The Israelis took out a nuclear reactor under construction in Iraq quite a few years ago, so what is to stop them doing so again? The recent atrocities in Lebanon show the US is quite happy for Israel to be the bully boy on the block and any military strike against Iran will come from its neighbour. IMO.

cynic - 04 Oct 2006 07:56 - 6387 of 7811

for goodness sake boys, get into the real world! ..... Teheran rhetoric and rantings are just that .... if you bother to read other than Daily Sport, you will note that negotiations with Iran are making steady progress, though it can be taken as read that they cannot be stopped in the long run from making nuclear weapons ..... IMO, North Korea is a much more dangerous proposition.

austing2253 - 04 Oct 2006 09:00 - 6388 of 7811

A nuclear Iran would pose a threat to Israel far greater than any Lebanon. IMO negotiations are just a smoke screen. I agree Northern Korea is a dangerous situation but they are not sitting on a sizeable chunk of the worlds oil reserves...

cynic - 04 Oct 2006 09:43 - 6389 of 7811

though i am jewish, i am absolutely appalled by the truly disgusting and cavalier manner with which the israelis have treated the lebanese civilian population and the arabs in gaza and the west bank etc ...... US leadership has shown its usual pusillanimous response as the jewish lobby pulls a lot of votes .... so much for moral rectitude by world leaders, but history shows such to be non-existent.

sorry about that, but as you can see, i feel quite strongly on the issue.

cynic,

"if you bother to read other than Daily Sport, you will note that negotiations with Iran are making steady progress"

Congratulations, You are only the third person I have squelched in MAM's existence, and the other two had nothing constructive to contribute either,

You can have the last word as fortunately I won't be able to see it!

seawallwalker - 04 Oct 2006 22:41 - 6391 of 7811

I'm glad you moderated that!

Not your finest moment.

Tonker - 05 Oct 2006 08:36 - 6392 of 7811

Andy, Cynic is ok. His opinion can be very useful, I know he can be a little harsh sometimes but that is what he is like.....

Andy - 05 Oct 2006 08:45 - 6393 of 7811

Tonker,

Ok but to call people "Daily Sport readers" just because he disagrees with their opinion is not constructive to dialogue and discussion, which is what BB's are all about IMO.

cynic - 05 Oct 2006 08:47 - 6394 of 7811

it's OK Tonker ..... If Andy wants to squelch me then that is his prerogative and I never take offense at such reactions ..... I prefer to be more Beast of Bolsover (Dennis Skinner) than Harold MacMillan and am happy accept the slings and arrows that that may precipitate!

stockdog - 05 Oct 2006 11:19 - 6395 of 7811

Yes, Cynic, but they both happened to have been elected to speak for their parties. lol!

georgetrio - 05 Oct 2006 11:32 - 6396 of 7811

cynic
they don't use slings and arrows anymore but rocket. best luck to SEY. LOL

cynic - 05 Oct 2006 11:32 - 6397 of 7811

or did The Prince of Denmark only get slings and arrows because he was unelected?

stockdog - 05 Oct 2006 15:43 - 6398 of 7811

No - that was outrageous fortune

Alas, poor Cynic, I knew him - well,
I'd met him on a BB.

rpaco - 05 Oct 2006 17:09 - 6399 of 7811

pusillanimous ???

austing2253 - 05 Oct 2006 18:22 - 6400 of 7811

Timid I believe...

cynic - 05 Oct 2006 18:35 - 6401 of 7811

Andy .... if u can read this, don't be so sensitive .... it really isn't that insulting for some of my best friends read both the Daily and Subnday Sport!

Andy - 05 Oct 2006 19:20 - 6402 of 7811

SWW,

Me too, and I agree, it wasn't!

ejvind - 05 Oct 2006 20:58 - 6403 of 7811

Does anybody know how far Sterling has gotten i Irak (don't they drill close to DNO)?

It was announced today that at General Energy (Turkish / Canadian) company has started production i Kurdistan, close to DNO's (company from norway) oilfields, about 5 000 bpd, will increase to 20 000 bpd. (DNO is hoping on starting production in first q. 2007. http://www.na24.no/naeringsliv/article761121.ece

There has been some skepicism about the foreign oil contract i Kurdistan, but this news made the sp of DNO to increase by 9.4% today.

seawallwalker - 05 Oct 2006 21:37 - 6404 of 7811

It's okay now Andy, equilibrium restored.
