Rockhopper was established in 2004 with a strategy to invest in and undertake an offshore oil exploration programme in the North Falkland Basin. It was floated on AIM in August 2005. Rockhopper was the first company to make a commercial oil discovery in the Falklands. Today Rockhopper is the largest acreage holder in the North Falkland Basin, with interests in the Greater Mediterranean region.

At the worst, if banks and currency was to collapse. Money is worth ------. Gold is not even safe in my thoughts, short term yes.

Hi there cynic
I think the best argument for "uncertainty in the future" would be
Would you have predicted 4 months ago that Germany would close down ALL its nuclear power stations by mid to end 2012 and that many other countries would follow suit. I know I wouldn't have.
Regarding cost oil, I predict that the rush to Hybrids and electric transport throughout the rich west countries will largely reduce the need for the black stuff and create a situation whereby the main use will be industrial and the poorer continents that will still run petrol engines as we are doing now.
I personally am looking at buying 2 new cars that run on electric and gas within the next 6 months or so. I will be selling my current cars at the same time.
A reduction in demand always leads to an eventual reduction in price.
regards
John

I agree that RKH are still a minnow, but I doubt they would become annihilated. If push came to shove it would become a target for one of the majors, and with the FI prospects looking good, it could start a bidding war.
Oil use will be around for many a year and no matter how many knew finds there are, supply will never keep up (long term) with demand.

Cannot keep up with supply and demand, oil will rise.

Short term ie; next 2 to 3 years, I agree. However how sustainable is it at $115 if and when new tech becomes affordable and mainstream and billion barrel fields are being discovered in areas where current infrastructure to transport exists.

We are now in a period of the worlds oil consumption is far out weighing discoveries.

I think I am right in saying 3 barrels are being used for every one found.

In which case alternative forms of energy will be found to make up the shortfall.
To be honest, there are claims like the one that you posted and there are others that state we have only just tapped the worlds resources and that 85% is as yet undiscovered.
The only thing I am sure about is that, those who control our energy will extract as much out of us as they can for as long as they can...............

I would have thought Baler is exactly who you would need if it 's that wet down the mine!
John
Not sure about the switch to electricity - whilst I'm certainly using my PV source to its maximum I'm not sure they have invented the first commercial electric aircraft! So perhaps carbon fuels will be around long enough to allow RKH to profit from its discoveries.

Nice Pic
I expect fossil to be around for a very long time, my concern is the commerciality of some fields may be diminished if the price retraces too much as a result of alternatives catching on.
Three years ago, a mate of mine sent me a DVD about the new biggie "H2O cars" I looked at it and thought "what a load of crock"
2 weeks ago I watched a docu about a Company in Germany that had a breakthrough in developing a new fuel..............................yep H2O
I would not like to predict where oli will be in 18 months let alone 4 years, but then who would have expected to see gold at 1600 3 years ago?
Personally I hope you all make millions and come and buy some of my Alpine propertys

John
