Someone who knows someone who seems to know someone else huh? Load of tosh. Mind you there is a differnce between posting an opinion and deliberately spreading lies and disinformation to influence the SP of a quoted company. I wonder if PET management take this 'bolier room' allegation seriously enough to initiate legal action? I have no idea and care even less.

someone with an underwater position moved their stops and were caught out at yesterdays open causing the bid to drop to 18p (i presume you were all paying attention) but the market makers have now squared their books and will be content to walk this back up on little volume. remember, its the market makers who go short...its not a SETS stock, so of no interest to professional shorters. DYOR.

Rarely in the world of investment are investors hopes and dreams completly destroyed by a single sentence that in effect destroys PET`s dreams within Iraq.
Such a sentence is contained within the following article about the bidding round in Iraq.
PET are not qualified to bid on any of the fields up for grabgs in the licencing rounds and therefore much hope or hype if you prefer rested on PET being able to strike a deal with the Iraqi Oil Ministry OUTSIDE of the licensing rounds. In fact PET`s whole future in Iraq could rest on their ability to have done just this.
It is therefore the worst news possible to see the following sentence contained within the article below:
"Al-Shahristani said companies will not be given the opportunity to arrange one-to-one deals outside the licensing rounds. "There is no discussion with any company on a one-to-one basis for field development."
In my opinion, if this is indeed the case then PET could end up with nothing other than its present service contracts. Its heavyweight backer is not here for the crumbs of a service contract and if PET are not to be considered for an OFF licensing round deal then there is every chance that they would walk away leaving PET with a mountain of debt and almost certain collapse.
I did try and warn people when the SP of PET was 1.68 and its shareprice collapse is evidence of the realisation that PET`s prospects were not matching the hype that surrounded it. Now at 31p a lot rests on PET getting something out of Iraq but if the words of the Iraqi oil minister are to be believed then PET will end up with virtually nothing meaning that a still overhyped and overpriced share will come crashing down as its very servival is put in doubt.
These are not the markets that take kindly to bad news and any confirmation of the oil ministers words would result in a savage mark down of PET`s SP.
Iraq to Unveil Bid Round Contracts Next Week

Iraq has finalized the model contract for the long-term service contracts on offer in its first postwar bid round, Oil Minister Hussein al-Shahristani said Wednesday. He declined to divulge terms, saying oil companies would find out at a London road show next Monday.
The first round aims to fast-track the development of producing fields to raise output by 1.5 million barrels per day, al-Shahristani told journalists on the sidelines of a conference in Antalya, Turkey. Iraq wants to hike output to 4.5 million b/d in the next five years, rising to 6 million b/d in 10 years. Energy Intelligence estimates production in September at just over 2 million b/d, down from 2.3 million b/d in August.
Fields to be included in a second licensing round will be announced by the end of the year, al-Shahristani told the conference. The earlier plan had been to unveil the list at the London road show (IOD Sep.26,p1). Most of the fields will be discovered but not developed areas, or fields producing small volumes, al-Shahristani told International Oil Daily. A third round will follow soon after.
Al-Shahristani said companies will not be given the opportunity to arrange one-to-one deals outside the licensing rounds. "There is no discussion with any company on a one-to-one basis for field development."
Royal Dutch Shell and China National Petroleum Corp. both recently signed deals with Baghdad. But al-Shahristani said Shell's preliminary agreement centers on processing gas now flared in the south -- and is not an upstream deal -- while the Chinese state giant's contract for the Al-Ahdab field was based on an agreement made by the previous regime (IOD Sep.23,p1).
The Iraqi oil chief told the conference that Baghdad is working with its neighbors to expand export outlets.
Options include rehabilitating the oil pipeline from Kirkuk to the Syrian port of Banias -- which was bombed by US forces in 2003 -- and exporting gas from the Akkas field near the Syrian border via the Arab Gas Pipeline that aims to link Egypt to Turkey.
But heading the list of possibilities is a gas pipeline linking fields in northern Iraq to Turkey, to supply both Turkish and European markets.
Al-Shahristani said some of these fields lie in areas controlled by the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), and there is as yet no clear plan how the development would work. "It has to be sorted out with them," he said. "We have to discuss and follow the constitution, which says that oil and gas are the property of the Iraqi people." But there are no active discussions right now, he added.
Nor are there any active talks with the KRG on the draft oil law. Right now, Iraq is going with service contracts and operating under Iraq's old oil law, al-Shahristani said. Similarly, he added, no other mechanism is being discussed that might pave the way for oil and gas exports from KRG-controlled areas.

if you must buy oilies, i do not believe either PET or falklands-based companies are the ones to back, even if they are currently twitching ..... the former is in an area where no serious companies yet dare to tread and the latter have not even started drilling let alone found oil
