Rockhopper was established in 2004 with a strategy to invest in and undertake an offshore oil exploration programme in the North Falkland Basin. It was floated on AIM in August 2005. Rockhopper was the first company to make a commercial oil discovery in the Falklands. Today Rockhopper is the largest acreage holder in the North Falkland Basin, with interests in the Greater Mediterranean region.

Cannot keep up with supply and demand, oil will rise.

Cannot keep up with supply and demand, oil will rise.

Short term ie; next 2 to 3 years, I agree. However how sustainable is it at $115 if and when new tech becomes affordable and mainstream and billion barrel fields are being discovered in areas where current infrastructure to transport exists.

dreamcatcher - 21 Jul 2011 09:31 - 4983 of 6294

We are now in a period of the worlds oil consumption is far out weighing discoveries.

dreamcatcher - 21 Jul 2011 09:33 - 4984 of 6294

I think I am right in saying 3 barrels are being used for every one found.

In which case alternative forms of energy will be found to make up the shortfall.

To be honest, there are claims like the one that you posted and there are others that state we have only just tapped the worlds resources and that 85% is as yet undiscovered.

The only thing I am sure about is that, those who control our energy will extract as much out of us as they can for as long as they can...............

At the moment with RKH we are talking about one prospect only Sea Lion, there acreage is massive with many more prospects in it which in time will yield commercial quantities of oil.

News of 3D seismic to come soon which should open up there acreage even more I am sure there will be a lot of interest from majors in the coming year.

Electric cars..no good for me if I want to travel down to London I would have to stop every 70 mile so it would take me 3 to 4 days.

markymar - 21 Jul 2011 22:42 - 4989 of 6294

Had my wellies on as its been that wet Baler no good for the clogs another thing with electric cars is in the winter time you can loose 50% of the battery charge if its very cold-22 was the coldest.

Nice and warm down my mine though, back to RKH i see we had a bullish candle to finish also its Friday so i expect the sp to rise tomorrow.

Good to see the SP moving in the right direction......clip clop

The book looks strong.

Marky
I would have thought Baler is exactly who you would need if it 's that wet down the mine!

John
Not sure about the switch to electricity - whilst I'm certainly using my PV source to its maximum I'm not sure they have invented the first commercial electric aircraft! So perhaps carbon fuels will be around long enough to allow RKH to profit from its discoveries.

markymar - 22 Jul 2011 15:46 - 4992 of 6294

avsec its not good when its to wet for the pit ponies

Clip Clop back down i go

Nice Pic

I expect fossil to be around for a very long time, my concern is the commerciality of some fields may be diminished if the price retraces too much as a result of alternatives catching on.

Three years ago, a mate of mine sent me a DVD about the new biggie "H2O cars" I looked at it and thought "what a load of crock"

2 weeks ago I watched a docu about a Company in Germany that had a breakthrough in developing a new fuel..............................yep H2O

I would not like to predict where oli will be in 18 months let alone 4 years, but then who would have expected to see gold at 1600 3 years ago?

Personally I hope you all make millions and come and buy some of my Alpine propertys

John
