I originally bought some at 57p, and have added more at 99p.

I am not an expert in the oil/gas area, but common sense suggest that there is a greater chance of finding further gas in nearby areas once a field of gas has been found. VOG have three further areas nearby to drill. Recently, Executive Director William Kelleher said;
'Today Victoria has had a recoverable gas resource of half a trillion cubic feet
independently confirmed at our premier asset, located in Russia. This resource
potential is based on just one discovery well. In 2006 Victoria will proceed
with the drilling of three additional wells at West Medvezhye. Successful tests
of these wells will enable us to reclassify current resource volumes into
reserves and to explore further the resource potential of this significant
project in one of the world's premier regions for gas and gas condensate
production'. This to me sound a good risk at the current price.

Some analysts are valuing VOG between 306p and 500p. I cant see that happening short term. But the prospect for more upside is there. Todays shakeout was more or less expected. Lot of people had bought this share at 45p/50p, there is bound to be some profit taking. After looking at various risk factors, existing discoveries and the potential discoveries, I do however feel 200p/250p is a possibility.

I agree with you kaymarts about the short term target

Mono

kaysmart - 21 Nov 2005 17:15 - 85 of 2511

Hi tallsiii,

The above should have read a fair value of 300 and NAV of 500. For you information, Zac Phillips, an analyst at stockbroker Ambrian is saying a fair value for VOG at 306 and NAV of 501.

ellio - 21 Nov 2005 18:34 - 86 of 2511

He means pence of course!

ateeq180 - 21 Nov 2005 20:01 - 87 of 2511

All predictions turned out to be wrong today, but may be for the right reasons as nothing goes in a straight line, and with some investors sitting on hefty profits must have taken thier profits, also what i have learned with this kind of spike is that we should also have a patience, when some thing comes to a halt,we tend to think thats it and start to be negative, just because we see over profits are going down, and never think at that point about others.who must have bought at much cheaper prices, any way thats the name of the game, and good luck we might have more posts tomorrow as suppose to todays, people tend to react more with blue on the screen rather than red,of course its undrstandable, any way good luck for tomorrow.

Mr Mole - 22 Nov 2005 09:40 - 88 of 2511

Quiet on this thread considering the fall today...anyone have any thoughts on where this is going. Pretty much bought at the top so it looks like I'll be with this one for a while (story of my life!!). Comments welcome.......

cellby - 22 Nov 2005 10:06 - 89 of 2511

we will haVe to wait for flow rate test news should be ok its next to one of the bigest gas fields in the world with gas inplace of half a tril dont think we are up for a ramcoing im down 25% so far been here before with this co x2 and they came good.

Confidant - 22 Nov 2005 10:17 - 90 of 2511

First comment on any thread so here goes. Mr Mole, mate, what are you doing when a stock is up 100%+ in a couple of days, just say you missed it and look for something else

As for VOG look at the price action around AEN when it had a similar announcement Sept 2004. First day up slightly. Second day the big mover. Third day up some more but not as much. Fourth day trades at some point below the close of the second. VOG is now on the 5th day -- AEN traded up to new highs before settling around third day close before going on further a couple of weeks later.

This suggests to me we could see share go back to the mid-120's in the next few weeks

All this comparing with AEN has made me realise that stock seems to be bottoming and with AGM in Dec (I think as it was last year) it could run too

Talking my own book - I expect all my posts will be doing that. Isn't that what this investors room is for ? Or have I misunderstood something ?

ellio - 22 Nov 2005 11:29 - 91 of 2511

Anybody brave enough to pick them up at 90p, wish I had, nearly 25% profit on the day, this has been shaken up big style, still think 200p by end of week

ramu - 22 Nov 2005 11:43 - 92 of 2511

Confidant, very good first post. PET was another share whose SP movement was similar to VOG when news broke out in Oct 2004. However, these two companies are totally different and I feel VOG is less risky.

As the AIM is full of traders, you will see similar movements on mining/energy stocks - meteoritic rise on any positive news, then the SP drifts down and subsequently stabilises.

I think if newsflow is maintained, then it'll be good to be in VOG. However, I am not sure when to get in. Any thoughts? Thanks.

kaysmart - 22 Nov 2005 11:47 - 93 of 2511

I picked some at 92p actually. I am confident that the sp will go up long-term. It does provide a trading opportunity for the brave. Time will tell if I am right.

Confidant - 22 Nov 2005 11:58 - 94 of 2511

200p looks a bit much

on the valuation front 0.5tcf ("recoverable resource") would be worth say $250m in the ground --- in the North Sea. In Russia probably about $80m - 50m

If worth 50m and get close to max upside 2.3tcf say field could be worth 200m to company - slightly conservative

I don't know details of other fields so add say 20m for rest would suggest a market cap fully priced at 220m or about 250p/share. Given the risks and early stage 150p looks around about fair. Say this with no idea of news pipeline just on the Thursday info. I agree a little conservative

ramu - 22 Nov 2005 12:29 - 95 of 2511

Confidant, 150p is conservative but it's better to err on the low side. Personally, I think if the next positive news is within the month, then VOG will go north again. What's your timeframe?

Confidant - 22 Nov 2005 13:34 - 96 of 2511

Assuming no bad news, would expect to trend up as we see today -- the mirror image of AEN it is quite uncanny.

Should see profit or even loss takers on the way to 150p so a 200p scenario by end of week as put forward in one post needs more good news or a broker push. Infact a broker push or investor magazine is likely to be the next impact one way or the other

kaysmart - 22 Nov 2005 14:12 - 97 of 2511

I would agree with your analysis confident!

goldfinger - 24 Nov 2005 12:48 - 98 of 2511

Joined you guys in this one this morning. Evil K going from short to long persuaded me plus 2006 could see further discoveries.

cheers GF.

Confidant - 24 Nov 2005 13:59 - 99 of 2511

Not so sure as that makes me happy. These sort of guys have much bigger wallets than me so don't mind losing every so often as they have more bets out there. Especially when their writing their own pages on the net. Be sure they will be

1 . Talking their own book
2. Trying to hype it as much as possible one way or the other
3. Possibly aware of information, that normals are not privvy to, the sort of info which has a big impact in the short term but little impact on the company longer term

Presumably if this guy was short, he's trying to make up for his losses by going the other way.

cellby - 24 Nov 2005 14:34 - 100 of 2511

i think any share mags will put a damper on this going on about proVen and probable until further tests ,i hope im wrong haVe these at 125 like to see them push to 160.
