Rockhopper was established in 2004 with a strategy to invest in and undertake an offshore oil exploration programme in the North Falkland Basin. It was floated on AIM in August 2005. Rockhopper was the first company to make a commercial oil discovery in the Falklands. Today Rockhopper is the largest acreage holder in the North Falkland Basin, with interests in the Greater Mediterranean region.

i know fuck all and happily admit it .... however, i'ld have thought that if the break through 340 holds (it's trying to), then 370/375 looks a distinct possibility

From a post on AFN :
Cannacord morning note:
Rockhopper - RKH LN
I made some comments regarding RKH to my sales-desk here on Friday afternoon and thought I'd repeat them this morning, given what I believe is an outstanding buying opportunity. Last Wednesday we downgraded our NAV from 641p/share to 545p/share on the back of the reserves downgrade by the competent person. Although reduced, our new target price is still 86% above the current price. Whoever is selling/shorting the stock, as suggested by the downward pressure on the price last week, is running an enormous risk of being caught out. Investors buying today are doing exactly the right thing by getting involved at these artificially low levels. I'd highlight the following points:
86% upside to NAV
announcement likely soon regarding extension of rig contract with appraisal well possible in February
successful appraisal well could easily imply that the 242m barrel reserves figure is indeed more appropriate than the 170m barrels, ie taking our NAV back up to 641p/share
Rachel well result was bad for DES, largely immaterial for RKH - they only had 7.5%
a placing at these levels (300p/share) is not hugely dilutive compared to a placing at 400p/share - the difference is 225m total shares at 400p vs 236m shares at 300p, ie only 5%
retail sellers are typically short-sighted - this fall could reverse very rapidly

No PAIN no GAIN
No wonder there is no much going on at this thread, much of them were wrong footed last Friday ( capitulation )
and when Capitulation happens, then is time to BUY not sell,
no wonder they admit to know FUCK all ............ see below
from the DES thread ..........

on a much saner note
hali - if you didn't see it already, many thanks for kicking me so i sold most of my RKH yesterday and suffered relatively little pain .... i'll hold the remaining RKH but am happily well out of DES

RKH
holding well, though some profit taking and holding around the pivot 333p
DES
some large profit taking on the last half an hour

i'ld rather have my my money in RKH than DES.
DES's sidetracking looks to me like a (last) desperate throw of the dice, and though there was good quick money to be made here (DES) this morning, i think you've got to be pretty brave to keep holding in the hope of much greater profit - i.e. back through 100

re - DES
They have a good reason to do that, do not forget the data was very positive, though the oil has migrated they had reached the conclution, is better to looking around with the sidetracking, any RKH holder will be glad if migrated to our sites

not at all ..... as i said previously, i'm glad i bailed out when i did, and thus protected the profits i had already stashed away ..... in fact, i had a little dabble in DES this morning, and though i gave back some of the gain (greed again!) i banked more than enough to treat Emu to a pie and a pint at Christmas ...... have bought back a few (more) RKH on the simple logic that they actually have oil, and Cannacord are a respectable bunch, so i thought their analysis worth some attention

MRSI - concur; in many ways it's a win-win scenario for RKH, but assuredly not for DES

I think you lot are barking up the wrong tree.....apart from a huge dilution and enless nonsense estimations for what RKH perhaps has or has not, there will be not much news until late january at the earliest....they might announce new targets to be drilled and such and such a broker might upgrade their stance but 3 months till next spud...minimum....have to say nice rebound this morning....but better value in other oilies....

late january at the earliest...
So that's 3 months for them to hit 35p then. After all the ramping nonsense on here earlier, they're not looking so clever now.

Hilary...don't be ridiculous....they have made a great discovery.....the only thing is that until more wells are sunk : we don't know the exact size....I just think that the sp will not perform like it has done until a firm spudding date is fixed !...and that is some way away...way after christmas....unless DES perform a miracle....
