need and warrant are not synonymous!

Ouch! that was below the belt.

maggiebt4 - 02 Oct 2008 17:12 - 823 of 1154

And not really warranted!:-)

cynic - 02 Oct 2008 17:28 - 824 of 1154

you think not? ..... in all seriousness (unusual for me i know), iraq is a mess and will stay that way for 2/3 years or more into the future .... PET may well have good contacts there, but that is not the same as bringing home the bacon - a stonable offense i suspect in iraq!

by the way, i wish the header could be corrected to show the proper spelling of "independent"!

maggiebt4 - 02 Oct 2008 17:38 - 825 of 1154

Think the 2007/2008 needs to be changed as well. Agreed cynic, it's certainly not happening this year but I'm in for the long haul since I, foolishly, missed the short one.

Self19 - 03 Oct 2008 12:43 - 826 of 1154

I know none of you want to hear this but there is a rumour (I would call it more than a rumour) that PET is a boiler room scam. Yes they do exist and have the service contracts, but everything else is bullshit and is propagated by a few people who continually drip feed bogus info in order to pump and dump. There are large holders who know the story but cannot get out without taking a big hit. I would advise anyone to try and imagine what is going to happen to the sp when someone holding millions of PET is forced to close - that moment is not far off and there are no Institutions to prop this company up. FWIW I have NO position in PET; I am simply tired of hearing about people getting wiped out on this crap.

cynic - 03 Oct 2008 12:58 - 827 of 1154

i don't hold and have no intention of doing so, but if your rumour is more than a rumour, then it behoves you to give better detail

hlyeo98 - 03 Oct 2008 13:01 - 828 of 1154

I totally agree with u, self19. That's what I heard about too.

cynic - 03 Oct 2008 13:14 - 829 of 1154

many years ago there was a mega scam of a supposed gold mine in phillipines ..... transpired that all was rigged and one of the perpetrators found himself trying to fly from a helicopter .... cost me, and many others, an absolute bundle

watcher - 03 Oct 2008 13:57 - 830 of 1154

i have also heard that PET are approaching security organisations to comply with conditions for the next stage of approval by the oil ministry....

scotinvestor - 03 Oct 2008 14:04 - 831 of 1154

very sorry to hear that cynic

cynic - 03 Oct 2008 14:06 - 832 of 1154

thanks scotty ..... was actually 4/5 years ago from memory

Self19 - 03 Oct 2008 14:23 - 833 of 1154

cynic - I only posted on here (as opposed to advfn) as my anonymity is safe; I am reluctant to go into detail for various reasons but here's my last word.
I would be surprised if any of the PET dreamers/holders have bothered to mail the IOM and ask what they know of PET. The rampers love posting emails from the boiler room that is PET office quoting their supposed contacts at the IOM but do they ever bother to do the real homework themselves? No...but it's easily done.
What happened at 90p? The penny started to drop, literally and metaphorically. If your holding 2million PET at an average of say 70p and you decide you want out, well it's not that simple is it? The only option is to quietly and steadily drip feed into the market while not letting on to the other large holders and all the time posting bullish crap for the minnows.
IG alone have closed accounts for trading and are holding the knife above positions of £1000 pp. These positions are losing daily and soon will have to be closed. PET stock is held by retail investors alone - and most of them are obviously novices who didn't have the sense to have stops at 10%...they won't run for the hills but sooner or later they capitulate, hence the remorseless fall in the price.
The advice I have for the doubters is to go and read a book on investing and then apply all the criteria to PET and if you don't see a con then you shouldn't be in the markets.

cynic - 03 Oct 2008 14:37 - 834 of 1154

interesting what you say about IG, though that may just be because they are up to their own internally imposed limits in one direction or the other ..... however, as i said on here many moons ago, this is not a stock that has appeal to me .... too small and in iraq!

justyi - 03 Oct 2008 15:13 - 835 of 1154

I just sold my PET shares at a loss. I think there is truth in what self19 is saying. Thanks for the warning, self19.

cynic - 03 Oct 2008 15:51 - 836 of 1154

PET can indeed be shorted through IG, and not just in lots of <£1000 either, so someone has their info wrong

Self19 - 03 Oct 2008 16:03 - 837 of 1154

justyi - i feel uncomfortable reading that as the sp has just hit support, but the technicals may be immaterial now. In my defense please refer to post 777 way back in july when i warned of all this then. Whatever the sp does, you are best out of PET. Avoid AIM explos as many are bogus ramps.
cynic - IG have closed 2 accounts i know of because the particular punters cannot cover their margin calls on PET.

cynic - 03 Oct 2008 16:06 - 838 of 1154

ah ... that's a different matter .... that just means they had run out of cash and nothiong to do per se with the underlying stock, other than that they called it totally wrong

halifax - 03 Oct 2008 16:07 - 839 of 1154

Pretty obvious what Self19 is up to presumably he/they have already made a bundle shorting PET, if it is a boilerroom then why does AIM tolerate it? When it comes to boilerrooms there are plenty of bloggers on this and other sites falling into that category.... time to swallow a large pinch of salt.

dealerdear - 03 Oct 2008 16:22 - 840 of 1154

Tend to agree with halifax.

Strange how these comments are made by people I've never heard of before.

On AMER seen the opposite. A lot of ramping by people who mysteriously disappear when they've got what they want.

Can't believe people get taken in.
