Greekman,

Thanks for your posts and suggestions.

Bolshi (and others who are seeing a grey box or a red cross where the stockwatch should be)

It sounds like the applet hasnt loaded correctly.

Try clicking on 'Tools' and then 'Sun Java Console'. This will pop up a java console box. Press 'x' to clear classloader cache. This will basically force your browser to reload the applet and hopefully solve the problem.

Please note that in Firefox 'Sun Java Console' will be called simply 'Java Console'.

Hope that helps and once again our apologies.

Best regards,

Geoff

Geoff. Which 'Tools'?

The Other Kevin - 08 Feb 2008 12:08 - 403 of 599

Hi Geoff

Java Console isn't where you say it should be. Using XP Pro. Any suggestions, please?

Bolshi - 08 Feb 2008 12:10 - 404 of 599

Geoff. I was using BT/Yahoo browser & couldn't find Java. Went to IE & found it there. Cleared the cache but still no joy.

Bolshi - 08 Feb 2008 12:12 - 405 of 599

Closed all down after Java cache clear out, started again & now working

Geoff(MoneyAM) - 08 Feb 2008 12:14 - 406 of 599

Bolshi,

glad to hear its sorted for you.

The Other Kevin,

Best regards,

Geoff

The Other Kevin - 08 Feb 2008 12:17 - 407 of 599

BT/Yahoo

The Other Kevin - 08 Feb 2008 12:49 - 408 of 599

Rebooted and OK now. But, for future reference, where is my Java console?

Bolshi - 08 Feb 2008 13:01 - 409 of 599

Other Kevin. I couldn't find it in Bt/Yahoo either. Open up IE & do it from there if you can.

The Other Kevin,

Glad its sorted.

I am afriad I am unfamiliar with the bt/yahoo browser i am afraid.

Perhaps their help desk can tell you where they have hidden it.

Best regards,

Geoff

Hi Bolshi - My IE is wrapped in BT/Yahoo/Google buttons and options but then tucked away in a corner I spotted Tools and found the elusive console. Many thanks. K

Geoff,
Where Is my Java console? using a Mac 10.3.9 with Firefox on dial-up please? seems nothing under Tools.

Tried IE but not found.

The Other Kevin - 08 Feb 2008 14:23 - 413 of 599

Stan - My IE desktop is a mass of buttons and search windows all in confusing colours but almost hidden on the right hand side is the Tools button, next to the Page and Print buttons and with a couple of continuation arrows which bring up the Help, One Note and BT buttons when clicked. I wonder if your Tools button is buried there?

The Other Kevin - 08 Feb 2008 14:30 - 414 of 599

Stan - A further thought: Right click on IE opening page and enable the Menu Bar.
That should bring up the Tools button.

MightyMicro - 08 Feb 2008 17:06 - 415 of 599

Stan: I can't understand why you can't post to this thread if you can post to another. Temporary glitch, perchance?

On the Mac Firefox, I believe there is an issue whereby the Java Console is disabled with a particular version of Java (some compatibility issue) although Java still works OK. I believe the cure is to download the latest version of the Java plug-in, although you may have to uninstall the existing version first.

Another thought: why not use the Mac's native browser, Safari? That should work just fine with MAM.

On browsers in general: I never like using these 'branded' browsers (AOL, BT/Yahoo etc). They always seem to be based on last year's versions of stuff and get frozen in time. They appear to be engineered by the marketing department. I use Opera most of the time (sometimes FireFox) with Sun Java (on XP Professional) and have experienced very few problems with MAM.

I won't touch IE anymore, particularly IE7.
