SEFTON RESOURCES INC - UNDERRATED OIL PRODUCER (SER)

ptholden - 04 Aug 2006 19:53

???

Sefton Resources is an independent AIM quoted Oil and Gas company operating in the US. The companys principal current assets are two producing oilfields in California (Tapia Canyon Field and Eureka Canyon Field); it is also in the process of buying up prospective coal bed methane acreage (CBM) in Kansas.

Update from July 2007 AGM

Finance

I revealed in my annual statement that discussions were well advanced with
Banking institutions. The final phase of the agreement with a suitable bank
without complex and restrictive terms is now very near. This is weeks away
rather than months.

Oil

Oil production at Tapia has averaged 4,100 BO during the last five months. Which
is in line with last years levels. Once this finance is in place we will be able
to move ahead with drilling.

Drilling

We have stayed close to drilling contractors and we are ready to move forward
quickly when this finance is available.

Steam generation

The equipment is now in place at Tapia. Preparation time is needed to connect
the equipment and carry out the necessary trials required to get the main work
started. We anticipate this steaming will start in the next couple of months. If
successful a significant amount of oil resources will move into the Proven
Producing Reserves category.

Joint Ventures

Discussions continue with a number of interested parties to develop our Anderson
counties gas assets.

New finance team

A new CFO has been appointed with good knowledge and experience of the oil
industry. A new assistant to undertake all the daily needs has also been
appointed.

SWOT ANALYSIS

STRENGTHS:

Sefton has two oil fields, both producing. One is already profitable, and the other is breaking even. This should generate good cashflow for the company over the medium term.
Sefton owns 100% of both its major oil interests and is now demerging its non-controlled oil interests in order to concentrate on those where it has full control (Sefton has recently disposed of its Canadian assets for CDN450k cash).
Sefton is establishing a track record of using modern extraction technologies to improve the efficiency of its fields.

WEAKNESSES:

Sefton has suffered from a number of one-off factors. While these were out of the companys control the problems it has faced since 2002 have held back development and taken up management time. Investor disenchantment may account for the current low rating.

OPPORTUNITIES:

Sefton has acquired acreage for CBM (coal bed methane) in Kansas. CBM gas production is a thriving market and Sefton believes it has acquired the acreage at advantageous prices. While this is a longer term prospect it is an exciting one and could eventually eclipse the oil interests.
There are a number of other fields in the Ventura Basin and more generally in California as a whole that Sefton may look to target now its cash flows are stronger.
Eureka is a semi-exploration play which may contain further upside. This cannot yet be evaluated.
At this valuation the company may prove an attractive target for a larger player.

THREATS

Owing to its geographical location the company continues to be exposed to the threat of bush fires, canyon floods and geological interruption (earthquake risk). Sefton is taking steps to mitigate this risk by investing in Kansas and although Forest Basin area is susceptible to tornados - gas facilities have a minimal surface footprint.

Well if I had 10,200 in my account now I know what I'd do with it - buy 150k SER at 6.8p/share.

Wish I did.

SECRUOSER - 27 Nov 2007 15:58 - 1322 of 2350

Back up it goes - well done buyer(s).

SECRUOSER - 28 Nov 2007 11:46 - 1323 of 2350

To date this has been a DOG,continues to fall despite new buyers, lets hope the long awaited good news comes soon.

Greyhound - 28 Nov 2007 13:55 - 1325 of 2350

Still holding off getting in here; I still remain unconvinced that things really have yet changed. The story's good but something is lacking in my belief.

capetown - 28 Nov 2007 14:01 - 1326 of 2350

Greyhound who would have thought the sp would be back to pre recent rns news, hope that we will get a rise on next rns then i am out!

halifax - 28 Nov 2007 14:04 - 1327 of 2350

Refer post 1311 are you saying Hardman's view is wrong?

capetown - 28 Nov 2007 14:05 - 1328 of 2350

No,what i am saying is all in the share price.

SECRUOSER - 28 Nov 2007 14:06 - 1329 of 2350

capetown,

Are you looking at a different quote to me? The shareprice before the recent RNS was around 5.75p mid with 5.25p on the bid. Look at the chart in the header if you don't believe me.

capetown - 28 Nov 2007 14:10 - 1330 of 2350

SEC
I think the spread was more than the current 10%,i really did think that we would be at around 8p and steady by now.

SECRUOSER - 28 Nov 2007 14:11 - 1331 of 2350

The company are clearly leaving drilling results to the last minute (ie waiting for meaningful flowrates from well 1 or waiting for both wells) which is causing a bit of anxiety but an rns has to come out soon, its been 21 days. Don't let the movement of the shareprice (esp. on the very low volume) wind you up or change your opinion is my view.

halifax - 28 Nov 2007 14:18 - 1332 of 2350

Online bid 6.34 offer 6.86 size 112500----- pile in!!

capetown - 28 Nov 2007 14:46 - 1333 of 2350

Looks like no one is pileing in even at this price.

SECRUOSER - 28 Nov 2007 14:47 - 1334 of 2350

You must look at a different trade screen to me as well!?

driver - 28 Nov 2007 15:00 - 1335 of 2350

capetown
You have been saying your getting out for months and then it goes up, we dont want ser to tell us ever time they scratch their arse they do have a job to do when they have something positive to tell us i.e. drilling results, steaming they will. In the mean time top up if you can and get out when it gets to 30p+ (stop moaning)

capetown - 28 Nov 2007 15:31 - 1336 of 2350

DRIVER,i am not moaning just tired of hearing how this is going to FLY,and fly it has NOT.

cynic - 28 Nov 2007 15:34 - 1337 of 2350

capetown .... the problem with ALL mini-minnows is that it takes effectively nothing to move sp disproportionately ..... and God help you if you want to bail out on a bad day!

driver - 28 Nov 2007 15:36 - 1338 of 2350

Cape
OK from now on we will say creep up to 30p+ and not fly, like it or not thats where its going.

SECRUOSER - 28 Nov 2007 15:40 - 1339 of 2350

cynic,

Just wait until we have a 'something'.

cynic - 28 Nov 2007 15:58 - 1340 of 2350

as i have posted, of the mini-minnow oilies, SER is prob one of the better ones .... however, it is far too small for CFDs and therefore not of any investment interest to me
