THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

What was the reason for giving money to a guinea pig farm in some South
American country????????

What was the reason for giving over 8 million pounds to an African (spice)
girl band????

There is numerous other examples of wasted British taxpayer's money...

What is the point of giving China oversea's aid...China's a lot richer then the UK.

Fred1new - 24 Apr 2017 13:05 - 76504 of 81564

Are you talking about bribery and backhanders to overseas' friends in hope of reciprocity?

Sounds familiar.

What are the tories, UKippers and fellow runners UKI offering to their punters at the moment?

Pay stub politics comes to mind.

Strange old world.

They are all moving to nearby where you live.

2517GEORGE - 24 Apr 2017 13:54 - 76509 of 81564

Whilst there is a need for Foreign Aid, £13b rising to £16B by 2020 is far and away too much, given that those responsible for it's delivery are having difficulty finding enough 'worthy' causes, and that every penny given is borrowed.

It sticks in the gullet somewhat when as a taxpayer you see your taxes going towards educating goldfish (or whatever) rather than towards the cost of 'sorry too expensive' drugs which could help a seriously ill relative.

Major economies around the world including the USA and I believe Germany have cut back on the 0.7% of GDP, I think we should do the same, but not total withdrawal.

2517GEORGE - 24 Apr 2017 13:54 - 76510 of 81564

oops duplicated

iturama - 24 Apr 2017 14:22 - 76511 of 81564

I have no problem with 0.7% of GDP going to foreign aid, if needed. But I do have a problem with it being a mandatory figure. That leads to spending nonsense, just to make up the figures. Money should be given where it is really needed, up to 0.7% of GDP. If it is not really needed, or being abused, don't spend it and pay down the debt.

Nigeria corrupt? I think it is full of very nice men. Hardly a day goes by without receiving an email from some kind soul offering to share $10M with me.

Fred1new - 24 Apr 2017 14:46 - 76513 of 81564

IT.

They must know you have it to bother trying.

Until Manuel gave it all of his of away he had knocks on his door every day.

VICTIM - 24 Apr 2017 14:54 - 76514 of 81564

Dear Freda any old blather from you in response to serious concerns going on eh , if you can't defend it you go dumb . On such an occasion as this May could easily cut back 20 to 30 per cent and say that's it , we must be seen to be proper at times .

cynic - 24 Apr 2017 14:56 - 76515 of 81564

lots of chuckling having just logged back in

there is certainly a horrible amount of abuse in the way some aid money is spent - or stolen
however, the reasoning for it is sound

IT
0.7% is not a fixed monetary amount .... go back to primary school :-)

Fred1new - 24 Apr 2017 17:27 - 76516 of 81564

Vicky darling,

I am sorry I can't keep up with the rubbish you write. No defence is offered.

Mind you after the "exit" the UK may be holding its cap out begging its way around Europe for deals and handouts.

(I can lend you my dog's old bowl if you need it.)

Or better still, try and buy an "old tramp steamer" and trade around the world like in the "good old days". (Rule Britannia.)

Anyway, it looks like the French have seen the light and are going to reject Fascism.

It would nice to think the same will happen in the UK.

Shock poll puts Tories ahead in Wales for historic win

Cons 21 seats
Lab 15 seats
Paid 3 seats
Libs 1 seat

From ITV

The Conservatives appear to be on course to win the majority of Welsh parliamentary seats for the first time in more than 100 years according to an exclusive poll carried out for ITV Cymru Wales News.

The snapshot of voting intentions also puts Labour as losing a general election in Wales for the first time since 1918.

The shock findings come from the latest Welsh Political Barometer poll – the first opinion poll to be conducted in Wales since Theresa May called the snap general election.

Our new poll asked how people would vote in a general election for the House of Commons.

Plaid Cymru and the Liberal Democrats are projected, by this poll, to hold the seats they currently have but make no gains.

Sensationally, however, a full ten seats are projected to be gained by the Conservatives from Labour.

Get the message yet Corbyn you useless fecking idiot ????

hlyeo98 - 24 Apr 2017 20:02 - 76519 of 81564

Corbyn should just step down or resign. When Andrew Marr asked him if MI5 informs him of ISIS leader location, would he give the go-ahead to kill him?
He replied, 'depends on whether the intel is reliable.'

He is just a total idiot and a risk to our country. Probably would let extremism run amok.
