430 of 6187

Well I hope your buyer hurries up and gets his fill, Tabster, because all the interest looks to have gone out of this pile of crap. It'll be nice to get a resumption of normal service once he's out of the way.

cynic - 08 Dec 2010 12:58 - 3431 of 6187

i wonder who will be laughing in say 12 months time ...... imo, DES makes a much more obvious and logical choice to short

hilary - 08 Dec 2010 13:24 - 3432 of 6187

Anything that is fundamentally overvalued and in a clear downtrend tends to be a good short, Cyners. Likewise there is no shortage of stocks out there which are in a clearly identifiable uptrend and are good buys.

There is no clear chart pattern in play for DES (at least not one that I can identify) and there will never be a shortage of investors chasing that elusive crock of black gold at the end of a rainbow. That's not to say that the price won't fall from here, but it's very susceptible to rumour and too difficult a trade to manage without greater directional clarity.

If you subscribe to the PPV, I suggest you look on the Liquid Shorts thread.

Gausie - 08 Dec 2010 13:27 - 3433 of 6187

There's no volume in BLNX right now. I wonder if Tabby's buyer is going to start showing himself around 30p?

cynic - 08 Dec 2010 13:41 - 3434 of 6187

hilary - on technicals, you may well be right to short BLNX, but it is not one i would personally choose ..... CNT was an obvious and logically candidate, and so it proved to be ..... SCHE nearly falls into that category too ..... i happen to think that DES is a dead duck even though i have not married money to mouth

Gausie - 08 Dec 2010 13:56 - 3435 of 6187

Cynic

DES looks way too gappy to trade in either direction. Any trade would have to be pure gamble with no proper plan or strategy.

Not for me.

Just a glance at the BLNX chart at the head of this thread and you can hear it shouting "Short me! Short me - I'm going down"

cynic - 08 Dec 2010 14:06 - 3436 of 6187

i fully understand your rationale, but markets often do not necessarily follow that ..... i'ld guess that dow and ftse indicators are both pointing north at the moment too, especially if the customary december surge is to happen ..... however, i am not inclined to climb on board that band wagon either

tabasco - 09 Dec 2010 11:23 - 3437 of 6187

GausieHilary. how you doing?lolthat was a bit of luck again

BtwI had a great nightdid you?

Gausie - 09 Dec 2010 11:37 - 3438 of 6187

Hey Tabby - did you drop in on the MAM drinks & meal last night?

chessplayer - 09 Dec 2010 11:58 - 3439 of 6187

The recent spate of cold weather in the UK has been very positive for usage on the internet.A few days ago,I read that online sales amounted to 832,000. per minute. This is an increase of some 21% on the same time last year.It helps you to realize where the future lies.

Isaacs - 09 Dec 2010 13:01 - 3440 of 6187

So back to the point where the heavy shorting was meant to begin? Maybe later.
