Rockhopper was established in 2004 with a strategy to invest in and undertake an offshore oil exploration programme in the North Falkland Basin. It was floated on AIM in August 2005. Rockhopper was the first company to make a commercial oil discovery in the Falklands. Today Rockhopper is the largest acreage holder in the North Falkland Basin, with interests in the Greater Mediterranean region.

It'll be probably be like Hardman Resources (Tullow Oil) mauritanian development with a tanker-barge that hooks up to the rig, that sort of thing....

As I said there are better qualified people than I but would have thought that it would be a safer (ecologically) bet. It is well north of any interference from the huge Antarctic icebergs that pose a threat in the Far South.
As to where one would have this in the FI is a much bigger question. Logistics would seem to favour the Southern coast but again Barclay Sound is large and deep enough. San Carlos Water might be marginally closer as would Salvador which at least has a road across Camp to Mount Pleasant.

RKH has entered into a further assignment agreement to secure an additional well slot on the Ocean Guardian drilling rig. Rockhopper will shortly drill well 14/10-6, its third appraisal well on the Sea Lion feature, followed by an additional three wells in succession.
Further information concerning the objectives and locations of the wells will be announced as appropriate.

Rockhopper - RKH LN
RKH has taken another drilling slot on the Ocean Guardian rig, so the group will now drill four wells back-to-back on its northern Falkland basin acreage. This is good news as it keeps the rig busy between now and the end of the year. With any luck either Argos Resources or Desire Petroleum will have managed to sort out their finances by then and will potentially take a slot or two themselves early next year. RKH's next well, a 4.5 kilometre extension to the west of the discovery well, is due to spud any day now, and should take around 4 weeks to drill. Our NAV/TP for RKH is 593p/share, versus a current price of 255p, i.e. the shares continue to look extremely good value. I note that despite the excellent flow test result announced 10 days ago, the shares are trading 7% below the level immediately below the announcement

The broker repeated a buy recommendation, which targets 494p, this morning after the Falklands oil explorer announced that it is adding another well to the current drill programme
