MAJOR CONTRACTS WITH PEPSICO AND WHOLE EARTH

TO SUPPLY REBAUDIOSIDE-A (REB-A*) AND EXCLUSIVE LICENSE TO MARKET REB-A UNDER THE PureVia BRAND

PEPSICO AND WHOLE EARTH INTRODUCE ALL-NATURAL, ZERO-CALORIE SWEETENER WITH PURECIRCLE-SOURCED REB-A

The Board of PureCircle announces that it has signed substantial, long-term contracts with PepsiCo and Whole Earth Sweetener Company for the supply of high purity Reb-A for use in beverages and tabletop sweeteners worldwide under the PureVia brand. In addition, PepsiCo and Whole Earth will grant PureCircle an exclusive license to market Reb-A under the PureVia brand in certain categories. PureCircle will be entitled to all profits (including sub-licensing fees) related to this exclusive licensing agreement.

PureCircle will continue to be free to sell the non-branded ingredient to all customers across all categories and geographies.

The announcement, from PepsiCo and Whole Earth Sweetener Company, states that PureVia will debut in a new nutritionally-enhanced PepsiCo beverage called 'SoBe Life,' to be launched in Latin America, starting with Peru. PureViaTM will be available initially in three SoBe Life flavour blends: Tropical-Pomegranate, Strawberry-Kiwi and Orange-Tangerine.

Meanwhile, PureVia tabletop sweetener will launch in the United States this autumn, before expanding into drink and food products around the world.

Commenting on the contract award, Magomet Malsagov, Managing Director of PureCircle, said:

'PureCircle has worked extremely hard to build a capability which can support leading food and beverage manufacturers, such as PepsiCo and Whole Earth, in bringing natural, healthy products to consumers on a worldwide basis. this is a strange stock, insofar as it seems to have a cap >1bn yet the average daily trading is <145k ..... any comment?

other than that, it certainly looks an interesting play

Market cap is £215m at todays price it doesnt take much volume to move it a volume wise and Killicks have advised their clients to buy.

Sometimes I buy a share because it is cheap this company is clearly not cheap but is a class act with a market advantage over its competitors.

Just a matter of interest, but who is their main competitor?

Tate & Lyle who are developing further their low calorie sugar substitute.

there are assuredly others too, though as i scarcely use sugar, and certainly not artficial sweeteners, i cannot remember the name of the major company who first exploited this market or its product

Yes I saw an advert on tv last night they must have spent a lot of money on it.

Saccharin, Nutrasweet & Splenda (McNeil Nutritionals Ltd) are all presumably brands owned by the big boys, such as Tate & Lyle, so they aren't going to sit back and let PURE encroach too far in to their market?
As you can probably tell, I haven't yet done loads of research on this subject, but the old addage of 'buy on rumour, sell on fact' may hold true here, as the sp seems to be going up too far, too fast, imo.
EDIT: Nutrasweet (Canderel) which is Aspartame seems to be the biggest competitor, which is in many foodstuffs including soft drinks, chewing gum, canned desserts etc, but there seems to be a very tiny risk that Aspartame is linked to health risks, including allergies, which is possibly why food processors are keen to find other sweeteners with (allegedly) no risks.

Its a natural product with no chemicals or additives and also its calorie free which is a bonus..it was splenda advertised last night owned by Tates and they are marketing it aggresively.

Harrycat--I had the same view but it's frustrating watching the sp shoot up and holding back! I think it will fall back quickly soon and then hope to get in.

I've bought in 4 times now including today so I wont buy anymore this could be another Sola .imo.
