Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).
Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.
cheers GF.

I was quite shocked to hear we pay 16 billion out in Foreign Aid , 550 million to India alone , and while we have our own problems here . I think May made a mistake ring fencing it when she won't do similar with the pension situation , she should have said she would review it .

i have a feeling that aid to india is under mutual discussion
however, we all lose sight too easily that aid is often a useful aid to entree
that said, why on earth we are giving aid to totally corrupt regimes such as nigeria, which should easily be self-supporting, is almost incomprehensible

It would be a big political mistake to do away with the triple lock on pensions while maintaining the compulsory foreign "aid" budget. Like the family allowance, there are no doubt people that don't rely upon the state pension but it must be kept for those for whom it is the only income. It is a miserable amount as it is.

PENSIONS
a bit of an odd decision to scrap the triple-lock if that is indeed the case, even if there is a counter-balance of some kind

It's a curious time to say you are stopping the triple, almost as if they are trying to lose.

Or, the opposition being so poor, they think they can get away with anything.

Another thing gets me ,when they said that they can't promise not to raise taxes and then next day say it doesn't necessarily mean we are going to raise taxes . It's not very good when you don't think about what you are saying , they must know the press are onto this sort of thing , very poor i think .

have you no understanding at all why foreign aid is given?
while some - far too much - may be purloined by the gov'ts in question, aid is a way of oiling the wheels, to put it crudely
