Rockhopper was established in 2004 with a strategy to invest in and undertake an offshore oil exploration programme in the North Falkland Basin. It was floated on AIM in August 2005. Rockhopper was the first company to make a commercial oil discovery in the Falklands. Today Rockhopper is the largest acreage holder in the North Falkland Basin, with interests in the Greater Mediterranean region.

Stick with it - I'm not baling out. Reckon the sp has a long way to go yet but don't expect it all to happen overnight

Fox Davies note

Rockhopper Exploration (LON:RKH, 274.5p, ▲ 2.91%) provided an update on the flow test carried out at well 14/10-5: Well flowed at commercially viable rates; Well flowed at stabilised rates of 5508 stb/d; and the well achieved a maximum stabilised flow rate of 9036 stb/d. A total section of 86m, incorporating 79m of reservoir, was perforated between 2379m and 2465m (md) over the Sea Lion Main Fan Complex. No lower fan sands were perforated on this flow test. The well flowed for a main 48 hour flow period at a stabilised rate of 5508 stb/d and 940 mscf/d of gas with a flowing well head pressure (WHP) of 783 psi on a 48/64 inch choke. It was not necessary to use any wax inhibitors or pour point suppressants and no water or H2S were produced d uring the test. Downhole mini DSTs (Drill Stem Test) were also performed on two of the three sands making up the 14m of net pay encountered in the well, which form part of the lower fan. These 2 sands had net pay of 8m and 4.5m. Interpretation of the results of the mini DST indicate that these 2 sands could have contributed an additional 800 stb/d flow rate using the same flow test techniques (artificial lift by ESP and thermal insulation by VIT) as used during the main DST performed on the upper fan in well 14/10-5. The Ocean Guardian drilling unit will now drill well 14/10-6, which will be the third appraisal well within the Sea Lion discovery area. 14/10-6 is located some 4.5km to the west of well 14/10-5 and is located within the Company's currently mapped mid-case area.

Apologies for always being negative about the market but it does fit in with the idea that in this bear market, good news will have little effect on the sp but bad news will hammer the sp (WLF).

It's about prices being pushed to their lowest common denominator. Of course 6 mnths/1 yr ago then the sp would probably have risen 20+%

cynic - 27 Jun 2011 08:37 - 4804 of 6294

marky - does the above therefore caste some doubt on the published result? .... certainly reads that way

required field - 27 Jun 2011 08:38 - 4805 of 6294

You know what would send the sp up more : would be for them to spud a well in mid-atlantic.....just about anywhere....plus 6p now ....you have to be joking...

greekman - 27 Jun 2011 08:55 - 4806 of 6294

RF,

Just what I was thinking.

Who knows, but if they keep drilling further and further from the initial drill and continue to discover oil linked to that initial drill, I wonder just how big this field is.
If it gets much bigger it could incorporate all the other fields for miles around.

Best (dream) sinario.............field extends up to the shoreline of the capital of the Falkland Islands themselves.

As I said, 'We can but dream'!

markymar - 27 Jun 2011 08:55 - 4807 of 6294

News is above all expectations Cynic am at a loss with the SP more news to follow with CPR report also new 3D seismic.

What we are wanting as a punters is how many barrels are down there is the big question.

Who is the seller?

gildph - 27 Jun 2011 13:35 - 4808 of 6294

omg wat wud happen if flow test produced only 3000? I CAN'T BELIEVE THE MKT REACTION TO THE RNS...

greekman - 27 Jun 2011 16:57 - 4809 of 6294

Been slowly getting out of the market recently mainly due to the way I see the market going (not sold any RKH shares though).
But sometimes if you see what looks like a bargain, IE Rockhopper shares now 40% cheaper than when the first Sealion drill results first came in you just have to buy.
In the ten years that I have been a serious investor, I have never seen a share price go so contradictory against the flow (pun intended) of evidence.
To say I am gob smacked at todays current sp, is an understatement in the extreme.

required field - 27 Jun 2011 18:47 - 4810 of 6294

5000 and 9000 b/per day and it is priced down on the day.....difficult to believe; to me it only shows that the market is lacking cash flow....it is unbelievable on such an outstanding result !.

dreamcatcher - 27 Jun 2011 19:32 - 4811 of 6294

The market is getting very fearful. Perhaps with xel still on their minds. Money moves on to the next stock waiting news. Just hope future rns's by any company being of
this quality are absorbed by the market and give rewards to the sp that is deserves.
Otherwise at the end of the day whats the point in investing. The sp soon falls but seems more and more difficult to climb. Just my opinion.

greekman - 27 Jun 2011 19:38 - 4812 of 6294

Also looking at the massive number of ATs compared to the average per trading it looks like many stop losses were triggered, which did not help.
I appreciate that the Greek euro crisis and the usual noise coming from the Argies is not helping, but those 2 problems have been simmering for a while.
I just can't believe we are down on the day.
Good job the results weren't even better, the sp might have dropped further.
Latterly the markets are harder to understand than the workings of a womans mind.

dreamcatcher - 27 Jun 2011 20:01 - 4813 of 6294

Investors perhaps have stopped buying into the news and sp rise. I take it for the sp to drop, more shares have been sold then purchased. I hope for all of us this is not the future.

Balerboy - 27 Jun 2011 21:02 - 4814 of 6294

XEL has done just the same....RKH might-might not go any further for months to come, like dangling a carrot of "what might be" getting p***ed off with it all. Going Hay making and take it out on the tractor!!.,.
